1PERSONALITY ANALYSIS
Personality has been defined from different viewpoints by various researchers.
Personality is defined as an individual’s characteristic way of thinking, behaving and feeling. It
includes the mood, the attitudes, and opinions of an individual. Allport gives one such definition
that analyses the concept of personality. He defined personality as “the dynamic organization
within the individual of those psychophysical systems that determine his characteristic behaviour
and thought” (Omheni et al., 2014).
The Bridgestone Tire Company is one of the largest tire manufacturers in the world. To
shoulder the responsibilities of such a huge company it is mandatory that the leader of the
company Masaaki Tsuya, be committed, honest and have a positive attitude towards the progress
of the company. The big five personality indicators place the personality of the leader in the
category of extraversion, openness to experience, conscientiousness, emotionally stable and
agreeable (Aronoff & Wilson, 2014). This is evident by the decisions that the leader takes on
behalf of the company. It is committed to adhering to the morals and principles that fosters
integrity. They have brought new innovative products and it is important that the leader be open
to experience in order to take such decisions
The Myers-Brigg personality indicator places him in the ESTJ category that stands for
Extravert, Sensing, Thinking and Judging. Since the leader of the company is organized and
makes spontaneous decisions, is energized and focuses on details, he fits the category (Omheni et
al., 2014). Eysenck personality questionnaire is another tool of assessing the personality of the
leader that places him in the extraverted, emotionally stable and has stimulus control (Furnham
& Crump, 2015).
