In the current scenario of the competitive business environment, leadership plays a vital
role in the companies as it helps the employees to perform at their best and deliver the successful
outcomes. However, in many companies, the ineffective leadership fails in leading their teams by
being an example and lack of proper communication skills in achieving the success. The leaders
have often difficulty in establishment of the trust with their followers that lead to negative impact
on the entire efficiency of the companies.
In many companies, the major reasons regarding to the failure of the company includes
the following:
As commented by Ramsey et al. (2017), lack of direction as well as teamwork as in such
situations, the leaders think regarding themselves or their benefit. There is no such situation for
fostering teamwork among the employees and there is lack of productivity.
On the other hand, there is low morale among employees as they feel that their decisions
are not being heard and it impacts their morale in performing the tasks in an efficient manner
(Alexander, Carson & Mackey, 2019). For instance- At Apple Inc, there was a situation during
the autocratic leadership of Steve Jobs, wherein turnover among the employees were more and it
created lack of profitability in the company. From the example of Apple Inc, it can be understood
in a clear manner that bad leadership of Steve Jobs was the main element that impacted their
production.

From the analysis of the different kinds of issues related to proper leadership aspect
which impacts the growth of the companies negatively. Therefore, from the example and
instance of the Countdown Supermarket are as follows:
From the example of Countdown Supermarket, it has been noticed that the company
follows the transformational leadership style which helps the superiors in managing the
subordinates. As per the CEO of Countdown, he feels that the motivation and flexibility are the
two major approaches which are needed to be implemented that helps the employees to showcase
their ideas and it makes them feel valued as well. the transformational leaders are continually
striving towards improving the qualities of the leadership and it assists them in stimulating the
followers for exhibiting outstanding performance.
Therefore, from the performance of the Countdown Supermarket, transformational
leaders try to motivate the followers to the great extent for bringing the best out of them (Pyc,
Meltzer & Liu, 2017). This in turn makes each and every employee working in the company to
put his or her fullest effort with personal commitment along with the sense of the ownership,
thereby improving performance, profitability and productivity of the company as a whole
(Palmer, 2017).
Therefore, from the analysis of the article, it can be concluded that no leader is perfect
and each of them have their own strengths as well as weaknesses. However, it can be seen that in
order to improve the leadership prospects in a certain manner, it is highly recommended that
superiors and subordinates try to perform the different tasks in an efficient manner. From the
organizational example of Countdown Supermarket, wherein the CEO of the company prefers to

take the advice from different followers as he or she feels that employees are the crucial asset of
the company and their opinions are needed to be followed.
