Explain why emotional intelligence is crucial for effective leadership
Leaders with an attribute of high emotional intelligence prove to be effective in their
leadership style because it helps them to assess the emotional state of the employees and
guide them accordingly to accomplish their work effectively. Apart from professional skills,
if the leaders are able to understand and perceive the emotional state of their employees, it
will help both the parties to connect each other on a personal level. This will help the both of
them to validate each other’s’ work and enhance collaboration for teamwork (Singh & Aditi,
2019). Emotional Intelligence leads to other attributes like support, belief, faith towards each
other and curb down frustration, anger and disappointment in work sphere thus resulting in
optimum production. Hence, emotional intelligence help the leaders to implement effective
leadership in an organization.

A leader with high-degree of self-awareness can attain a perception of his own self as
well as others. Thus, if a leader is aware of the capabilities of his team, he can allocate
responsibilities accordingly and be confident about his job (Dabke, 2016). There will hardly
be any chances of miscommunication. Even during unfavourable situations, he can keep
himself calm and composed. A leader with high self-awareness attribute will be able to
understand the strengths and weaknesses of his employees and can influence them through
their progress.
For instance, Barrack Obama was self-aware of his flaws and admitted them in public
platforms after the elections. He considered that his inability to communicate with the people
might have led to his failure in the elections and had the guts to admit it publicly. He was also
