INTRODUCTION
Leadership and management are the two important concepts within the organization
which are interlinked with each other. Leadership can be defined as an ability of an individual
to perform task related to guiding employees in a particular direction. On the other side,
management can be defined as an ability of individual to manage different people to perform
various jobs in accordance with achieving the organizational goals by using the resources in
an appropriate manner (Cameron and Green, 2019).
In relation to the current report, Ann organization is Ann summers. It is a British
multinational retail company specialized in lingering and sex toys. Organization is operating
more than 140 high Street stores in UK. This organization was founded in 1970 by Michael
Caborn-Waterfield.
In relation to the current report, it consists of discussion about the theories and
perspective of leader and manager for way to achieve corporate goals of respective company.
This also includes the effectiveness of leaders perspective in ethical values and demonstrating
the key effective leadership and management behavior which impact on the organizational
performance. This report also includes discussion about the change models and way of
leaders and managers to implement the changes within business operations.

There are various leadership theories which are adopted by organisation for providing
guidance to its employees of business organisations. There are several theories that are going
to be mentioned below:
Contingency theory: Herein, this theory signifies that no one method or style that is
related to leadership may be applicable in all conditions. It is depend upon leader to take the
right actions in order to achieve favourable outcome in future period of time. Therefore, the
leader of Ann Summer focuses on analysing the need of follower and performs different
functions and activities in an appropriate manner (Ceri-Booms, Curşeu and Oerlemans,
2017). Leader within and summer are also using the contingency theory which is helpful to
the form in managing the functions of different individuals according to the situations. For

instance, manager within the form used to analyse organisations environment and try to
change their performance style according to the change within the environment.
Situation leadership Theory: In this theory, the leader focuses on performing their
work according to different situation and circumstances. In reference of Ann Summer, the
leader emphasized on performing different work in an appropriate manner according to the
situation that help in increasing productivity and profitability level in future period of time.
Therefore, there are various theories which are adopted by organisation for increasing
productivity level in future period of time.
Motivational and team working principles and theory
There are various motivation theory in which the Maslow theory which is adopted by
company that is given by Abraham Maslow in the year of 1950. In reference of chosen
organisation, they focus on satisfying needs and wants of customer during particular phase of
time period. There are various levels of motivation theory that is going to be discussed below:
Physiological need this is considered as a basic step of Maslow need theory. It
includes all the basic need such as air, water, food which must be satisfied by business
organisation in order to satisfy its employees and achieving goal as well as objective in
timely manner (Coccia, 2017).
Safety need after fulfilling psychological needs, the organisation focuses on
providing safety to it subordinate which involves job security, medical benefits and many
more that help in increasing or enhancing performance level of business organisation.
Social needs after fulfilling physiological and safety need, it is necessary to satisfy
social or belongingness need. In context of chosen organisation named as Ann summer their
focus is on satisfy the social need of an individual person by maintaining superior position
and goodwill in society.
Self-esteem need the individual person focuses on satisfying the wants of individual
person in respect of status, prestige as well as self-respect. The manager of Ann summer
focuses on providing rewards to its employee for encouraging them to perform work in
organisation (Gotteiner, 2016).
Self-actualization needs herein, the individual person get satisfied and perform their
work in order to achieve goal and objective in timely manner. There are various needs which

In addition to this for developing a team Tuckman theory is adopted by Ann Summer
Company that is going to be mentioned below:
Tuckman theory of team development was given by Bruce tuck man in the 1965. This
model help in developing team in which the individual one must expertise in particular field.
There are five steps of developing team that is going to be mentioned below:
Forming: There are various tasks or work that is given to its team member for
performing work in timely manner. The individual person comes from various background
and they focus on interacting with one another in an effective way.
Storming: Herein, the team member focuses on offering guidance in order to finish
the project in timely manner. Every individual person has various views in order to resolve
issues or conflict during particular phase of time period (Isada and Isada, 2017).
Norimng: Here in the individual person focuses on performing their work that is
completely depend on value in order to complete project in timely manner.
Performing: It is important to possess high skill, capability, knowledge for
performing work in an appropriate manner.
Adjourning in this level the work that is connected to project is depend upon work
related to project is finished and member of team get separated after completing the work.
On the basis of above analysis, it has been analysed that team management is
important for completing activity as well as function of business organisation in an
appropriate manner. It is significant to resolve different kind of conflict and grievances in an
effective manner.
Effective management and leadership
Ethical management and leadership is a basic past part within an organisation which
is helpful to the form in achieving its objectives and managing the functioning of different.
This is possible to the organisation because it helps in managing the employees in
contributing towards the ethical structure and framework (Johnston and Marshall, 2016).
Here, management and leadership within the organisation work towards ethical values and

operations. In context of this, Ann summers can use corporate social responsibility and
various other factors which are directly related to a thick and values framework of the firm.
This is helpful to the organisation in managing successful operations and increasing the

up a good image in the market. Ethical leadership require ethical leaders where they can
ensure the ethical practices carried out through the organisation and its natural position by

It is essential for every manager and leader within the organisation to behave and egg
in appropriate manner so that it can manage different functions and can help the firm in
achieving the goals and objectives. Some of these are mentioned below:
Maintaining organisational culture: Behaviour of leader and manager directly
impact on the organisational culture of the firm which is related to the goals and objectives. If
leader follow autocratic leadership style then organisation will follow rigid structure. In
context of Ann summers, leader within the firm can follow democratic leadership sign which
helps in managing the behaviour of individual by increasing their participation and managing
flexibility an organisational structure (Nazim, 2016).
Conflict management: Leadership and management behaviour within the firm will
also impact on the conflict management. This is because, if leader follow a proper system to
manage the conflict and changes within the firm then it will be easier for employees to adopt

and manager within the organisation to manage the changes in an appropriate way. In context
of Ann summer, organisation is using the changes in an appropriate way and managing these
changes to achieve the goals and objectives. These three stages are discussed below:
Unfreezing: The first stage in the change management process. Under this stage, it
involves improving the red line is as well as willingness of the people to change realise from

functions which are performed by a leader and manager within the organization. Manager can
use change models to implement the change as well as different leadership theories like
situation leadership theory, contingency theory and more to lead the employees. This can also

managing effective teams to achieve the goals and objectives and timely manner.
