Introduction
Leadership can be understood as the ability of an individual to influence and guide
others. Leadership plays a vital role in life of an individual as it helps them to manage the
working of team in effective manner (Daniëls, Hondeghem and Dochy, 2019). Good leader
helps the organisation to achieve their goals and objectives in right time and gain competitive
advantage. This report has discussion related to own self-analysis as a leader. The use of self-
assessments is done to know about the progress and knowing the most suitable leadership
style. The use of traditional and contemporary theories of leadership is also part of this report.
Afterwards, leadership development plan is made to enhance the skills and knowledge that
are required. The vision, goals of leadership are important part of action plan and will help to
develop the leader.
PART A: Leadership self-analysis
I have analysed that having leadership skills is important in today’s time to carry on
both personal and professional work. I am able to understand that leader helps to manage the
work in team and motivate the team members to work in efficient manner. I have carried
various self-assessment that assist me to know better about my own skills and knowledge.
There is key role of having ability to understand own skills and knowledge as they are
required to manage the working and enhance the skills (Cortellazzo, Bruni and Zampieri,
2019).
From the module I have understood that leader must have ability to guide others and
gain their trust. This is necessary to provide best to the team members so that the objectives
are attained in proper manner. There is different type of leaders such as autocratic,
democratic, participative, laissez faire who have ability to deal in their own ways (Rudolph,
Murphy, and Zacher, 2020). Each and every individual have their own strengths and
weakness that assists them to carry on the work. Before identifying own skills and
capabilities one must know and understand the leadership style along with their pros and
cons.
The results of self-assessment were helpful for me to enhance my awareness about
self. It is required to know better about own self and then use the skills in different situations.
There are different questionnaires that were provided. In path goal analysis, I am able to

understand that there is key role of leader in motivating the team members. I have capability
of providing satisfaction to the employees of the company by providing the effective
guidance. I understand the shortcomings of the employees working and then provide them
effective aid to manage their working. But I face obstacles at the time of working as path goal
leader and unable to understand the employees who do not share their views.
I am able to understand that there is different situation that place while working in an
organisation. Situational leader is one who has capability to work as per the situation and
guide the individuals. I have the capability to first of all analyse the project or problematic
situation that take place. Afterwards, I work to gather all the employees and tell them about
what they have to do. I also discuss the ideas that will help me and my team members to carry
on the work on the specific project. The ideas given by me are followed by the team members
and the goals can be attained (Gandolfi and Stone, 2018). I also participate in the work that
they do and check if everything is going in right direction. All the work is delegated to the
members who have capability of doing the same. I am able to analyse the skills and
capabilities of all the individuals and then delegate the work to right person so that better
results are attained.
Then the next questionnaire has evaluation regarding the adaptive leadership style.
There are various complex situations that take place at the time of working in organisation. I
have evaluated that the leader must have skills and capabilities to manage the situation. I
always work to know the conflict and identify the real reason behind the same. There is
situation when, I am unable to deal and manage the work. I am not able to take decision in
the uncertain situation and this also enhanced problems for me. I lack confidence and that is
the reason I am not able to overcome the conflict situation. Here I understand that I need to
work on my decision making skills so that I can solve the problems and manage the working
of organisation.
I have analysed that servant leadership style is one in which the leader interacts with
others such as management, employees to achieve authority rather than power on them. It is
seen that; such leader has freedom to take all the decisions by their own. There is need of
managing the work in such a manner that all the employees are in beneficial situation (Al
Khajeh, 2018). Career goals of all the individuals must be fixed so that they are able to
achieve them. I am bad at this leadership style and not able to work as per the theory.

In the contemporary world, there is key role of having proper working situation for
the team members. The Authentic Leadership is a theory that is still forming. In this theory
the leaders seem to be genuine and real. There is key role of having such a person as leader
who is able to relate and deal with the situation. I believe that interacting with the team
members is necessary for having good relations with them. The communication helps to
understand their problems and the ways of solving them as well. It becomes necessary to
become a genuine leader so that the team members are able to trust me and share all the
problems (Leithwood, Harris and Hopkins, 2020). I also involve them in solving the
problems so that best solutions can be taken out. It is also analysed that there is need of
having proper environment around leader. Being a leader, I assure that all the people around
me feel good. I give attention to all the team members and provide them good working
conditions.
It is being evaluated that the behaviour of leader plays a major role. It is necessary to
understand the followers and motivate them so that they are able to able to achieve the
assigned goals and objectives. Being a leader I work at such a position where all the members
respect me and are ready to interact with me. I have analysed that I am a democratic leader
and I prefer this leadership style the most. After checking the questionnaire and self-
evaluation techniques, I am able to understand that the team members must have decision
making power. By including them in all the important decisions of the business they are
motivated and achieve goals and objectives in effective manner (Hartley, 2018). This style
helps me to work in every situation with the help of my team members. In today’s time the
employees of the organisation require support and guidance of leader and at the same time,
they require their own position. I believe in regularly valuing the hard work being done by
the followers. For example, at the time of launching new product I was leader of marketing
team. I used brain storming technique to take idea from all the team members. I involved all
of them in decision making that helped to launch the best product with combination of ideas.
The contemporary leadership is to influence others and make difference in the performance
(By, 2021). I regularly interact with the members of the team so that I am able to know about
their strengths and weakness and provide them best as per their requirements. I do not impose
any rules and regulations on the members of the team just assign work and the ways of
competing the same within right time. There is diversity of employees in a business and I
have ability to make them work inclusively.

