Introduction
Self-analysis is one of the most important and useful methods to build one's career path.
They have to make sure that they are taking help from a guide or a mentor in order to move in
the right direction. It is with the help and guidance of the coaches that individuals will be able to
reach their goals within a certain period of time (Avolio et al., 2016). However, there are also
certain self-help coaching models that enable individuals to attain their goals within a stipulated
time period. One such self-coaching growth model is the Whitman GROW model. I have used
this model in the assignment in order to develop a proper plan for reaching my objective within a
stipulated time period of about 5 years.
Discussion
I have selected the time period of five years as I feel that I will be suitable for the current
stage of my life. I am, currently on the verge of completing my final semester and then take up
an internship. I want to establish myself as a successful manager in the coming future days. As a
result of this, I feel that the period of 5 years will be suitable for me, 10 years would be very long
and on the other hand, a period of 2 years will be too short for me to undertake all the required
strategies that would be needed for the overall development of my career. Thus I will have to
undertake a personal analysis in a very attentive and cautious way. I have realized that in order to
establish myself as a successful manager I will have to take the feedback and the opinions of my
colleagues and also my friends. I have realized that in order to get a good carer I need to analyze
myself properly

Boyatzis Intentional Change models
Creating a personal vision
I am a very organized and empathetic person. Right from my childhood, I have been keen
on working in many group activities. Thus I feel that becoming a manager will be a suitable
professional post for me. I will be able to encourage all my team workers and ask them to
motivate them thoroughly (Boyatzis, 2018). As I am on the verge of completing my final
semester followed by an internship, I feel that a period of five years will be good enough for me
to identify my weakness and work over my strengths. Thus my ideal self is to become an ideal
manager who is empathetic in nature. I want to establish myself as a manager who will not only
be providing professional support to his employees but also
Comparing Ideal Self with Real Self
I have realized that there is a certain difference between my real self and my ideal self.
My real self is based on the opinion and the feedbacks of my colleagues. I am very caring about
my team members and my friends. I always want to make sure that I am being able to make
myself approachable whenever my colleagues are in need of some help. However, I have
realized that my friends do not really feel the same (Bracken, Rose & Church, 2016). Whenever I
have undertaken the Johari window analysis I realized that this very trait of caring and openness
comes under the hidden or the façade areas. This is because I have never shown to my colleagues
regarding this quality that is present within me. I often stay very quiet and occupied by myself.
This often makes my colleagues feel that I am not at all flexible. They feel that I try to keep

myself aloof from them whenever they are in need. Thus I have to work over the communication
skill and make sure that I am extending help to my colleagues whenever they are in need. I will
also have to wok over my decision-making skills. I have realized that I am often a safe man and
suffer from the problem of decision making. I always fear the outcomes of my decision. I have to
work over my decision making skill so that I can make my team members know that I am always
there to help them out.
Developing a Learning Agenda and Plan
As I have developed an understanding of the real self and the ideal self I will have to
develop a proper action plan that will be helping me to reach my goals. I will make sure that I am
moving forward in a step by step manner so that I have proper knowledge of the steps and the
resources that I will be requiring.

Practicing Desired Changes
I will try to follow all the methods outlined in the developmental plan. As per my
perception taking help from the mentors, coaches and my fellow colleagues is always a very
important and useful tool for self-development. I have realized that no strategy is useful until and
unless I am using them in real life situations.
Relationships That Help Us Learn
This is one of the most important parts of exercising any self-development plan. I will
always make sure that I am staying within the right kind of network or group. This will help me
to stay in a constant development process (Caldwell & Hayes, 2016). I will be able to keep a
check on my improvement strategies by knowing that my close ones will always be there to
support me. I will start interacting with my family, friends, mentors and particularly my
colleagues with whom interact on a daily basis. They will be helping me by pointing out the
mistakes and the areas of development in an unbiased manner.

