Identify a Leader - Power
1. Former CEO of Volkswagen, Martin Winterkorn is one example that shows how
harmful dictatorship power in leadership can contribute unethical and illegal
operations within a company. His hard-driving perfectionism kept him motivated
while conducting wrongdoings. For instance, his company had to pay a huge price
along with getting notice of violation and a criminal investigation against VW
(Glazer, 2016). Steve Jobs is one of the most inspiring transformational leaders who
uses his perfectionist leadership approach in positive way. For instance, the
employees in his company are been recruited on the basis of abilities rather than
behaviour or culture adopted by them. His vision and passion towards work kept him
motivated to make Apple Inc turn into a successful company (McInerney, 2011).
Leadership Scenarios
1. Under this scenario, I will use Hersey Blanchard’s telling behaviour as this approach will
allow me to instruct and monitor my employee’s performance alongside motivating
him/her positively (Meier, 2016).
2. Under this scenario, supportive leadership approach will be undertaken by me that can
help in establishing an emotional support for my employee (Hirt, 2016).
3. Participative leadership approach will be adopted by me in this scenario through which I
will consult with my employees regarding team project work. This model is extensively
used by leader’s when followers expect their leaders to take advice from them and
consider their needs in workplace (Hirt, 2016).

4. In this scenario, I will use participating leadership behaviour through which I will access
my employees, get involved with their teamwork and motivate them by new ways or
change the reward system to show concern for their needs (Meier, 2016).
5. In the given scenario, achievement leadership style will be undertaken by me through
which I can set new challenging goals in front of my competent employees to boost their
morale. Through this leadership approach, I will demonstrate work standards and what
are been expected from them and introduce rewards that can retain employees from
leaving the workplace (Hirt, 2016).
