How to grow leaders
Leaders are the people those who are responsible for leading staff members in order to
manage business operations. Principles of leadership development as explained as below:
Training for leadership is the first principle that states that company needs to give
training to raise leadership skill of person so that individual can grow as leader.
Selection is second principle that describes that Hr needs to select right person on that
post those who have required quality (How to Grow Leaders: The Seven Key Principles
of Effective Leadership Development, 2006)
Principle third is line managers have to work as leadership mentors, if leaders are getting
mentorship then it would be better in developing leadership skill in person.
Fourth principle is chance to lead that means if individual is getting chance to lead few
people then it will develop confidence and in near future person will become able to lead
a big team successfully.
5th principle is education for leadership, if person is getting education on skills, work of
leaders then it will grow them as leaders.
6th principle is strategy for leadership development
Chief executive is seventh principle
Leadership management
Leadership is the skill of person where individual takes responsibility of team members
and by leading them manage their work. Management is the person’s capability to manage all
work and employees. Leadership management is the combine activity where person ensure that
all employees manage their work properly and leaders give them guidance.
Team working is very important in nursing practice, as it helps the nurses in knowing their
duties and treating patients well. Team working is beneficial in sharing ideas and finding
potential solution of each issue. By this way workload in hospital can be managed and patients
can get amazing care experiences.
Organisation culture
Culture can be defined as belief of company, culture affects the employee and
organisational performance to great extent. If leaders are able to lead team well then it will help
in creating healthy workplace culture (Teamwork and the patient care experience, 2017).

Leaders always try to build strong connection between with other members so that patients
details can be circulated properly and other nurse can provide treatment accordingly. Routinely
collaboration and healthy culture encourage them and retain in hospitals by this way they serve
care users well (Organisation culture and leadership, 2018).
Leadership in health care
Health care sector works to deliver safe and effective care services to patients (The
Concept of Leadership in the Health Care Sector, 2020). Leadership is helpful in making
necessary changes in health system so that patients’ issue can be resolved quickly by medical
professionals and health care condition of person can be improved. Leaders work to manage
clinical workforce and give them training so that they understand needs of patients and ensure to
provide proper treatment to them (Leadership, Management and Team Working in Nursing,
2018).
Gender issues in leadership
Leadership is highly affected by gender differences, many companies do not promote female
candidates at leadership positon they think that women are unable to manage work because they
have to manage their home as well hence they can not pay close attention on their work. Male
leaders get more pay as compare to female that is the big issue in leadership.
