The research philosophy
There are four main types of research philosophy comprises of positivism, realism,
interpretivism and pragmatism from which selection of one is made on the basis of study and
nature of investigation. With respect to current investigation based on analysing the role of
2

leadership in enhancing the performance of employees, application of positivism philosophy is
seemed most suitable and appropriate as it facilitates a more systematic and practical form of
research method by the way of leading objective nature of study to have more specific results (Li
and et. al., 2018).
Research approach
Deductive and inductive are the two main sets of research approach which are used by a
researcher out of which deductive is applied with positivism form of philosophy whereas
inductive is utilised with interpretivism form of philosophy. With respect to current
investigation, utilisation of deductive approach would be made as it leads to better support and
align with positivism form of philosophy. Further, the justification for use of deductive approach
is also based on the reason that it lead to better scanning and testing of numeric form of data to
have more specific set of results.
The Research design
This section of research methodology provides an information about the overall strategy
that is chosen by a research to integrate all different aspects and components of a study. Mainly
there are four common set of research design consists of Descriptive, Correlational, Causal-
Comparative/Quasi-Experimental, and Experimental Research from which utilisation of
descriptive research would have been made for current investigation as it lead to a more accurate
and systematically description of research phenomenon and objective to have more effective
study (Luu, 2019).
Choices of research method
The quantitative and qualitative are two main forms and types of research method out of
which one is opted by a researcher as per the nature of study out of which use of quantitative
method support objective form of investigation where as qualitative leads to a more theoretical
and in-depth form of study. With respect to current investigation, utilisation of quantitative
method of research is proposed as it is more suitable and justifiable to undertake and conduct
current investigation in a more efficient and effective way. The justification for use of
quantitative method of research for current study is based on the fact that it leads to easy and fact
collection of data in numeric or statistical form that is easy to present and analysis with the help
of statistical table and pie charts (Uen and et. al., 2018). Apart from this, objective form of

seemed most suitable and appropriate as it facilitates a more systematic and practical form of
research method by the way of leading objective nature of study to have more specific results (Li

3

investigation also supports and leads out to a more specific and measurable form of results to
effectively met the set research objectives.
Research Strategy and time frame
Research strategy basically aim at providing an overall plan that would be applied by a
researcher for conducting a study comprises of planning, executing, and monitoring the study.
The main types and form of research strategy consists of action research, experimental research,
interviews, surveys and the case study out of which selection of survey strategy of research is
utilised for current investigation. Use of survey strategy is justifiable as it ensures better research
planning and also leads to effective collection of data from a larger number of participants with
the help of questionnaire.
Data Collection and Data Analysis Techniques
There are two main sources of data collection comprises of primary and secondary sources
of data collection out of which use of both primary and secondary sources of data collection is
being applied and used for current study. The reason and justification behind making use of
primary sources of data collection is based on the fact it provides most authentic and fisrt hand
data that is free from obsolesce (Yam, Raybould and Gordon, 2018). Further, justification behind
gathering secondary data is based on the fact that it facilitates base for investigation with the help
of past records and figure that ensures better framework for effective study.
Analysis of primary data collected with questionnaire would be made through making use
of pie charts and frequency table which ensures systematic presentation of collected raw facts.
Beside this, analysis of secondary data would have been made with the help systematic literature
review that ensures better analysis of information gathered from online articles and journals.
Sample Selection
Through making use of random mode of sampling, selection of 40 participants would be
made from the employees of Conrad London St. James Hotel.
Ethical Consideration
Access to the collected data is only provided to the researcher and tutor to maintain the
authenticity of work. Further, ethical issues related with maintaining the privacy and authenticity
of collected data would also be made. To meet the set ethical consideration, application of BERA
code of ethics would be made along with taking a prior consent and approval from all selected

Resources
The various forms of resources are used and applied for undertaking current investigation
which consist of financial resources, human resources along with sort of technical and statistical
resources. Financial resources are used to meet the overall cost and expenses of current research
which would be near around of 300 £ comprises of cost of transportation, data collection cost
and other analysis related with current study. Human resources is required as research
participants and team members for efficient data collection and performing the various tasks and
activities. Beside this, technical resources like computer, internet, etc. are also needed for storage
and collection of data along with statistical tool like pie carts and frequency table for better
analysis and presentation of data which makes it more feasible and viable study.
