Leadership Plan 2
Introduction
This report is the personal leadership development plan which is the effective way of individual
learning. The personal leadership plan is helpful in enhancing my characteristics as a leader.
Based on the analysis of my strengths and traits, I can be able to enhance my leadership skills.
Qualities and competencies of good leaders
There are some of the qualities and competencies that must be present in a good leader. Those
skills and competencies are ethical maturities, emotional intelligence, handling team conflict,
honesty and integrity, decision-making capabilities, accountability, empowerment, creativity and
innovation etc. The mentioned competencies and skills are helpful at the workplace in motivating
the employees and achieving goals and objectives in an effective manner (Solomon & Steyn,
2017, para. 3, pp 2).
Type of leader I want to be
I want to be a transformational leader as I have the purpose and passion for transforming others. I
want to enhance my leadership skills and competencies so that I can become a transformational
leader.

Leadership Plan 3
Analysis of strength
At my workplace, I have observed that I have some of the leadership traits which can be helpful
to enhance my career in future. I have the competencies of handling team conflict,
empowerment, honesty and integrity.
In my organization, I have demonstrated the traits during the implementation of new technology.
I empowered other employees for accepting the change so that resistance to change can be
minimized. Honesty and integrity were also shown by me towards the management while
implementing the change related to technology.
In order to become an effective leader, it is crucial for me to adopt some of the effective
strategies. For this, I would learn from senior management to handle team conflicts in an
effective manner. In addition to this, I would set small and measurable goals to enhance my
empowerment skills so that I can become a transformational leader (Swamy &
Nanjundeswaraswamy, 2014, para. 4, pp. 58).
Vision
The vision statement for me is ‘to become an effective leader for influencing and empowering
others by the principle of equality, responsibility and integrity.’
I want to gain significant experience and knowledge for leading people in the organization. This
would be helpful in seeking and gaining various opportunities for others in the organization. By
achieving my set vision, I would be able to enhance my communication ability in authentic

manners to inspire others. In terms of legacy, I want to improve the relationships with others to
understand their requirements and goals (Megheirkouni, 2016, para. 2, pp. 238).
Plan to achieve the vision
Some of the effective actions in the plan would be taken to achieve the vision and become the
kind of leader that I want to be. In this manner, I would gain experience and knowledge related
to leading people and various projects. I would also enhance my communication skills and
ability by following an exercise schedule.
Conclusion
Based on the discussion, it is clear that leadership skills and competencies are required for
leading people and achieving goals and objectives. I need to enhance my empowerment and
conflict management skill to become an effective leader.
