Disagreements are part of office culture, disagreements and conflicts within the team
members are normal in an organization so to resolve these issues is part of work. The
roaster on which the dispute between the employees is created needs to be solved as early
as possible because the dissatisfaction between the employees will not result in any kind of
productivity and also will result in higher employee turnover so in order to retain the
employees and make them work coordinately a cooperatively there is a need to find the
solution to the problem. The manager has to solve the problem at the workplace and act as
a mediator between the team members to resolve the conflict.
Firstly I will try to analyze the problem and the situation within the team, the solution to the
problem can only be derived after the problem is known clearly. I will be listening to
everyone’s view on the given problem and what are their personal and team requirements.
The problem listening session will be held individually and personally so that everyone can
explain the problems more openly. This can only be done by asking questions with detailed
answers, I will have to keep patience and without creating favouritism I have to give them
feedback about their wants and what may change their perspective towards better. I have
to listen to both sides of the coin and then without losing my emotions I have to give
personal and professional suggestions according to the situation. For creating proof either I
can record the whole meeting or should make the team members write a statement where
each of the team members should describe the situation in their own words. The written
statement wills proof as well as a certain statement that provides the cause of the conflict
within the organization. The team members have to consider the situation of the other
team members everyone should think after stepping into other's shoes and then providing
their respective criticism comments on the situation. There needs to be a regular meeting
may be weekly where every employee has to discuss their daily work tasks and what their
responsibilities are towards the other team members and the organization. This will
minimize the human-based errors of repeating the task or to not schedule the tasks

according to the timer and due dates. Various mistakes happen due to less communication
of the team members, it is possible that the work is allocated in an improper manner. The
employee work schedule can also be done through software which can properly and
regularly allocate the work and assign the same to each of the employees on time. The team
needs to be very focused on their work and should not interfere with what is being assigned
or not assigned to others. In this way, the conflicts can be controlled at the workplace. Also,
continuous motivation is required for retaining the interest of the employee in work. The
performance cycle is to be maintained and continued for a longer period so that the

John is a branch manager who is best at his work at the travel agency he is a highly skilled
and effective worker who has good experience in the sales filed but he has certain
responsibilities as a manager that he needs to fulfil. The manager has some authority and
responsibilities towards his team and subordinates which he is not performing, john is busy
in attending the customers all the time which leaves him no time to give to the employees.
Employees also face certain problems in performing their tasks and they also face some
challenges that can only be achieved with the help of the manager, but the manager doesn’t
have time to attend these problems. This type of leadership style is called the lassies fair
type of leadership where the manager or the leader is unwilling to take the responsibility of
the whole team and the manager doesn’t care about the team, everyone is free to take any
decisions regarding their professional behaviour and professional situations at the
workplace. Here the authority and responsibility provided to john are not fully utilized by
him. In this type of leadership, the guidance by the leader is very less and thus there are
very high chances of errors and mistakes by the team members.
At Qantas telephone sales, Michelle uses the democratic style of leadership where the
leader is fulfilling his responsibilities and allows the flow of decisions and ideas within the
team, thus Michelle behaves like one of the team members and is doing very well in mixing
with the team members socially. In democratic leadership style, the team members are
satisfied from their leader, this is because they have a helping hand to their daily problems
and who also values their ideas and suggestions, the working environment is very hostile
and comfortable for the team members to work efficiently and effectively.
Maria is following an autocratic approach of leadership, where the leader has the
responsibility and authority to make all the decisions and there is no involvement of the
employees (subordinates) in decision making. Maria is a very tough leader who is being
proud of her strict behaviour with the subordinates because of the praise she gets from the
other departments for her leadership style. In this style, the employee is not satisfied with
