INTRODUCTION
Leadership means team and individuals make them ability, motivate plus enables to
others in contributing organizational. Management consists of controlling group or set up goals
and objective for company. In improving quality of healthcare they need to set up goals, include
human factors while also have best communicating progress (Pamungkas, 2020). This report
states importance of political power for nurses at healthcare society, they also have some basic
knowledge about internal and external factor which might be more affected them. Politically
issues can also changes work styles in different countries along with their wages or salary which
depends on their profession skills. Nurses can be advocated of their patients in fighting against
any political issues. They also improve patients treatments while giving the best medicals and
cashless might be provided for them. Report more evaluate the Leadership skills are most
important for helping their team members and making them more effective towards work.
Leadership management always practices for their best in giving different levels of training to
their members. Furthermore, this report also explain about transitioning of students nurses
process which is most necessary for them and for that they required various training and
development for being registered healthcare. It is to difficult in this society as they need to
manage more work, having more proper skills and well knowledge about nursing in each field
that are to be acquired for their patients treatments.
Importance of political awareness for nurses and how nurses' roles can influence policy in
relation to healthcare delivery
In healthcare sector, nurses play a vital role in accomplishing goals and improving overall
health of people. For performing functions in an effective manner it is important for them of
having knowledge of both internal and external factors. One of the main factors among all
external factors include: political. It consists of political stability of the country, policies made by
them and others. By having knowledge of policies and political awareness, nurses can make
several changes and can perform their functions more effectively. One of the main reasons of
having knowledge about all policies and political awareness for nurses is because their decision
affect communities, workplace and patients so, it is important for them to take better decisions
by considering all factors. Other main reasons of becoming aware about political factors for
nurses is advocacy (Malila, Lunkka and Suhonen, 2018). Advocacy or public support is the main
Document Page
responsibilities of nurses because it leads to social justice of nursing profession and by doing, so
they can help in protecting healthcare access for vulnerable people. There are some main reasons
that shows that why nurses require becoming political aware such as:
It can change their work: Political factors can affect ways of performing functions and all roles
that nurses play because they have great impacts on the society and all policies made or
developed by political party also affect society as the whole. Political decisions as well as laws
can also impact on the care that nurses provide to people.
They can represent the interest of nursing profession: There are several situations occur in
which political decision and policies affect nurses work to the great extent. Some examples of
this includes: wage freeze, healthcare cutbacks, working without an effective contract, lack of
hospital funding, strikes and others (Groenwald and Eldridge, 2020). All these actions and
factors affect people and community to the great extent. It happens all because of changes in
policies and other factors of politics like wages changes, working hours changes and others
(http://injectableorange.com/2015/10/why-nurses-need-to-be-politically-active/). So, it is
important for nurses of having knowledge about all changes happen in this factor for taking
better actions, decision and without hurting patients' health continuing their work. It also helps
them out in taking voting decision because whom they elect plays a vital role in making budget
or taking budgeting decisions. So, political awareness can help them out in taking appropriate
decision and voting to the person who can support nurses in the context of their job security,
patients health and adequate funding for health. So, overall it can be said that this political
awareness and political activities give nurses opportunities to represent their professional values.
They can advocate for their patients: It is already stated that one of the main reasons for
nurses of become politically active is advocacy. It is responsibility of nurses of providing fair
and effective treatment to all of their patients in clinical setting and it is their profession. When
nurses vote then they have to sign petition by participating in political event and by doing so and
supporting political party, nurses can support thousands of patients effectively. There are several
social determinates that also get affected from political decisions (Pamungkas, 2020). For
examples: one political decision and policy by political party for refugee was: funding was cut to
refugee healthcare program and it can affect vulnerable population to the great extent. So, it can
be said that it can improve their healthcare system and performance.

Roles of nurses in influencing policy: Nurses play a vital role and some of their roles influence
healthcare policy in critical manner to the great extent. They can help in developing public policy
with advocacy. There are some associated groups in healthcare sector such as: Association of
public health nurses that encourage roles of nurses to advocate for healthcare policies as well as
providing appropriate resources for completing functions and performing roles.
