INTRODUCTION
• As a leader, it is essential to be quite strong and developed mentally since the person has to manage a
lot of people. A leader is someone who besides getting the work done, has to plan for the future course
of the team or the organization, and has to ensure that the team is working hard enough, employee
well being, general communication and the confidence of the employees are all well kept.
• Hence, it is essential to understand that developing a self worth is essential, and for this a self insight is
needed.
• Self insight ensures that the leader is able to reflect on oneself and understand how and where things
went wrong, and how can the situation be improved.

SELF INSIGHT
• Self-insight generally implies the level of understanding that exists relative to the nature of one's self-
system (self-definition, needs, goals, attributes), while self-knowledge relates to the accuracy of
introspection about these internal states and capacities.
• It is important to build a self insight as it helps in understanding situation, evaluating them and finding
correct order out of them as well (Klimoski and Hu, 2012)
• It is essential since it requires a lot of self reflection and the ability to sit down and comprehend the
situation

REFLECTION
I have identified the following components of self insight in me as a part of this reflection task:
• Leadership style and behaviour
• Dealing with situations
• Maintaining relationships
• Team work
• Behaviour

LEADERSHIP STYLE
• Leadership styles gets affected adversely by the process of self insights in a leader. Self insight not only
allows the evaluation of oneself, but also ensures understanding the self relative to the situation and
taking corrective measures.
• Hence, I believe I changed for good and from now on, I will ensure a lot of success for my team with the
changed behaviour and approach towards leadership

DEALING WITH SITUATIONS
• I learnt that the approach towards dealing with situations too changes once I had taken onto self insight
since as I was now aware of the importance of understanding the situation and how important it is to
make the right decisions

MAINTAINING RELATIONSHIPS
• After developing a good base of self insight, it became easy for me to know and chose the right kind of
relationships and maintain them well.
• It was a little difficult considering I am a very open and extroverted person, however I believe I worked
well in filtering the right relationships and maintaining them as well

TEAM WORK
• Team work was a little problem for me in the beginning, but after understanding how it affect y
performance and my pursuit to success, my approach changed drastically.
• This was all because I was able to relate these issue with self insight, identify the problem and was able
to work on them as well.

BEHAVIOUR
• Behavioral issues are of importance for a leader. I worked hard on developing this for myself after
understanding the concept of self insight, and I was successful in doing so.
• While I was always well mannered with friends, strangers and coworkers alike, I still believed there is a
lot of scope of improvement, specially considering how I behave under stress and failure.

CONCLUSION
It is quite clear now that after the sense of self insight develops in a person, a lot of changes take place.
Since I experienced it for myself, I can say I am more mature now than before, and can make better
deicsions.
