Being the nurse, it is my prime responsibility to promote the health and wellbeing of the
patients. However, Fischer (2016) showed that effective leadership plays a major role in
managing the performance of other healthcare practitioners and take necessary action
accordingly in order to improve the same. Still, being a nurse I have certain strengths and
weaknesses which are discussed below:

leadership plays a major role in terms of generating positive behavior among the healthcare
practitioners which is very much needed in terms of leading them to provide high quality of
healthcare service to the patients. Being a nurse, it is my duty to apply effective leadership in
order to lead the healthcare practitioners properly. I have followed transactional leadership style
for the sake of making strong planning based on the healthcare needs.According to Porter-
O'Grady and Malloch (2015) in the healthcare organizations, the patients come from different
cultural and linguistic background. Thus, it is imperative to maintain cultural diversity among the

With the assistance of transformational leadership style, I have to maintain cultural diversity in
my workplace.
As a leader I will assess the components of culture effectively and apply them in the
broader organizational context and thus maintain cultural competency which is very much
needed in terms of dealing with the patients coming from different background. Maintaining
transparency is one of the major factors of providing high quality of service to the patients
(Grossman and Valiga 2016). Thus, as a nurse, It is my duty to practice social justice and thereby
enable all the healthcare practitioners to provide equal care to all the people without making any
kind of discrimination. Being a leader, I have also to maintain multigenerational workforce in
order to provide comprehensive care to all the people irrespective of their age.
Personal goal for leadership growth:
Leadership is one of the most significant factors of improving the health outcome. It has
been observed that conflict is the inevitable factor in the healthcare organization as the healthcare
practitioners come from different background. However, Scully (2015) showed that conflict can
pose a major threat towards taking comprehensive care to the patients. Thus, as a leader, it my
personal goal is “To strengthen my conflict management skill”. The plan of improving conflict
management skill is as follows:
