For individual growth, it is very important for people to self-reflect upon their own strengths and
weaknesses. In order to do that, I took a Gallup’s strength finder quiz which helped me in
identifying my top five strengths. A brief description of these strengths is shared as below. I see
myself in a strong leadership role in the future and hence I have tried to associate my strengths
with the same.
The first strength as identified by the test is my ability to learn very fast. A leader must be open
to learning and new experiences (Nichols, 2016). I completely agree with this analysis as I have
always been fond of learning new things. I am certain that this ability will help me in widening
my horizons and improving my skills.
The second strength of mine as identified by the test was my ability to adapt to new
environments. I had never acknowledged this attribute of my personality before and therefore I
was pleasantly surprised. A leader often encounters highly unforeseen situations and this is why
it is important that he or she is able to adapt to new situations with ease (Daft, 2014).
The third strength was my ability to manoeuvre through challenges and achieve my goals. Over
the course of my life, I have encountered several challenges which have developed me into a
person who can face them head on. I have in fact worked hard in developing this ability. A leader
must be able to take on challenges head on and lead the team in difficult times (Northouse,
2017). I am sure that this ability of mine to break through my challenges and achieve my goals
can be a source of inspiration to my team members.
Leadership skills and capabilities were the fourth strength identified by the quiz. I completely
agree with this analysis. Throughout my life, I have been offered several leadership roles that

have changed my personality for the better. Through these roles I have learnt the importance of
being a good leader as well as the responsibilities that come with it. Leaders are bestowed upon
with the strong responsibility of motivating their team members (Antonakis & Day, 2017). I
believe I have strong motivation skills which are essential for a leader. Also I agree with this
analysis because I believe in leading by example. I am sure these abilities of mine will help me
embark upon the journey of leadership in my future endeavours.
Last but not the least, the test results also suggested that I possess excellent communication
skills. Communication has always been an essential part of my life. I continued participating in
several debates and declamations in my school. I enjoy communicating with people. Therefore I
completely agree with this analysis. Communication is an integral part of organizations as well.
Therefore I am sure that my ability to communicate effectively will surely assist me in the course
of my professional journey.
