Introduction
A leader is a person who shows the right path to other people and thinks positive. A
leader is an individual who controls all the activities and also has a control to influence others. It
has also seen that if the leader is not effective in the workplace than it can be difficult to achieve
success. This paper will focus on the qualities of a leader.
The discussion will be made on Dr. ManMohan Singh who is the prime minister of
India. He was an Indian economist and also politician who served as a prime minister of India
from 2004 to 2014. He was born on 26 September 1932 (Baru, 2015). The focus will be given on
the qualities which are possessed by him.
1. Honesty and integrity
This is considered as one of the major aspects of the attribute that should be possessed by
a leader. If a leader is not honest then it can be difficult for the other people to follow him or her.
It is important that leader should communicate in a proper manner with others so that proper
evaluation can be made in an effective manner. Dr. ManMohan Singh is also honest towards the
acts. He follows the path of honesty and integrity. It is one of the best qualities which are
possessed in him and due to this factor only he has achieved success and respect in the eyes of
the people.
a.) To be trustful and create trust
Honesty has a relation to being truthful and it is important for a leader to create trust so
that other people can follow him. Dr. Man Mohan Singh is honest and because of this, he has

created trust in the eyes of the majority of people. It is important for a leader to possess the
quality of honesty and trust so that the people who are following give respect and image can be
maintained. In the present scenario, Dr. Man Mohan Singh has a good image of the public and

b.) Effective relationships
It can be evaluated that leader can only maintain effective relations with the other or with
the public if he has the inspiring quality in them. It has been analyzed hat Dr. Man Mohan Singh
has an inspiring personality which gives inspiration to his followers and the respect which is
earned is just because of the honesty and inspiring personality (Zheng and Muir, 2015).
c.) Confidence
It is essential for a leader to be confident so that people can follow them and can also
accept the command given by them.
2.) Decision making
Decision making is one of the qualities the leaders possessed. It is seen that Dr. Man
Mohan Singh make decisions which give benefit to the society also. As it is seen that he is
confident towards the decisions which are made (Canals, 2014).
a.) Empowering others
To empower other is also one of the qualities of a leader. It has been seen that Dr. Man
Mohan Singh focuses on empowering the people which maintain the culture of the society. He
focuses on motivating the other people so that they can give their best and also they can
understand the ownership of towards the activities which are given to them (Copeland, 2014).
b.) Clear goals and objectives
It has been seen that Dr. Man Mohan Singh has clear goals and objectives towards the
activities. It has been seen that effective leader is the one who focuses on clear goals and
objectives. If goals and objectives are no cleared then an individual is not considered as an
effective leader (Meier and O'Toole Jr, 2017).

given by a leader if they are impressive and polite towards the public. It has been analyzed that
Dr. Man Mohan Singh has a kind and politeness nature. He discusses his views and opinion in a
polite manner with other. This is one of the reasons he is loved by a majority of people. Every
individual prefers a person who is polite (Berson et al., 2015). So, this is one the effective quality
possessed by a leader.
c.) Clarity and Concision
It has been analyzed that Dr. Man Mohan Singh conveys his messages and views in a
clear manner which enhances the confidence level of the society. The society trust him
beause of the this quality also possessed by him.

implement the decisions accordingly. These qualities are also possessed by Dr. Man Mohan

workplace so that goals and objectives can be accomplished in a proper manner. Therefore, to be
an effective leader it is important to possess these qualities so that activities can be completed
smoothly.
