Introduction
In the firm, conflict is being regarded as some form of
disagreement and discord which arises within group and tend to cause
direct effect on the smooth going work of enterprise (Wolff, 2013).
Hence, it is correct to said that conflict can be consider as inevitable part
of corporation. However, dealing with the conflict is a great challenge to
the firm. But, if situations which arises conflict within firm will not being
managed at that time direct effect of the same will be seen on sales and
profits (Helms and Oliver, 2015). Thus, in the conflict management
practices leader tend to play very important role. It not only show correct
direction to firm but also plays very effectual role in terms of taking action
towards the condition which has given flame to conflict.
For the present study, Tesco is taken into consideration. It is
the retail firm which has established its remarkable presence in UK
market.
Rationale
What is the issue?
For any firm it is very difficult with regard to identify the source due to
which conflicting situations arises within enterprise. Thus, in order to do the same
leaders tend to play very effectual role. Inappropriate management of the conflict
creates problem in managing human resources as well as declines the performance of
the organization. So, it is the major research issue.

It can be concluded that leader do
have very important role in conflict
management practices. This is because it is
with the help of leader only a specific problem
which is occurring within enterprise can be
identified. Hence, on taking appropriate action
with regard to the same manager of firm can
perform necessary improvements in their sales
and profit.

major research issue which has negative impact on human resource
management of the organization. Along with this, it creates problem in
employee relations also. Conflicts ate workplace can reduce individuals as
well as organizational performance of Tesco. Inappropriate management of
conflicts may occur due to different reasons. So, for determining these
reasons and role of leader researcher has decided to focus on this research
problem.

From the above graph, it is examined that 50% of respondents have
said that high work stress is the major reason for conflict within
firm. However, 30% of sample have said that tight and rigid policy
of Tesco arouses conflict between employer and employees and
thus it hampers their relationship significantly. In addition to this,
some sample have said that disagreement between workers with
regard to any aspect tend to arouse conflict within firm.
Why it is an issue now?
It is an issue now because Tesco has invested appropriate amount of money
for hiring new leaders for managing conflicts at workplace. But, still there leadership is
not appropriate for resolving conflicts. So, it is an issue now for Tesco. So, author has
decided to conduct investigation on this subject.

Thus, for resolving research issues respective report will critically analyse the role which
leader plays in the conflict management practices (Wolff and Yakinthou, 2013). Furthermore,
respective study has its usefulness for all firms which always try to get answer to the question that how
conflicting situation in enterprise can be managed.

It is an issue because poor management of conflict has negative impact on
performance of the firm. Along with this, it also ruin the working environment of the
organization. Conflicts at workplace can decline productivity and reduce the quality of
product and services also which may have direct impact on performance of the
company so, it is a crucial issue for an organization.