Development of healthcare policies mainly depend on the knowledge and willingness of
active participation in determining, developing, implementing as well as evaluating healthcare
policies. Advocacy skills of nurses and experimental background can also affect policy
development. They can help in making better decision regarding people health as ways of
identifying issues strategically, effective ways of working with decision makers, understanding
about people as who hold the power in the workplace and others. One of the main aims of
developing or making healthcare policies is to provide better services to people, improve their
health, provide reimbursement of medical expenses as well as cashless treatments mentioned in
policy. So, it can be said that for making or developing such policies it is important of having
knowledge and experience of working with patients and it can be done by nurses. But on the
other side it is also found that due to work load and lack of time to nurses of taking participation
in policy development can affect healthcare policies in a negative manner. Lack of knowledge,
lack of time, lack of financial and other resources are barriers in better healthcare policy
development (Darch, Baillie and Gillison, 2017).
Critically evaluate leadership theories, skills and practices and the importance of effective
leadership in healthcare
Leadership theories, skills and practices
There are various kinds of leadership theories that can be used by leaders with organizations. But
in healthcare sector most commonly transformational and transactional leadership theories are
used. It is important for leaders to adopt an appropriate and effective leadership theory or style as
it helps them to achieve their desired targets and objectives in a proper and effective manner. it
further helps them in bringing positive changes within organization in such a manner that all the
employees are not impacted negatively and can easily adopt themselves as per new changes.
Transactional leadership theory is a kind of theory that focuses upon leading people by
management of positions within organization organizational hierarchy. This leadership theory is
Document Page
mostly used by leaders and managers in hospitals because it is based upon management process
of controlling, organizing, and short-term planning (Uzohue, Yaya and Akintayo, 2016). This
theory also focuses upon motivating and directing employees by appealing to their own self-
interest. Leaders in health and social care uses this leadership theory as a social exchange process
which is purely based upon power and reward system. In healthcare organizations this theory is
used so that employees can be motivated to achieve organizational goals that includes enhancing
overall health of local people. Transactional readers are successful and effective so that they can
fulfil their roles and responsibilities and can enhance overall loyalty and performance of
employees in a proper and appropriate manner.
Transformational leadership theory: It is a kind of leadership style which used by leaders to
encourage, inspire and motivate employees so that they can take an initiative towards innovation
and create change that can help an organization to grow and shape successful future of
organization (Seidel and et. al., 2019). It is mostly commonly used and wisely supported
leadership theory used within healthcare sector. It encourages both leaders and followers to move
towards innovation and changes for successful future of organization. Health care sector is one
of those sectors in which changes are extremely important and it is also important to focus upon
innovation in order to bring improvement within overall quality of treatment products or services
that are provided to patients. Healthcare sector leaders should be self- confident, aware in
breaking boundaries, focus upon developing multidisciplinary team approach so that overall
patient care can be enhanced. Such kind of leaders require honestly and openness so that overall
quality and standard of healthcare services and products provided to patients by organization can
be enhanced.
There are various kinds of leadership skills that are required by leaders of healthcare
organizations. It is important for leaders of healthcare organizations to have these skills as it
helps them to lead the organization in a positive and effective manner and further helps them to
enhancing overall quality of their services and patient care (Daniëls, Hondeghem and Dochy,
2019). Some important leadership skills required by leaders of healthcare organizations are as
follows:
Communication is one of the most important skill which is required by leaders it helps them to
communicate their goals, targets required to be achieved in a proper manner. It further helps
Document Page
leaders in motivating their team embers, encourage them to achieve their targets in a proper
manner and further helps them in handling difficult situations in a proper and effective manner.
Listening is another important skill which is required within leaders as it helps them in listening
to their team members, understand their view point, understand issues faced by their followers or
team members in a proper manner (Strömgren and et. al., 2017). Not only this, listening further
works as a learning method for leaders because through learning leaders can get new ideas, take
people’s experience and knowledge and use it for development of new ideas.
Planning and vision is another important skill which is required by leaders in healthcare sector.
