Introduction
Ever since my early days in school, I have always believed in collaboration because of
the many advantages that come with it. I wanted to actively take part in class discussions and
argue out my point. I have realized that working collaboratively with teams is so helpful because
it has assisted me to develop interpersonal skills such as speaking and listening. Working
together as a team can help achieve more than when one is working alone. Apart from assisting
me to develop my skills, it has also helped me in my career growth because I can now speak
confidently in front of many people. Through working with a team, I have learnt to be a good
speaker rather than just a listener, but I still need to improve my leadership skills as I plan to be a
great leader in future. Therefore, I am going to discuss how working with teams has impacted my
life career wise and personal growth.
Throughout my school life, I wanted to sharpen my leadership skills because inside I
knew that I would be a great leader in future. I remember during group presentations in class, I
would volunteer to do the presentation when others were not willing to do so. Through such
discussions, I have learnt to be confident when talking to people which was very hard for me
before. In many occasion, I have challenged my leadership skills whenever I join any team
whether it is class discussion team or a school team. By actively collaborating with groups, I am
now able to lead anywhere I am given that responsibility comfortably without any fear of making
a mistake because I believe in myself.
I have realized also that working with teams have helped me achieve things easily which
could have been a bit hard if I was working alone because people have different skill personal
attributes, and abilities. When all these are brought together, new ideas are generated hence

getting a solution becomes easier. Also, participating actively in teams has helped become more
responsible and develop speed to meet the set deadline for a specific task. Working as a team
means dedication towards achieving goals for the success of the whole team. This means that I
now work with speed to make sure I do not fail my team members.
I strongly believe that with all the skills and the knowledge I have gained through
participating in teams, I am now a better person. I plan to use all these skills to improve my
career and also extend them at my place of work. Additionally, am hopeful that with such skills,
I will be able to change my community by actively interacting with people I meet and motivating
them. Being a leader means communicating with people and listening to them then offering a
solution. As a person who wants to be a future leader, participating collaboratively in teams has
really helped me realize this dream because I have all it takes to be a good leader.

Self-review and self-management
Thinking about long-term learning, I want to focus more on self- review and self-
management and how it has impacted my life. I believe that the skills I have gained in both self-
review and self-management has given me the knowledge to achieve my personal goals and
those of the organization where I will be working. As Daniel Goleman says, self-management is
a combination of self-control, achievement, optimism, adaptability, initiative, and transparency.
On the other hand, self-review is the assessment of self-progress over a period of time for the
purpose of self- improvement. I can attribute my success to the skill acquired from both activities
because they have assisted me to develop production skills through commitment and time

management. I am now able to set long-term goals for my career and to overcome challenges I
come across in day to day life. The purpose of this essay is to discuss how self-review and self-
management have helped me grow in my personal life, studies and my career.
Self-management has been an essential part of my learning process because it has
enabled me to set suitable targets and achieve them through dedication and commitment.
Through self-review, I have been able to realize what I know and what I do not know in my
studies. Also, it has given me the knowledge to solve problems and make decisions on what I
need to do whenever I am faced with challenges. Since self- review is a process that students do
on their own, the process has enabled me to become a responsible person who can make the right
decisions. Self-review has not only been useful in my learning but also in my career. It has
assisted me in deciding on which job best suits me because I know my strengths and weaknesses.
I have always been a thinker and gaining self-management skills for life-long learning
has never been a hard task on my side. One thing I am sure of is that time management is of the
essence when it comes to the achievement of long-term goals. To me, self-management has
assisted me to maximize my productivity and build networks with people who I am sure will be
of great help to me. Through self-management, I have been able to achieve all my goals and
learn skills for my career. Another improvement is my ability to embrace change quickly and I
can say that this has assisted me to identify new opportunities whenever they arise. I have also
been able to encourage so many people through my success story to motivate them because to
some gaining self-management skills may be a bit difficult.

I feel that I have acquired adequate skills and expanded my knowledge but I need to be
more prepared to add value to the organization where I will be working. I think it will be useful
to experiment more with different organizations to adapt quickly in case of any changes. With
