Executive Summary
TO: Mahesh Babu Ghattamaneni, Director of communications, ABC Ltd
FROM: Nagarjuna Reddy Tamma, Communication Department
DATE: November 18th, 2018
SUBJECT: “How do leaders communicate to execute their strategy in the present era? “
Corporate Communication is the practice of evaluating, maintain and cultivating corporate
identity. Leaders must implement the strategies for molding image of the company and
sustaining its long-term positive image. They must also communicate effectively with internal
and external stakeholders of the company.
So, with the help of this memo, I would state the various methods adopted by the leaders to
execute their strategies in the current era.
Efficient and accurate communication act as a significant aspect for a successful leader. It is
important that the leaders must learn how to communicate successfully as it will assist their
teams to complete the projects timely. It would further lead to the accomplishment of its goals by
the organization. Leaders must possess the ability to direct, motivate and stimulate their team.
Their focus is towards the achievement of results as they are trained and have expertise in
managing the difficult situations thereby leading to enhancement in the outputs to their teams
(Tourish 2014,p.80). Therefore they must have good communication skills which would develop
the better understanding amongst their subordinates regarding the strategies to be adopted by
them for the accomplishment of the goals of the company. It was once said by John Maxwell

that,'' Leaders become great not because they have authority rather due to their capability to
empower their subordinates “(Çetin, Karabay & Efe 2012,p.228).
One of the essential keys to great leadership is communication. A leader possesses exceptional
skills through which he can step forward to mentor his team who lack in experience and skills.
He tries to inculcate those skills by encouraging them and assisting them for accomplishing their
targets (Terek 2015,p.74). So, in order to become a good and efficient leader, one should be a
good communicator. Great leaders have clear vision and values and believe in promoting those
values in their team. As Peter Drucker once said," Effective leadership is not only about being
liked or making speeches rather it is defined by results not its characteristics” (Hackman &
Johnson 2013).
The managerial aspect approach of leadership communication is the presentation of expressive
cultural understanding, management of a team and its meetings, listening patiently along with
providing training facilities and mentoring of a team by the leaders (Men 2014, p.257). The core
aspects approach comprises of excellent writing and speaking skills possessed by the leader. He
must expand these skills so that bigger teams or groups can be leaded and managed. Moreover,
the corporate aspects approach are the skills for maintaining relations with the employees,
communicating during crisis and changes and to media associations and image building of the
company. As Kenneth Blanchard said,'' The key to successful leadership is not adopting an
authoritarian approach rather creating an influence on others” (Argenti 2017, p. 147).
Hence to conclude, it can be said that a leader cannot become an effective leader until he is not
an excellent communicator. He must possess the capability to let his team follow him. He must
possess sufficient knowledge and communicate it to others.