Leaders who have clear vision and focus upon developing an effective plan to achieve their
desired goals and objectives can overcome any kind of challenges that they faced in achieving
their main vision and targeted objectives within defined time period. Good leaders with excellent
planning and vision are important for healthcare organizations as they not only help organization
in achieving their target on time but also help them in proving high quality of care and service to
their patients.
Importance of effective leadership in healthcare
It is difficult to estimate proper importance of leadership in healthcare organization because it
not only helps in bringing improvement within clinical outcome of patient but also help
organizations in providing and promoting high quality well-being of patient and at workplace
(Sfantou and et. al., 2017). It further helps in enhancing engagement of employees within
workplace and motivate employees so that they can fulfil their roles and responsibilities in a
proper and effective manner. Effective leadership helps in bringing changes within organization
as per changes in real world so that organization can provide care and service to their patients as
per their needs and requirements. It further helps leaders to grasp new ideas or concepts that can
be focused upon by them and implemented within organization (Sfantou and et. al., 2017).
Effective leadership is important for healthcare organizations because it directly helps them in
working as an idle for their employees, motivate them to so that they can participate in bringing
positive changes within organization without degrading their overall performance in a positive
and appropriate manner.

Critically analyse the concept of team working and identify a range of performance strategies
required for team effectiveness, ensuring risk aversion and effective risk management
Team working: It is believed that nurses have to deal with critical patients sometimes and it
becomes difficult for them in decision better treatment for patients and taking decision. Everyone
in this sector lacks in some skills and areas that can create barriers in providing better treatment
to vulnerable people and patients. But with the help of effective team, nurses got opportunities of
improving areas in which they lack and also learn new skills as well as effective ways of
performing functions. So, it can be said that it is important for all nurses of having team working
skill or ability of working in a team in an effective manner. It provides several benefits to nurses
and patients as well.
The Tuckman's team model
These theories are one of most important for developing team work skills along with describing
their four stages that teams should progress through-
Forming:
This stage is basically known as orientation stage where there can be both interpersonal as well
professional level are working at some expectation and developed them in healthcare more
(Natvig and Stark, 2016). The forming stage when everyone getting to know each other
moreover they make better impression while sharing some of good experience, expectation or
guidelines with among them or with their team leaders. This activity is also belonged to good
ideas in developing trust and also get to know different strength plus weaknesses of team.
Storming:
This stage at performance strategies often expectations and some boundaries that individuals
learn more about how to keep others with motivation for making their healthcare developed.
Leader in this stage contributes with their different ideas, while their team members try to have
more focused on projects which they are being allotted. Storming stage where team members
come to know about their members strength and weakness further more how they are working
for their team. Hence, this stage is most important in learning out solving conflicts and
compromise in advancement to next stages.
Norming:
In these nurses have allotted work along with that some roles and responsibilities plus they
should know about others team members roles. Some times team members work according to
Document Page
creating owned roles further more everyone is more responsible for completing their tasks which
have been assigned to them. Few nurses try to develop their own roles as per patients they handle
with that they also have some problems in understanding. In health care society it should more
work with following various rules for their patients in treating them, and they have main duties
in serving the best treatment.
Performing:
This happens when team members work together and need to more developed their systems
which make their healthcare process more smoothly. Take less time to form, storm and norming
in learning, at last performing teams members their nurse can adopted changes and quickly try to
completer their work moreover they can handle more patients for having vast experience. Their
teams members also given them best training for handling their task and also try to complete
them to be very independently in making system developed (Kiweewa and et.al., 2018). When
they gave some basic information about their work then they are must have required to perform
while by having under leaders who are performing their best and have some training with them.
Adjourning:
This might be had some different base which gives team members for being emotional and keep
focused on their team.
Here difference between effective team members and ineffective team which might be more
need to make their healthcare society more developed-
Basis Effective teams Ineffective teams
Meaning In these members are more
participative, comfortable and
relaxed as their leader work
with them having open-
minded.
There team members might be
with under challenged in
facing their patients
effectively.
