Introduction:
The report focuses on the leadership strategies and group dynamics decisions those
were taken during the simulation game. There was a group of three members in our group.
The simulation game was based on different types of cars and the members have to invest in
it depending of the characteristics of the cars. The idea is to manage the investment in each
car keeping in mind the elements resulting in competition among the other cars. The entire
group dynamics and group narrative will be discussed in this report focusing on the first
phase of the team strategies followed by the post-merger strategies.
Analysis of leadership and group dynamics of the team:
In the view point of Davis (2016), one of the critical components behind the success
of a business is the understanding of the group dynamics. The aim of the group dynamics is
to work towards a common goal and achieve the performance effectively. Adding to this fact,
Klonek et al., (2016) commented that poor group dynamics can lead to a negative outcome of
the common goal and can adversely affect the performance of the team. As mentioned before,
there were three members in the group and as a result, there was no opportunity of making a
single person as a leader. Each of the members had equal rights to state their opinion in any
matter. This at times led to chaotic situation when the members could not agree with the view
point of a member. This in large affected the overall decision making and performance as a
team. It should be noted that there are many variables that add to the performance of the
group dynamics and one of which is strong leadership. A leader in a group has the audacity to
come down to a particular decision that the other members have to abide. This is why a leader
should have a positive attitude towards the team and should be focused on what to be
achieved as a group.

Analysis of the first phase strategies:
The aim behind the manufacturing of the different types of cars is to make these cars
available for people belonging to different socio-economic strata. There were low cost cars
for the customers looking for the cars in a low budget. Reading Platow et al., (2015), about
the pricing strategy of a product in a competitive market, it has been known that pricing
strategy depends on the demand of the product. After carrying out the market analysis, it was
found that people are interested in buying cars to travel from one place to another be it of a
shorter distance or a longer. Thus, the low cost cars would be ideal for this segment of
people. The other form of cars that could be of great demand was the family cars that would
be a bit more spacious than the other types of cars along with significant level of comfort and
safety. Therefore, our next category of cars was designed for the target group who wants to
buy a family car. Moreover, it has been clearly identified after the market analysis that the
competition of this category of cars is higher than the other types. Therefore, not only the
pricing strategy would have helped in attracting customers. Suggestively, other strategies like
better features and automation control were included in the design of the car as a part of
competitive strategy (Hinterhuber & Liozu, 2019). Mentioning the group dynamic in this
situation, it has been noted that all the three members were equally involved in the decision
making criteria and designing the cars in a particular way.
Analysis of the post-merger strategies:
The post-merger strategy was to decide on the market where the cars are to be
launched. As per the group dynamics and decision making ideas, it was decided that there
would be two regions, one would be based on the demand of the cars where the cars would be
sold basis its features and the need of the people. On the other hand, the other region where
the cars would be sold was focused on the low budget customers. In this market, it was
important to explain the customers as to why they should be investigating in this type of cars.

As pointed out by, Nawaz and Khan (2016) it is most difficult to convince the people with
low budget because they are the ones who would justify their purchase in all the possible
ways. Convincing this group of people is difficult and thus, the marketing and advertisements
should be framed in a way to show the real performance of the cars and justifying the amount
of money spent on it (Suarez et al., 2018). The members in the team were very cautious about
the investment criteria and on how the sales of cars would be increased. It was decided that
the only way on attracting and convincing the target group of people is by showing the
features of the cars in a way that would be highly justified to the purchasing segment.
Therefore, the marketing of the cars differed from one region to the other. The strength and
features of the cars were to be highlighted in a significant way.
Conclusion:
The above report discussed the group dynamics and leadership of the simulation game
that was designed basis the manufacturing and selling of different cars. An analysis of the
leadership approach has been carried out and it has been clearly evident that working as a
group is definitely helpful as it gives a wide horizon of ideas and thoughts to be worked upon.
Manufacturing and selling a car is never an easy job and deciding on the target group of
people was the toughest among all the criteria. There were a number of internal issues as well
like communication or abiding the decision of another member; however, the entire
simulation game was sorted successfully.