Key leadership theories
Trait theory
Trait theory believes that people who are born with some specific attributes or traits can
become true leaders in the future. This theory talks about some inherent qualities that are present
within people. In other words, the trait theory favors the saying that leaders are born and not
made.
Transformational theory
This leadership theory says that leaders must try to create a change or a transformation
among their followers. They have to act like risk takers and as a visionary to their employees.
Transformational leaders have to inspire their employees by motivating them. I would like to
follow the transformational leadership theory in the future. I will inspire all the employees to be
innovative and come up with their creative ideas. I will always try to challenge the age-old
norms and always support my team members to suggest new and innovative business ideas. I
will respect all my employers irrespective of their ethnicity and socioeconomic status. I will
always use my domain knowledge to help them overcome their difficulties. Regular training and
employee skill development sessions will be conducted so that all the employees can avail proper
training facilities.

Exploring the motivations
Motivations will act as an encouragement towards attaining of the desired goals and
objectives. I have to identify those areas that actually help me to get encouraged. As per my
perceptions, my greatest motivation is to become independent and successful in the future. Thus
I will always have to keep them mind no matter whatever is the situation.
Getting the right mentor
A guide or coach is a prerequisite in the path of success. I have realized that my greatest
mentor is my boss. He is an experienced persona and is very helpful. I look upon him not only as
my mentor but my friend and philosopher as well. He helps me in judging and measuring my
level of skill and also helps me pointing out my errors. This is really very helpful in finding out
the right measures for overcoming the same.
Conduct self-analysis
As per my realization, a true leader is one who is well aware of his own drawbacks. I
have to follow the method of constant self-analysis and constant improvements in order to
succeed in the long run. In order to do this, I will stay in a proper network of people like friends,
team members in order to get constant feedback about my progress.

Influence, motivate and inspires in workplace
As per my perception, I will be able to influence my employees by setting an example
before them. I will always exhibit a positive, approachable and helpful attitude towards them.
This will help me to reach out to all my employees whenever they are in need. I will never
indulge in any illegal or unethical activities. Honesty and accountability will always stay my
prior objectives. I will work with full honesty and make sure that all the other employees are
following the same. I will also take regular feedback from my team and all other employees
regarding their experiences within the workplace. I will ensure them that immediate actions will
be taken if any of them are facing any difficulties or issues.
Motivation is best available through the reward and recognition system. As per my
understanding, the employees are the most valuable assets of an organization. Thus, in order to
establish myself as a true leader, I will have to take care of my followers as well. I will make
sure that the hard work and the efforts of my team members are always being rewarded. I will
develop the incentive and bonus system for all the employees. Apart from this, I will make sure
that there is no discrimination in my workplace. I will initiate a complete and all-round inclusion
system in my workplace which will ensure complete participation of all the employees in each
and every business activities.
Coaching others to enhance self-awareness
I have realized that none of the strategies can be successfully implemented unless there is
proper coaching or a model being followed. It is always good to work on self-development with
the help of a model. The Whiteman Grow model is one of the most useful models that help in
following a planned and scheduled manner of reaching to ones desired goal. As per my

perception, this growth or self-coaching model has really acted as a guide in my course of self-
awareness and development
G-GOAL
In this first step, I have decided on the objective that I want to achieve in the long run.
My objective is to establish myself as a successful manager in one of the big MNCs.
R-REALITY
This stage helps me to identify my current position. As per my perception, this is one of
the most helpful goals as it helps the individuals in understanding about the loopholes that is
present in me and the relevant strategies or measures that I have to adopt in order to overcome
the same. I realized that currently, I am an introvert. I have to work over my communication
skills so that I can easily communicate with all my team members and make myself available for
them at all points of time (Clampitt, 2017). On con tray to this, I realized that I am of an
empathetic nature. Thus even in the current context, I want to take care of all my team members.
However, I have to make sure that I am exercising this trait in real life situation. I have to work
over decision making the skill. Currently, I am of a timid and shy nature. As a result of this, I
often suffer from a lack of confidence to take any timely decisions.
O-OPTIONS
This stage talks about the strategies that I could actually take up. In order to satisfy my
goal, I can take up the following strategies
I have to work on my communication skill.
To ensure that I am strengthening my decision-making skills in order to take a timely
decision without fearing much about the after effects