Objectives Goals and objective are easily
understood with their leaders,
they usually do not keep any
hidden agendas plus measure
for serving patients and their

society more achievable. (Ulrich and Crider, 2017).
Communication Their teams listen to everyone,
build up own interested in each
others ideas furthermore
formally discussion is might
be taken with nurses.
Selective nurses listen to them,
and they always try to mixed
up various information,
messages, few of employee
make proper discussion.
Solving problems In this team leaders also try to
make their environment more
comfortable in handling out
any critical patients. As they
basically focused on issue not
on person, so by which they
can take smoothly decision.
Ineffective team members take
more leaves while they have
some important work in health
care society. They always
avoid and discouraged to other
members.
Decision making Their teams leader involves all
ideas and creation taking any
furthermore decision of
patients along with that they
try to serve best to patients in
fighting against diseases.
Based on voting also, simple
majority is being taken (Ferrell
and Kline, 2018).
Decision is done on forcing
with various level of
commitments. They generally
carry on their time-wasting
process and do not try to
handle more challenging
situations.
Leadership This team has formal leader
which function their activities
on time as they always keep
their members motivated with
positive aspects. Leadership
might be more powerful and
make some valuable decision
They lead on basis of
compromise along with that
developed norms for members
and must lead with their own

towards their nurses.
Motivation They keep their members
always motivated and help
them in solving their problems
with some patients which they
cannot handle over them.
In these they do not listen over
their goals and do not try to
follow over rules. There
leaders not to keep them more
motivated for work, they
ignore personal goals of
different members.
In health care society there should be needed of team work in this society for having there more
patients to solve out their issues regarding any diseases and try to help them in making their best
treatments. While team works support for taking any fast decision of any critical patients further
more they have more new ideas and creativity in handling out them, and they always try to help
their patients in the best ways (Seidel and et. al., 2019). In healthcare society they should require
to work with more effectively. In working team many more individuals any set their more skills
and make feel others for handling the best situation, as they can easily take decision and while
have more communication skills with them in communicating others about any information.
Critically appraise the process of transitioning from student nurse to registered healthcare
professional and reflect on own development needs
Gibb's reflection cycle was developed by Graham Gibbs so that there is a good analyses
of learning and experience which the individuals are having for themselves so that there is going
to be effective working which is going to be present. The further report is going to discuss the
model to analyse myself and take actions accordingly so that there is going to be higher
achievement which I can get in the future.
Description
There are a lot of challenges and development which I have made from a student to nurse
from which I gathered a lot of knowledge and experience which is going to be a great factor for
myself. There is a lot of reading and tests which I had to give in order to be able to achieve the
target and objectives which I had set for myself in becoming a nurse so that there is going to be
effective working (Okpala, 2018). Time limitations is a major challenges which I have faced
Document Page
because there is a lot of knowledge and right skills which are required in a nurse and to be able to
get that right which is going to help me in getting licence for practising I had to analyse myself
effectively so that there is going to be effective working which would be present. There has to be
a match between expectations and demands of the people which has to be present so that there is
going to be effective working and achievement of goals.
Feelings
At time when I have made students nurse to registered healthcare I was feelings too
excited while taking my work. I am thinking that before handling some situation it could be more
useful for me that could develop my skills and helps to increase my knowledge. But after I was
very glad to my management team that they have given me the best opportunities for making my
skills more useful. Other peoples with me in team also thinks that only how should this work
make them more effective and how they can easily manage their work according to time demand
along with that, they could need to be developed time skills, make theme more participative in
different challenges. As they are also feeling best to management team that could help them in
managing critical patients. I was just thinking about that while by going towards registered
healthcare there I will found many other situation and this how should being more need to be
developed in me. Also, about managing my time limitations in every work which could be going
more achievable goals (Ahmed, 2020). When I have done my work I was to relaxed and more
excited for taking more risk in facing upcoming challenges.
