Introduction
The following paper aims at determining the different leadership challenges faced by the
individuals at the time of working in the organizations. I will be discussing about the different
challenges I have faced in the current jon situation. I will have to discuss about the different
issues that I have faced in my previous job roles and the ways I have planned to tackle them.
These issues will be important to determine how I will have to deal with several leadership
challenges I have faced in my job roles (Bratton & Gold, 2017). I will also highlight upon the
leadership journey I have gone through in my life. These are the challenges that have made me
tough and I will look upon improving my leadership skills that will benefit the organization (Du
et al., 2013). The influence of my seniors has influenced me a lot so I can achieve my dreams in
my professional career. I hope that my capabilities will influence my juniors and they will work
hard as well.
Current role, responsibilities and leadership challenges
Currently I am working at the position of the Marketing Manager in the Marketing
Department of my company. In this current job role, I am liable for making the plans for the
proper advertising or promoting the services and products of our company. I have to conduct the
proper marketing research for the company that should direct the way of getting more customers
for the organization (Giltinane, 2013). As I have to study numerous customers and have to
collect the feedback from them to design the products accordingly, I face the problem of
communicating with them.
As I am kind of an introvert person, I cannot talk with them freely for hours. This is the
reason I had to give up some of my assignments to my colleagues in the past. In the earlier stages

of my current job role, I was even not able to inspire my junior employees in the marketing
department. This is why they had been unsuccessful in conducting the market research
successfully (Giltinane, 2013). This had made a huge impact in their careers as well. Of course
that impact was a negative one. This is why O had made it clear to myself that I had to overcome
these challenges in order to get more customers at our favor. The communication problem I had
faced had to be overcome by engaging with them more and understanding them properly
(Keskes, 2014).
Otherwise it would have been very difficult for me to understand the requirements of the
customers and provide them the thing that they wanted for (Bratton & Gold, 2017). I have to
think upon the ways in which I can deal with the pressures of work. I have to focus on the people
management programs in which I can give orders to my subordinates about how they can cope
up with the various communication challenges with the customers. This will lead them to gain
the confidence and deal with the problems in an organized manner (Bhatti et al., 2012).
Key aspects of leadership journey
My leadership journey has been quite a challenging one. I am quite a passionate person
about my leadership (Huxham & Vangen, 2013). Once I had been a trainee as well. During that
time, I had many problems in coping up with the difficult situations or the ways by which I could
motivate myself. During my student life, I had read about many organizations that could not live
up to their full potential because if the poor leadership skills of their managers
(Nanjundeswaraswamy & Swamy, 2014).
When I went to an organization during my internship period, I was very much inspired

as a successful leader and enhance my leadership skills. I have always been a person who has
wanted to learn the new things for the development of my organization. I have always craved for
such employees who are willing to learn the new things all the time. I stress on using the value
based resources for the organization that could enhance my leadership skills indeed. As learned
from the Operations Manager of my previous organization, I like to put much stress on the
employee empowerment. This has enabled me to understand the qualities inherent in the
individuals (Mitchell, 2013).

Feedback on the current leadership style
I cannot only rely on my own capabilities to get the best outcomes for the organization. O
would need the help of my partners and colleagues in this task as well. The leadership style will
become much effective only when I can direct my team towards achieving the goal for the
company. Now I like the task of communicating with our customers. This helps me to come
close with many customers with different cultural backgrounds and languages (Lussier & Achua,
2015).
This leads me to collect the information about their culture and language. Thus I keep on
learning the new things all the time. This keeps me dynamic and I enhance my leadership skills.
This learning process always helps me to motivate my subordinates and I can show them myself
as an instance about how to grow as a passionate leader (Iqbal, Anwar & Haider, 2015). I just do
not want to bark orders at them. Rather I want to engage with them passionately and know about
their point of view. This becomes very much influential for everyone in the process. I have
collected the opinions from most of my team members and most of them said that they like the
way I lead them (Burke, 2017).
I take their opinions under consideration and finally take the decision by consulting with
them. Thus my interpersonal and social skills also improve as well. I make personality
assessments of my juniors and this helps me to understand what kind of modifications will be
important in this scenario (Iqbal, Anwar & Haider, 2015).
Implications of the feedback
The feedback process on the leadership style is a very important factor for all the
organizations. The subordinate employees all have shown a positive state of mind in dealing with

the complex workplace situations under me. As the Marketing Manager I had to be authoritative
in many situations. I had to face many situations in which I had to take the decisions very
quickly. I needed the support and opinions of my colleagues. This is the time that I got the
support from all my colleagues indeed (Northouse, 2018). My colleagues have motivated me
much to achieve the objectives of the company. They have always backed me up whenever I
wanted for it. My philosophy of coaching and leading the team has been effective since the
employees have also been motivated enough. This motivation has wonders as our company has
gained a huge success in the market competition in the last three years. This success would not
have been possible without their help (Northouse, 2018).
Theory and frameworks
The different theories and frameworks can be applied in this context. The theories that
can be applied to my philosophy of leadership are the transformational and democratic
leadership. As a transformational leader, I always communicate between the top management
and my subordinate employees in a way that they can achieve the goals of the company indeed. I
always motivate the employees in a way that they can be able to achieve the goals of the
organization successfully (Burke, 2017). I try to say them that they can earn more if they work
with full potential and get good opportunities for their future. I have worked as a successful
democratic leader as well since I have always wanted the opinions of my fellow colleagues. This
is because I admire their efforts and believe that their opinions can bring in the better change for
the company as well. This has helped the employees when the changes have taken place. They
have been able to adapt to these changes very easily. The democratic leadership style has helped
to grow as a leader positively. This is why I am indebted to all my colleagues and subordinates
who have helped me to grow as a leader.
