Change management is an integral part of management of any kind of organization
because changes are inevitable and in the business sector it is imperative that changes are
handled in a way that does not harm the company and it is mostly done by implementing new
strategies and policies in a way fit to tackle the changes. In this assignment I will be
summarizing and interview I have conducted with a certain company in Torrance, CA, which
is the place I live in. I have interviewed a particular representative, Mr. David Summers of
the same company to gather information about how they have tackled change by change
management.
The company xyz is retailer and although they are one of the leaders in the business,
they still have to ensure that change management is done perfectly to retain its status.
I questioned him about how xyz has managed the shift to the digital world to sell their
products, through their very new website, because of the enormous competition by Amazon
and similar applications that are supplying goods to the doorstep of people. He said that the
fact that xyz is going digital is very welcome by all the employees and customers, they are
willing to battle the major shopping applications, all out, however they still believe that a
segment of people still like the xyz shopping experience better. I asked him how he is coping
with the pressure. He says that xyz has still managed to retain most of the customers on the
offline base, therefore he believes that the pressure had not yet set in, and will if there is a
decrease in the base. I asked him about how employees are shifted to the digital department,
to which he answered the digital department is usually maintained by older yet
technologically savvy employees and a few new recruits who handle the very core digital
part. I asked him what the problems of the change was, to which he said that the only
problem was learning how to the digital marketplace works because for veterans like him,
this knowledge is relatively new and it is taking time.

In conclusion it is evident that company xyz has utilized change management to
support digitization along with retention of the physical bases for the company’s popular
shopping experience in order to retain the existing customers and garner attention from new
customers.
