Executive Summary
Team leader is a person who plays a vital role in managing a firm. Team leader is those who
fulfil the purpose of organization. The features of team leader are determined as the traits and
skills which are used by them for performing the organizational activities. Leaders include the
unique characteristics which make them different from others. An effective leader stays for long
term than the other people in the organization. It is amplified that the leadership is determined by
the feature of an individual which is used to lead team members for performing the activities and
tasks. Leaders support the team members in meeting the aim and targets. The leader of team is
imperative for long term, therefore, a leader confronted by a much-complicated leadership issue.
Currently, I am working in communication department wherein I comprehend many things.
Further, I lead 9 members in my team as it is very interesting for me to meet the organizational
task. This reflective represents my characteristics as a leader. This reflective report presented my
personality features as well as leadership skills. In this, I used a 360-degree feedback method for
evaluating my characteristics and making effective decisions. This study is effective in
evaluating own weakness and strengths that could be imperative for becoming a successful
leader. In last, it discusses the action plan for improving my weakness that could be essential for
leadership skills. It will support in meeting the purpose of the research issue.

Reflection
Leadership is the method which is used to examine the ability of a person for directing
team and performing the organizational task (Koryak, Mole, Lockett, Hayton, Ucbasaran, &
Hodgkinson, 2015). I got many opportunities in my life for performing the role of leader which
positively impacted my career. It also aided in reshaping my behavior and it was great
opportunity for me to get a favorable result in developing leadership skills. It is illustrated that
leadership skills are helpful to me in order to deal with different cultures of people. It is
evaluated that the team leader must be accountable for managing all issues which are confronted
by the team members at the time of conducting the team acts for completing the particular task
(Breevaart, Bakker, Demerouti, &Derks, 2016). As a team leader, I was accountable for
comprehending the behavior of others and reflected suitable behavior for handling the situation.
It is also observed that the team leader of the firm gets positive result in the favor of the
organization by taking suitable action at the workplace (Smith, Lewis, &Tushman, 2016).
I developed trust in people who were working with me in team by completing the task in
a systematic manner. It also aided to make higher competitive advantages. Recently, I worked as
a team leader in a retail organization with a team of 9 members. However, after leading team
members from the last 10 months, I observed many things which include the different issues that
are related to organizational tasks. The effective leadership qualities are required in leaders from
competing the organizational task effectively and efficiently (Pearce &Wassenaar, 2014). My
journey as leader was quite complicated as I had faced various kinds of issues which I had faced
while completing the organizational activities.
Initially, I had focused on giving the weekly target goal to my group members but after
spending some time, I realized that most of the members completed their specified task but they

worked under pressure and took the work as stress. I had analyzed that remaining team members
were also capable to do the work but because of less time, they were unable to meet their
targeted goal with quality.
After considering this as serious issue I had decided to give target to my teammates for
15 days. I also decided to give target to team members on the basis of their capability and efforts
for completing the work without any stress. It is necessary to complete the organizational task
effectively. I had adopted the 360-degree feedback method which helped me in understanding
the team members and their performance. It was imperative in declining my weakness in less
time. It will also help me become a successful leader in future. For operating the business
activities, I practiced the open communication tool in which an individual is able to freely
discuss their concern and reach a reliable conclusion. It will also aid in a declining conflict in the
workplace. It would also be effective for meeting the organizational task (Lloyd, Clegg, &
Crouch, 2015). Influencing and inspiring are often related to power. In leadership, it is essential
for the leader to comprehend such factors an consider it for influencing and encouraging others
towards any act. Moreover, the influencing factor is essential for an individual to change belief,
behavior, and attitudes of others. It would be essential for getting positive response towards the
meeting of the organizational goal. It could be intangible force in organizational relations. It
could be measured directly but could be assumed and inferred. It is components that support to
create the enthusiasm as well as energy to take specific action course. Moreover, it is evaluated
that the team leader would be able to attract huge number of followers.

Gallup’s strength finder
The Gallup’s strength finder tool is used for examining favorable as well as unfavorable
aspect which is vital for me to effectively conduct the leadership in the team. This plan could
help in critically evaluating the characteristics of leader which will be imperative for influencing
the huge number of people towards the matter. It can be supported to make an effective
leadership plan towards the organizational purpose. From the implementation of this tool, I
improved my skills which are essential for communicating with employees (Western,
2019). Moreover, it is evaluated that the key purpose of this tool is used to conduct open
communication and making a unique conclusion towards the purpose that will help in the future
(Jackson, 2018). I had analyzed that effective communication will always help me in building
effective relationships with others. This technique helps in making effective decisions in any
situation.
Another strength that I realized from this tool is being restorative which is vital for
employee retention. This ability is helpful in making a favorable solution with respect to every
problem (Schoemaker, Heaton, & Teece, 2018). I always conduct open communication with my
teammates and encourage them to improve their efficiency.
Leadership development plan
Leadership is vital to provide a significant opportunity in order to determine abilities,
drawbacks, and strengths with respect to leadership skills. It can be imperative for meeting the
short term and long term goals in life. I used the Whittman GROW model for improving the
weaknesses.
Goal setting (G):

