INTRODUCTION
Leadership is an art or a skill of an individual to
influence and motivate other individuals in the
organizations. This is more of a top level job
performed by entrepreneurs and the managers of the
company.

Leadership
This refers to the ability of a person or a group of
people to guide and influence the members associated
with the organization. This process involves critical
thinking, making effective decision and articulating a
clear vision in front of the employees so that company
can achieve its desired goals.

Management
This is an approach to get things done in an effective and
organized manner. This is a process of creation of an
environment in which employees will co-operate with their
colleagues so that the common goal of the organization can be
achieved. This process is of a recurring nature and needs to be
continuously worked upon. The manager of the organization is
responsible to perform activities such as planning, organizing
resources leading and controlling the set of events

Difference between leadership and management

Role of a manager in HEAT Industry
Heat is an acronym used to represent four major industries of
the economy i.e. hospitality, events, aviation and tourism. All
of these industries are required to manage their day to day
operations in order to ensure smooth working in the
organization. A manager is responsible to for administrating
tasks and people working in the organization. Basic
functionalities of a manager in the organization helps in co-
ordination of the HR, operations, marketing and finance
departments in the organization.

Hospitality Industry
This is a broad industry which includes food and beverages,
drinks and accommodation of guests. Managing all of these
activities is essential and there are certain roles of manager
which helps the organization in maximizing their revenue.
Managing budgets- There has to be a set plan to execute the
financial activities in the organization, these budgets are
approved by managers in order to estimate the expenditure and
revenue that will occur during the financial year. Comparison
of these made budgets to the actual performance helps the
organisation in comparison and analysis.

Events
Event management is an art of application of different
projects in order to manage a small or a large event. A
manager plays important roles in organizing a event, few
of these roles are discussed below:
Research venues- The basic requirement of organizing an
event is a good venue. The managers puts different aspects
such as the location, availability, price and area while
searching for an appropriate venue.

Aviation
This industry is associated with the tasks of transportation
through air by different aircrafts (Bolden, Gulati and Edwards,
2019). This is a billion euro industry and needs be manage
properly as it is related with the security of the nation.
Managing security- This is the prime job of a manger of
aviation industry, they need to ensure that the required set of
security procedure are followed at the airport and the flight.
Following proper security guidelines ensures the safety of the
passengers and other staff members.

Tourism
Tourism sector consists of all the activities that people do
while travelling from place to another (Le, 2020).
Management of these activities is important to increase
customer experience and profitability in the business:
Offering services to the tourists according to the
requirement- Managers of different tourism companies
prepare requirements according to the client’s need and
travel purposes.

Leadership style followed by Alison Brittain
Alison Jane Brittain is a British businesswoman, she is
the CEO of Whitbread. Hotel Premier Inn’s parent
organization is Whitbread, this hotel chain is said to be
UK’s largest hotel brand. They have more than 800
hotels with around 7200 rooms in almost every location
in the country. Alison Brittain is one of the most
successful leader of UK, she has managed to make one
of the largest hotel chain in the history of United
Kingdom

CONCLUSION
By above discussion it can be concluded that both management and leadership is essential for the
business. Both of them are different in terms of functions and responsibilities in the organization.
Every manager and leader follows a different set of style in managing and motivating the
employees of the organization. The role of manager in HEAT industry is prominent, they manage
the day to day operations and are significantly important in maximizing the revenue of these
industries. Successful leaders such as Alison Brittain also follows leadership styles in order to
maximize the profitability in their hotels.
