INTRODUCTION
Management is term which is important for every kind of organisation. Manager and
leader is the one who manage overall activities of organisation as well motivate employees for
building up their morale. Below mention assignment is based on Ramada Hounslow- Heathrow
East is budgeted hotel of United Kingdom. They are providing best accommodation facilities to
customers at affordable prices. Because everyone cannot spend their hard earned money on food
and staying. In this project different management styles was explained which is adopted by
company for achieving their goals and objectives (Martí and Ventresca, 2012). Instead of this
comparison between to hotels also done. Same also through light on market analysis which is
important for knowing opportunities, threats, strength and weakness. Main purpose of
management is for smooth flow of enterprise and generating revenue.
TASK 1
1.1 Compare different management styles
Management is necessary for smooth working of company this help in carrying overall
activities in effective manner. It play crucial role in every kind of firm whether large, small,
public, private sector. In this appropriate strategies are framed for achieving pre determined goal
and objectives. Moreover it vary from department to department like HR, Marketing, Finance,
Research and many more. Comparison between two hotel Ramada Hounslow- Heathrow East
and Harbour View both are same sector organisation but different from each other in their
management styles and leadership. Management styles adopted by both enterprises is given
below:-
Ramada Hounslow- Heathrow East:
Authoritative Management Style
Harbour View: Participative Management
Style
Ramada is applying several management styles
in their hotel. For managing their daily
activities and employees (Mitchelmore and
Rowley, 2010). In Authoritative style higher
authority take decisions as well it help in time
saving, effective decision making and provide
proper directions to staff members.
This is given to provide effective guidance to
their personnels and other staff members as
well motivate them to do work in effective
manner. As per this style when several major
decision are taken these are after feedbacks of
other personnel. Instead of this it help in
identifying major issues which occur while

Leadership Styles adopted by Ramada- Autocratic leadership style: as per this styles major decision making is done by leaders
in company without considering their employees. This help in faster finishing up decision
making process which is important in hospitality industry. Same style is used by manager
of Ramada for doing fast decision process.
Leadership Style adopted by Harbour View Hotel-
Democratic: this style is beneficial for those who have limited employees because while
decision making manager take feedback from their personnel. Thus it aids in effectual
decision making and remove several issues of employees.
Laissez-faire: when this style is implemented in hotel it provide freedom to staff
members in their operating functions. It do something creative and innovative in their
existing process.
1.2 Discuss leadership Characteristics
Some effective skills which is required in leaders to manage a particular team or
department is given below:-
Communication Skills: this skill is important and required in leader to manage team or
department because overall activities of Ramada is managed by leader when they have
good connection skills (Ogunlana, 2010).
Flexibility: flexibility is required in leader because business environment is dynamic in
nature because of that many challenges company have to face. For this there is
requirement of flexible element in leader.
Creativity Skills: this can be says that creativity is essential skill required in leader
because it aids in creating new things. Those assist in accomplishing pre determined goal
and objective in effective manner.
1.3 Evaluate Communication Process
Communication should be proper in organisation and it must have appropriate path way.
Thus, manager must have good communication skills for delivering information and data to each
and every employee. Process of communication have some steps there are: sender- message-

their working. Culture of respective company is healthy and personnel feely free to work because
they are not facing problem (Penuel and et al, 2011). Although, owner of same company allow
people of different culture to work in their hotel. Modification is required because business
environment is dynamic and it changes. As per this few alteration which Ramada have to made
are:-
Task Culture- task should be design in proper manner so that individual can carry out
their work according to that.
Role culture- every person have their some role and responsibilities in company for
these must be designed in proper manner. So it will be clear to everyone.

Weakness Because of budgeted hotel some values, skills

adopted by company. Thus, it help in running
business smoothly. Instead of this they have
some strategies which must be properly
executed to achieve final aims.
Threats Ramada don't spend too much amount on
training of employees which may create issues
related to knowledge. There are several rivals
these are present in market place that may
prevent the whole performance.

SMART goals are setted in company and they have some mean itself which is given
below:-
Specific: this states that goal and objectives must be clearly define so that it assist in
achieving final mission and vision of respective hotel.

identify several problems if any (Pettit, Fiksel and Croxton, 2010).
Achievable: this states that goals and objectives must be achieved. Which is important
for survival and growth of business.

strategy which help in leading and motivating personnels. This is stated below:- Frame training and development program: training session should be conducted for
employees in which area it is required. Give opportunities for self development: same organisation gives opportunities to
employees for their self development which is necessary for growth as well development
of themselves and firm.
Healthy working environment: personnel working in organisation they want
environment which is healthy. It can be possible with the efforts of each and every
person.

Career is important for everyone and it requires development which is required for
achieving desired aim and objectives in particular time period. In this process manager and
leader is important and their skills also which is stated below:-
Communication skills: this states that if individual have good communication skills then
they can influence anyone easily. As well it gives positive results towards decision
making of person. if in company there is proper communication between top to lower
level department.
Innovation: it include some new or innovative ideas so that work going on in company
can be in effective manner and gives positive outcomes (Heijtz and et al, 2011).
Leadership Skill: this is simply motivating and guiding behaviour of personnel. Which
assist in achieving goals and objectives. Apart from this same skills help in development
of career.
Change adapting Skills: environment is full of competition and it have several
modification.
4.2 Produce development Plan
Plan development is necessary it include several steps in it this require several skills
which must be developed in individual. So they scan achieve their target in particular time
period. Their description is given below:-

Development Required- motivation is work of leader in motivating employees and this
require improvement so that organisation can gain higher position in their working.
Time Period- 3 to 4 months
Time Management Skills:
Development Required- time play important role and have value in everyone life. In this
requirement of development is that work must be completed on time according to its
requirement (Bianchi and et al, 2011).
Time Period- 2.5 months
Flexibility Skills:

As per above mention assignment it has been concluded that management is important
for organisation to carry out their day to day activities in best possible manner. Ramada

organisation because they both have several skills which assist in managing entire practices of
firms. Swot analysis is also done for market research so they can know their threats,
