organisation. Change is characterised as a continuous process within each and every area of the
business that is very crucial. With regard to Vodafone, the goal is to opt for improvements in
company functionality. The result obtained through this would lead to progress in their results as
well as competitiveness that will provide them with a competitive advantage within the market
for a longer period of time.
There are various types of changes that may occur within the business structure, as it is
not mandatory for each individual to respond in an affirmative manner to such changes. This will
result in the development of obstacles to improvements within the company's culture. In
addition, they create a void that results in a detrimental effect on the organisation's brand image
overall in front of their customers. These challenges have been outlined with below respect to
change management:
Lack of Engagement of employees: It is one of the most significant hurdles, i.e. workers
are not interested in organisational functions when refurbishing them. There are a
significant number of workers inside each company who would elude progress and
believe that this is a pessimistic approach. In addition , workers are fearful that the
organisation will lose them. There are some variables with regard to Vodafone, such as
faithful and loyal workers who carry out their work in a company in recent years, this
causes fear feeling (Nakkula and Toshalis, 2020).
Lack of Proper Communication Strategy: There is a broad variety of companies that
have inadequate communication techniques in an enterprise within a competitive environment.
This will demonstrate that corporate leadership does not interfere with their plans and employee
policies. With regard to Vodafone, improvements have been introduced by higher levels of
managers and corporate management so that workers can vote for them affirmatively. In addition
to this, Force field model of change management can also be used by Vodafone, they have been
illustrated below:
Force Field Analysis: It is an initial methodology that is used by a wide variety of
managers within their respective organisations to analyse change management. Professor Kurt
Lewin has provided this method. This consists of five steps in which management and leaders
will encourage their workers to understand the leadership of change. All these steps have been
shown below:
9
Document Page
Force field model comprises of facilitating as well as restraining elements associated with
change, they are elaborated below:
Phase 1: This is a primary and leading process wherein leaders, along with corporate
leadership, analyse the current business environment with the help of effective instruments.
Through this, Vodafone management will calculate requirements as well as adjust requirements,
along with research, to figure out where change is required.
Phase 2: Each and every reform carried out by the company includes such hazards. In
this, managers define the degree of risks when carrying out any transition together with leaders.
With regard to Vodafone 's management, several methods have been selected to minimize the
risks connected with transition by helping them (Ellis, 2018).
Phase 3: At this point, Vodafone's top-level executives recognize key areas in which
improvements or improvements are required. In addition, they can also access the forms in which
these improvements can be taken about in these organizations' working environments.
Phase 4: Together with Vodafone executives, the management establishes the action plan
in an appropriate manner and within a defined period of time. Besides this, it includes
improvements in whole systems (Garland, 2018).
Phase 5: Together with Vodafone management, these top managers will scrutinise and
estimate their plans and policies. In addition, apart from carrying out evaluations, it is necessary
to analyse successful adjustments in terms of needs as well as conditions.
Therefore, uses of force field analysis can minimize the negative impacts of change in
Vodafone that have created a good business environment and increase the performance in
changing environment.
As Vodafone faced the problem of lower sales due to lack of communication and lack of
employee engagement where force field analyses become more progressive and beneficial for
organization as it helped to identify the problems and bring the changes in their organisation and
operate the business effectively. In this, management share the all information and new
communication plan with their staff and get their ideas which can help to make the right business
decision by reducing negative impacts and develop their business effectively with the help of
attaining the business objectives.
Facilitating Factors: This consists of element that are open to the company and even
beyond the internal setting to inspire them for selecting the necessary way to make

improvements. In this, obsolete techniques that are not successful in generating the requisite
profits are elements that are included. In addition, the morale of workers for bringing
improvements to a company would often be rejected. Within Vodafone, these factors affect
management and leadership. Leaders are responsible for communicating organisational needs
with workers and managers are obliged to communicate with leaders in the appropriate manner.
Restraining Factors: This signifies elements which are prevalent in the external world
and enables the managerial team to make adjustments within the organisation's working
structure. These variables include government rules as well as legislation, worker resistance, etc.
in order to embrace changes in the climate. With regard to Vodafone, a significant number of
people and organisations exist so that they can choose to improve the working climate
(Chowdhury, 2019).

of organisational mismanagement. Through this, jobs are affected and they may not be able to
reach their goals. This is achieved due to the lack of contact between management and workers
and would lead to an increase in circumstances such as conflicts. A few of them are shown
below:
Communication problem: There are a wide variety of difficulties that are encountered
due to lack of touch, such as being unable to explain emotions, relationship problems,
and various others. They apply to circumstances that may take place within an
organisation. An person can clarify their needs in this regard, but it is not important for
other individuals to understand exactly what they are explaining. This will create a
depressive effect on organisational functioning (Ceil, 2018).
