Professionalism
Effective leadership practices focus on various implications of the framework containing
certain central issues in the managerial practice and include professionalism, and ethics among
others (Bolman, & Deal, 2017). As such, it is important for any leader in the managerial position
to adopt a comprehensive system that guarantees the success of the organization while
maintaining professionalism. Being a manager of a corporation that has more than 100
employees is stressful, and entails a lot of grit from an individual. Professionalism in the
management of the workers is an even bigger problem, and if done incorrectly, it may ruin the
reputation of the organization. The Human Resource program on the Management of
Employees, however, came in handy and I was able to discover some of the central aspects of
governing my personnel.
Ensuring professionalism from employees and the management in Walmart ensured that
all processes and decisions were formally executed. My company works with an equivalent of
150 workers, all of whom have been allocated different departments. I have always ensured that
we achieve the best number of sales, compared to other departments dealing with the same
products. This has not been an easy task and required me to often make several changes in the
organization to ensure the effectiveness of our company’s goal (Argyris, 2017).
Ethics
Ethics are important for the success of any company. Employees and end employers
should be in a position to observe ethics irrespective of their positions. I noted that some
employees compromised their ethics for monetary value. Some employees during discount
offers in Walmart would invite their friends to benefit from certain coupons from the business.
My ethical standing in this situation was that all clients should be different equally during both
sales and discounts. As many employees often focus on their personal time horizons that meets

their needs in salaries, fair treatment, and wages among others, which makes it difficult for
managers to draw a connection between these factors and the company’s goals while still
maintaining the loyalty of the employees (Shahid, & Azar, 2013). My major revelation during the
HR summit was on handling cases that involved unethical behavior. Working in an enterprise of
more than 100 workers was hectic, and employees came with different ethical orientations.
Many of the times, the employees did not agree with each other’s decision which resulted in
bullying and harassment. I was always involved to deliberate on such ethical issues, that slowed
down our momentum. I was able to establish one major significant way of ensuring that these
behaviors do not affect the business output. I ensured that the boundaries of each of the
employees were respected. I made sure that I gave articulate decisions about specific matters
(Rahim, 2017).
The HR program on the management of employees played a significant role in my
overall management skills. Four weeks into the new system has seen our sales go slightly
higher than before, motivation levels from the employee have also significantly increased and
things are definitely moving in the right direction.
