2CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF AN ARTICLE
Introduction
The intention of this paper is to critically analyze the article, The Impact of Leadership
Style on Employee's Motivation. The article that is critically analyzed in this paper, chiefly
highlights the mixed method of study that is intended to evaluate the relation between the taken
leadership study and the motivation of the employees in a petrochemical company that is situated
in the eastern part of Saudi Arabia. A survey was made and that was distributed to the employees
who work in two departments. Apart from that among the focus group of 10 employees an
interview was conducted in order to validate the results or the outcome of the survey (Alghazo
and Al-Anazi 2016). The article that is being analyzed in this paper highlights that there is a
presence of relationship between the style of leadership and the motivation of the workforce. The
article further highlights that the correlation is positive with style of transformation; on the other
hand the correlation is negative with the style of transaction.
The aim of the article that is reviewed in this paper was to critically evaluate the
perception of the employees of the department in a privately owned organization regarding the
factors of motivation and how these factors are directly related to the styles of leadership. Thus a
questionnaire is developed which was actually taken from a study similar to the topic of this
article. The chief research questions of the article are how the employees of the organization see
the relationship between motivation and leadership, whether the workforce is extrinsically or
intrinsically motivated, how the business leaders motivate the workforce and what the leaders
want to motivate the employees in future (Alghazo and Al-Anazi 2016).

3CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF AN ARTICLE
The major importance of this paper is to find the bond between the achievement and the
motivation. The major point of this study is that the employees who are highly motivated are the
assets of the organization as in most cases they are generally high achievers. In this context, it is
worth mentioning that motivation in the workforce can be maintained and enhanced in many
ways. As stated by Alghazo and Al-Anazi (2016) some of the business leaders might be inclined
towards motivating the employees by rewarding them and on the other hand, for some leaders it
might appear that they can motivate their workforce by satisfying their individual needs. The
article is specific to the context where the employees are from a small department in a privately
owned organization in Saudi Arabia. The study stresses on two main factors and those are;
To identify the strategies that can potentially help the management to develop a positive
environment where the employees are motivated.
Understanding the impact of effective leadership regarding the motivation level of the
general workforce.
Styles of leadership
There are many types of leadership that can be found in business organizations and in
different situations different types of leadership can be seen effective. In this section of this paper
various types of leaderships are discussed.
When the business leaders take autocratic decisions, the employees have no right to
counter the decisions and the management has the full influence over the taken decision
(Alghazo and Al-Anazi 2016).
When the leaders or the management takes a decision after consulting with the other
employees of the organization, it can be referred to as a consultation type of leadership.
