The term leadership encompasses the application of practical skills as well as the ability
of an individual or an organization to guide and help the others. In this regard, it can be said that
a successful leader not only guides, give directions to others but also helps the subordinates in
taking up decision and work independently. Any organization that aims at successful and
harmonious maintenance of organizational environment needs to focus on building a
collaboration with the employees (Nahavandi, pp. 27). The most effective style of leadership that
helps in building a harmonious organizational environment and builds a sense of mutual trust and
understanding amongst the employees and the organization, is the collaborative leadership style.
Within an organizational scenario, a leader guides the individual employees along with
the team. In this regard, it can be said the leaders play important roles in managing an effective
functioning of an organization. The Collaborative leadership method allows the employees as
well as the leaders to build mutual trust and understanding (Schein, pp. 32). In addition to this,
the collaborative method of leadership helps in the process of active involvement of all the
stakeholders within an organization. By adopting the Collaborative leadership philosophy, an
organization becomes able to include and incorporate the views and ideas of the employees as
well as the leaders. This in turn helps in building a sense of inclusion amongst the employees of
an organization. Collaborative leadership philosophy allows ample scope of communication
amongst the employees and the management (Keiser et al., pp. 18). This opportunity of free
communication makes all employees of an organization as valuable resources and grows a sense
mutual respect and understanding. In addition to that, the process of collaboration and effective
communication engages the employees in organizational changes as well. Moreover, by adopting
collaborative method of leadership, an organization empowers the employees. This is highly

As the collaborative leadership allows open and free communication, it can be regarded
as a highly effective leadership philosophy that encompasses the elements of communication,
