Introduction-
Leadership is considered as the capability of a person to guide others or the process through
which an individual or leader can influence others in order so that they can accomplish their
goals and objectives. The leader also helps in directing an organization in being cohesive and
coherent. A good leader always stays three steps ahead of others. Leadership involves a lot of
responsibility that expands beyond the personal development or the material gain. Leadership
involves unresolved conflicts and possesses a higher value which helps in bringing difference in
the lives of the people. In this report the leadership values shall be discussed that a leader must
possess and the problems that a leader faces in his leadership roles. This whole report shall be
based on the Leadership on the Line written by Ronald A. Heifetz and Marty Linsky. In this
report the review of the book will be provided and the various reliability factors related to the
books shall be explained. The problems related to leadership and the various types of issues
faced by a leader shall be detailed in this report. In this report the issues that are portrayed by
Ronald A. Heifetz and Marty Linsky shall be explained.
Part A- Review of the book Leadership on the Line-
Ronald Heifetz and Marty Linsky the writer of Leadership on the Line and are the consultant and

They write that leaders provide encouragement, thrive and survive through various issues when
they lead people towards change. Some important points that Ronald Heifetz and Marty Linsky

In this section they say that leadership involves various kinds of risks. Leadership involves the
addition of new inspirational ideas and always tries to question about the gaps amidst the
people’s natural habitat and values and enforces them to face through tough realities of the life.
Heifetz and Linsky in order to help the leaders in their process of survival and development
provide encouragement to those leaders who lay their objectives on the line and confront people

inspiration and provide guide of leadership to help the growing leaders organize, name and to

 Difficulties and Challenges-
The book Leadership on the Line in its first section explores the various difficulties and dangers
that a leaders has to deal with and it also illustrates different stories in which a leader is show to
be expelled out of the game. The stories described in this book are critical and the leaders’
assassination stories specify the point. It is visible in the book that some mere issues and various
technical problems can be solved by the leaders’ general knowledge or adapting some simple
methods but there are some problems that has been explained in the book which cannot be
figured out with standard methods or authoritative expertise. This type of issues requires the use
of various adjustments, experiments and discoveries. The writers of this book explain that
without bringing any change in behaviors and attitudes and learning new ways a leader cannot

readers. The book can be considered as a secondary source since its content on the leadership
vulnerabilities has been completely explained.

The authors of the books do possess adequate expertise and qualifications since they have been
government school teachers who have gained experience of leadership through their personal
experiences and from their students and clients stories and working experience.

Yes it can be said that this book has been citied in other writings since a book with the name
Leadership without Easy Answers was earlier published and written by Ronald Heifetz which
had the same perspective of leadership and was considered as a framework in understanding of

I would surely recommend this book since it shows out all the possible methods through which
leadership position can get strengthen and leadership can become an inspirational position for the
others. This book can be recommended as an inspiration to the upcoming leaders.