In the beginning, I identified a short team goal that supports in conducting the team
activities in one direction. It also helps in enabling to make a reliable conclusion in the context of
the current matter (Kostovski, Bojadjiev, & Buldioska, 2015). In the next 9 months, out-group
will be working on one purpose which I have made on the basis of different areas. I tried to
improve the performance of people in less time and cost.
It will help in completing the organizational tasks and activities on time with minimum
cost. It will also be accountable for improving the efficiency in team members. Team member is
accountable for making the customer relation, promotions, as well as public relations with
respect to the particular products as well as services (Tepper, Dimotakis, Lambert, Koopman,
Matta, Man Park, & Goo, 2018).
Reality (R):
In order to meet the purpose of the study, I am able to lead the team of 9 members. I
would be able to take reliable decisions in the context of issues which are faced by team
members. I observed that the communication section is effective for each group which will allow
developing the conflict at the workplace and it will directly affect the overall result.
Therefore, I was responsible to inform each member about its purpose as well as enhance
the probability of obtaining higher competitive advantages. It is examined that my teammates
were able to accomplish their target from last week because of implementing an effective plan
for improving workforce capability. My tutors and group mates had always taught me lesson for
developing leadership skills. It will also be imperative in getting a positive result.

The key purpose of this state is to find out the issue that is confronted by the leader in an
organization to promote leadership roles at the workplace (Lopez-Cabrales, Bornay-Barrachina,
& Diaz-Fernandez, 2017). A person who is hired in the company could have some skills,
therefore, I regularly concentrated on its performance for improving firm productivity (Drescher,
Korsgaard, Welpe, Picot, & Wigand, 2014). It will help me in improving organizational
performance. Further, communication skills are also required in leaders and I had always
concentrated on each team member of firm which helped me in eliminating the misunderstanding
in teammates.
I always try to communicate with each teammate regarding their allocated work and try
to resolve the team member's clarity issues at the workplace. It will be imperative to get feasible

It is evaluated that my leadership styles are imperative in creating effective decision towards the
organizational purpose (Leih&Teece, 2016).
The way forward (W)
This step of the GROW strategy is used for enhancing leadership skills. This stage helps
in identifying the tools which are used to solve specific issues. It is examined that the company
could assure the group that it requisite to ensure the best tools (Allison & Goethals, 2014).
According to recent performance, it is examined that my teammates are capable to meet 150% of
target. It is illustrated that a successful team leader helps in growing the team effectively. It is
analysed that the company can provide the effective opportunity to different section for
improving the skills (Pranesh, Palanichamy, Saidat, & Peter, 2017).

I feel responsible for the performance of my teammates as well as I would try to be best
player in the workplace. I practiced diverse sources named offline as well online sources for
enhancing my personal skills. It is examined that I can attend many workshops that are
associated with the leadership for leading a large number of people as well as completing the
organizational task. I would be able to manage the conflict from the working place (Sotarauta,
2016).
It is examined that diverse workshops will direct me in enhancing my skills as well as
abilities. Due to the higher competition level, I was worried to meet the company task on time
and perform well (Peters-Hawkins, Reed, & Kingsberry, 2018). I also founded that leaders could
be confronted by many issues that affect the overall performance of the organization. In
improving team performance, I had increased the ability of each employee to make effective
conclusions in the context of current matter. I get different feedback from my tutor as well as
associates in enhancing my performance that is effective after getting feedback from senior’s.
Apart from this, I conducted many acts in the company such as developing a culture of
transparency, openness of conversation, inspire my teammates to reliably starving my team
performance, and make each section boundaries. I read many books and articles for improving
my weakness which provides opportunities to me for being a successful leader in the future. I
practiced 2 years of time to improve my emotional intelligence as well as thought procedure. It
will be beneficial if I attend leadership workshops as well as trait tool. It will be vital in
obtaining higher competitive advantages in minimum time and cost. It will help in becoming a
successful leader in future (Australian Public Services Commission, 2014). I practiced the
Whittman GROW model which will aid me in enhancing my skills effectively in a particular
time period.

As per the above discussion, it can be concluded that leadership is a tool that provides a
path to a leader in accomplishing the particular aim as well as objectives in a significant way. It
can be illustrated that leadership ability could lead, control, and guide the team member at the
workplace. It will also support in completing the organizational task on time. With respect to the
above discussion, it can be summarized that skill of leadership is determined as personality that
could be imperative in getting higher competitive advantages. It can be concluded that successful
leaders have some unique responsibilities that supported for team growth. This course supports
to evaluate my weaknesses and enables me to take favorable decisions in the context of
organizational success. It can be concluded that the team leader is responsible for directing the
team member and encouraging their teammates for meeting their purpose in an effective manner.