Leadership action plan is the document that helps to enhance the skills and knowledge of the leader.
Each and every individual requires development and action plan helps to attain the same. There is key role
of knowing strengths and knowledge as they will help to take suitable actions to enhance them (Oberer and
Erkollar, 2018). It is necessary in today’s time to have a good leader who provides best suitable advice to
team members so that they are able to carry on the work in effective manner. The includes vision that
motives the leader to work in particular direction. It becomes necessary to know the best suitable goals that
will help to attain vision and success of the company.
Leadership vision [why]
I work collaboratively with team and achieve the goals and objectives of the organisation. I will build
good relation with the team members and motivate them to work at their full potential.
Detailed action plan [how]
Leadership goal #1: To increase the level of communication in the business organisation.
In order to achieve the organisational goals and objectives there is key role of having effective
communication. It helps to communicate the vision and goals to team members so that they are able to
attain all the activities effectively (Cheong and Et. Al., 2019). This contributes to attain objectives of the
business organisation by letting everyone work. This is necessary to motivate the employees and their
level of working in positive manner. Communication helps the leader to understand the problems of the
employees and provide possible solution to manage their working. In order to enhance the level of
communication in the organisation the following actions will be taken:
Daily morning meetings before starting the work.
One informal meeting at the end having discussion regarding work of whole day
Weekly meetings to know the problems in any faced by the team members

Resistance of employees Explaining the employees about benefit of regular communication and
managing the work by communication. It becomes important to involve all the
employees and communicate with them so that they are also able to get
solution of their potential problems.
Lack of time If there will be two meetings in a day than this will cause the problem of lack
of time. There are some employees who have problem of slow working and
they will not be able to complete the work (Eva and Et. Al., 2019). But in the
morning the meeting will help them to manage their work in overall day.

Communication skills I am good at communication skills and this helps me to build relations with the
employees of the company. This also assist me to manage the working in
collaborative manner and solve the query of team members.
Time management skills A leader must have ability to manage the work assigned to their team. It helps
me to carry on the assigned projects on right time and help other to carry on
the work in right time.
Leadership goal #2: To motivate the team member and bring best out of them
Motivating team members help in their progress level and contribute to success. This helps to enhance the
productivity level of the team members and let the achieve success (Fernandez and Shaw, 2020). The
creativity level of the team members gets enhanced when they are provided effective working conditions.
It helps to bring best out of the employees and encourage them to work. The following actions will be
taken:
The progress level of employees will be monitored
The recognition for good performance will be given in front of team
The monetary rewards will be given to the hard working employees

Lack of trust There are some employees who do not trust the leader. This causes
dissatisfaction among them and they are unable to carry on the work that is
being assigned to them. There is need of providing them personal attention so
that they are able to trust others and the leader. There is key role of providing
them rewards and recognition for their performance as this will help to build
trust.
Lack of resources It is another barrier that stops providing rewards to the employees. The
employees of the company must be given rewards and recognition that they
deserve. The company must make arrangement of the resources that are
necessary for motivating the hard working employees and carrying the work I
effective manner.

Creative I am creative person and this helps me to get best ideas to motivate the team
members. There is key role of using creativity in order to provide best to the
employees that will keep the motivated and will help to attain the objectives.
Critical thinking skills This helps me to understand the situation that is going on in the mind of the
employees (Yunarsih and Et. Al., 2020). There is need of identifying the
factors that will motivate the team mates to manage their working in effective
manner. There is need of carrying the work by taking them together and letting

Leadership goal #3: To adapt change and bring innovation in effective manner.
Leader helps to manage the working of the organisation and there are various changes that place in the
business. The leader must have capability to manage the change that takes place. The leader must help the
employees of the company to carry on research and identify the best ideas that will bring innovation. The
regular changes in the environment requires the need of best innovative idea that will make the business
organisation successful (Moldoveanu and Narayandas, 2019). To adopt changes, the leader must be
innovative and must have ability to bear all the challenges that come in path. The following actions will
help to bring changes and innovation in effective manner:
Carry regular research related to internal and external changes that takes place
Motivate the employees to understand the change by using models
To bring innovation and latest technology in company for their growth and success.

environment
The business environment is huge and complex in nature. It becomes difficult
to carry on research and identify the overall changes. The leader can monitor
the changes that take place in the particular industry and the one adopted by
the competitors. This helps to know about the changes that place in the

Resistance of employees The employees are resistant to change and this causes problem for them to
carry on the changes in operations (Kerrissey and Edmondson, 2020). It is
necessary to use Lewin change management model that will help to bring
change in the organisation effectively. It will help to help them work in most
efficient manner.

Research skills I have good research skills that help me to know about the changes in the
business environment. This also helps to manage the work and know about all
the changes that are required in the company.
Inspiring skills The inspiration and guiding skills are necessary for the leader of team. It helps
to guide the team members regarding the changes required to manage the
work. This skill helps me to explain the employees the need of change and
make efforts to let them work in most suitable manner.
Strategic thinking It helps me to formulate best strategy that will help to bring change in the
organisation effectively. It is necessary to come out of complex situation and
bring best solutions for the work assigned to the employees. There is key role

From the above report, it has been analysed that there is key role of leader in working of an
organisation. The leader must have influencing personality and ability to deal with every situation. There are
regular changes that takes place in the organisation and the leader must maintain good working condition
and help the employees to work in every situation. The self-evaluation is necessary to know about self and
analyse the best leadership style. The score helps to know about own self in effective manner. Along with
that, the leadership development plan is formulated in this report that helps to enhance the skills that are
lacking and to achieve the goals in more suitable manner. The actions that will help to achieve the particular
goal are mentioned. The leader requires some skills that facilitate them to in carrying their work and they are
also mentioned in the report.