Evaluation
Regarding transitioning of students nurses to registered healthcare I have evaluated my
communication while working in team members. I have learned various ways of understanding
patients needs and their wants when they are fighting with diseases. How to manage my time
while performing with critical patients. I have one good experience of being that it developed my
communication skills that could be done by having support of my leaders. For that developing I
have attended different seminar that make my skills and knowledge more. The bad experience'
was that I can't speak in front of anyone while performing my duty whether I was right or wrong.
In developing that I need to attended to many seminars, prepare presentation, conference so that
could keep supporting me and make skills more useful for some patients. The well was that
working in team I found many things that increased skill and keep me motivated. Team
management positively helps in making develop, as they try to motivate me for handling patients
Document Page
while by giving proper training and development program which held back-to-back (He,
Parkinson and Doyle, 2018). Negatively aspects also being happened that I have more fear of
attending patients at time of facing challenges and have lack of communication.
Analysis
I think my work was spent well in performing with team members that could always try
me to move on towards work. So that developed my mind and transitioning students nurses to
registered healthcare. My management thinks that I can easily handle over every situation and
challenges which patients are facing at their time of treatments. I have also the best skills for
taking very decision fast that could help others, I also think that while working in team it saves
many times in doing anything whether taking discussion over any things and work gone
according to plan. I have also analysed myself in taking own patients treatment and helping them
in their problems with making my own roles and responsibilities further more my management
team always keeps me motivated towards work so that I can try my best. Effective team work
seems to be more strength in different team members. Group think is most important for
developing skills, as they need to be more knowledge and try to help out them for being
confident (Markkanen and et.al., 2020). As I was afraid of stage fear so that supervisor has given
training to me and other members that if some seminars can be handle over my team members
only, as they need to be more developed as they required in particular work which they have
assigned.
Conclusion
I have learned many things like making proper communication, build up confident and
time management, now as being registered healthcare it could be more supportive for me.
Positive situations that happens when now easily I can attend any other patients who are
suffering with diseases and my management have trust on me that I can easily complete my jobs
for which they have selected me and given best position. For handling this situation I need to
develop time management and better communication that likely could make possible together. In
the future, I will try to have self identify moreover the best suggestion that could work for longer
on any things. I had learnt that sometimes challenges of any problems can be mightily depended
on group discussion which could be agreed for ensuring more things just because of group
thinking.

Transitioning students nurses to healthcare my team members basically helped me more,
and they try to keep observing my strengths. If some another day it could be happened with same
issues of communication for that before only I will prepare my self while by taking different
training program and development that could always try to help me (Tanaka, Okamoto and
Koide, 2018). I need more observing and technologies skills which I think that could be more
important that required to be developed and for that I will take some online classes which would
be beneficially for my patients plus easily I can help them. I will also try to manage my work
according to situation if some critical patients are their, I will look out them first and after that I
can easily handle some more patients in keeping mind with patience. As I will try to make sure
that I could try to always used up my skills and knowledge in keeping them for diseases free.
Remembering thinks I want best results in possible will make me as able to disagree when it
feels uncomfortable. I will suggest that work should be more assigned in team members. While
working at position of registered healthcare is also most hard jobs that could need more skills
and developed knowledge furthermore having more learning that are to be required in me. Team
management helps me most of time in developing techniques and better communication in forms
of two ways and have the best skills in accepting challenges.
CONCLUSION
From this report it has concluded that in healthcare society they need too also follow
political factor which would be most important for nurses like in maintaining their policies with
wages or salary. They also needed for having leadership skills that is most essential in their
society. Leadership management always tries to make their team members motivated along with
that they can help in achieving goals or objective, what they had prepared. In making more teams
developed leaders need to prepare different tactics. Leaders also used Tuckman's models for their
members in setting them at different stage of levels which support them in understanding various
forms, norms, storms and performing. Effective and ineffective team members are also being
their, that could be more useful for members in proper keeping attention towards their work.
Effective team members always helps healthcare society in making their members more
motivated. Gibbs reflective models in transitioning of students nurses to registered healthcare
process and facing various challenges in different situations which is most important for them.

While for being at that position they basically required knowledge and developed skills in their
working area. Communication and lack of stage fear needed more to be developed, so for that
they required to attended seminars and conference meetings in supporting for work.