I have to get over my extraverted nature and my mood swings
W-WILL
This stage talks about the steps that the individuals take up in order to work over their
drawbacks. I step that I will be actually following are-
I will try to develop a daily communication session through the group discussions that
will enable me to overcome my communication issues (Dyck & Lovelace, 2018). I will
be undertaking both personal interview sessions and group discussion sessions so that
there can be a two-way process. This will also be helpful in making my peers know that I
am empathetic and helpful towards them.
I have to work over my level of confidence and strengthen my decision-making skills. In
order to do this, I will have to take regular exercise and yoga classes that will help me to
develop my concentration level and my level of confidence. I will also start taking up
challenges both in my personal and my professional fields in order to make sure that I am
not exhibiting any escapist nature.
Core communication skills for emotional intelligence
Emotional intelligence is one of the most essential qualities of becoming a true leader. As
I aspire to become a successful business manager in the future, I will have to lead many different
teams. In order to act as the supervisor of the teams, I need to make sure that I am working over
my emotional intelligence. As I often suffer from mood swings and anger issues I have to look
into this matter for my future career. Emotional intelligence signifies the ways in which an
individual can control their own emotions during any stressful, difficult or happy situation and
also take care of the emotions of others. As a manager, I have to give emotional and moral

support to my employs. Thus, in order to do that, I have to work over my personal emotional
intelligence. The strategies that I will undertake are as follows-
Active listening
In order to develop a strong emotional intelligence, I have to develop sound listening
skills. In the modern day scenario employee inclusion has become one of the major aspects. In
other words, taking the opinion and decisions of employees in all the business decisions has
become unavoidable. Thus I have to give sufficient time in listening to the ideas, doubts,
opinions, and feedbacks of all the employees. I will have to pause whenever necessary. One
basic rule of active listening is to pause and think. A few seconds or a few minutes of silence is
of utmost importance for hearing and comprehending the message, I will develop a horizontal or
easy flowing two-way communication process.
Building empathy
I will always follow the policy of practicing before preaching. In order to help my team
members, I will have to be empathetic towards them. In order to build empathy, I will have to
support them at all possible steps. For an instance, I will never impose my decisions or opinions
on my employees, I will always take their opinion and try to know if they are happy with the
decision and agree to follow the same. I will always try to understand their issues and provide all
possible support. I will initiate training programs for novice employees so that they can fulfill
their skill gap.
Giving and receiving feedback
I will use the 360 Degree feedback system that will help me to get collective feedback
from all the employees. This method ensures that none of the employees are left out in sharing
Document Page
15DYNAMIC LEADERSHIP
their opinions or their ideas. This will help me in receiving overall feedback from all employees.
I will conduct weekly and monthly meetings with the respective team leaders and the individual
employees as well in order to share my feedback. My feedback sessions will be an open and two-
way session where I will always allow the other part to express their views. I will also use the
nonverbal mediums like emails, personal texting, official group chat applications, and others in
order to share my feedback on a regular basis (Carvill, 2018).
Reflective and reflexive practice
I will maintain a journal for creating reflective journal entries. This will help me to focus
on the good and the bad experiences that are taking place in my self- development
activities.
I will try to take proper feedback sessions from my colleagues in order to know about my
progress.
I will not only try to reflect on past experiences but will also make it a point that the
strategies are implemented in the future.
Conclusion
Thus it can be concluded that self-analysis is a very important process that helps all the
individuals to identify their strengths and areas of weakness. It is through this analysis that they
are capable of understanding the strategies that they have to undertake in order to overcome their
areas of weakness. I have been greatly helped by taking up this assignment as it helped me to
understand the different kinds of leadership strategies and change strategies that I have to
undertake in order to fulfill my goals in the long run. Thus I will be following all these
measurements so that I am successful in reaching my goal within a stipulated time period.
