INTRODUCTION
Indra Nooyi is considered to be one of the influencing leader and former CEO of the
PessiCo. She was born on 28th of October 1995 and has been graduated from Madras Christian
college and post graduation Diploma programme from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.
Master's degree in Private and Public management from Yale School of Management in the year
1980.
MAIN BODY
Indra Nooyi has joined PepsiCo in the year 1995 and has served the company for 17 long
years. Indra Nooyi quotes that, “Please help other rise (Hunt and Fitzgerald, 2018). Greatness
does not come from a position, but from helping to build the future. It is our obligation to pull
other individuals up.” Nooyi has worked as a strategic planner in the Boston consulting Group.
Furthermore, Indra Nooyi has also worked in Johnson and Johnson company in India. Indra
Nooyi has been president of Armsot System and is also considered to be the board member of
amazon.
Indra Nooyi has led PepsiCo to various strategic alliances like merger and acquisition
which in turn has resulted in increase in the level of the market share and profitability for the
company. Indra Nooyi is considered to be one of the powerful women ion the world as she has
been ranked as 19th number in the Forbes (Onyusheva and Dugar, 2019). Indra Nooyi is
responsible for increasing the sales of the PepsiCo by 80%. Indra Nooyi has been awarded as the
best CEO in the world in the year 2018 by the CEO world magazine. She also tends to serve
various number of chairs which mainly comprises of trustee at Eisenhower fellowship, Lincoln
centre for performing arts, membership at world economic forum.
PepsiCo is one of the leading company which manufactures carbonated soft drink. This
company was founded in the year 1893 by Caleb Bradham.
Leadership style
Indra Nooyi tends to focus on 5 Cis of leadership which in turn plays a significant role in
relation with the growth of the particular business. The elements associated with the leadership
mainly comprises of character, commitment, confidence, courage and communication.
Character: It has been evaluated that, Indra Nooyi is a confident person because it tends
to portray the confident state of mind while taking decisions related with the merger and
acquisition.

Courage: Indra Nooyi is a courageous women because it tends to focus on protecting
Tropicana which in turn helps PespsiCo company in gaining competitive advantage.
Confidence: The takeover of Tropicana has demonstrated that Indra Nooyi is a confident
and courageous women and tends to take various strategic decision.
Commitment: Communication with the members and maintaining strategic relationship
with the employees and customers is considered evident for the company. She has effective
communication skills.
Transformational leadership theory
According to Bass, there are four elements associated with the transformational
leadership which mainly includes:
Idealized Influence: She is the women of setting example of ethics and morals by
building a workforce which is filled with motivated and inspired people in order to make a
difference in PepsiCo.
Inspirational Motivation: She focuses on inspiring others in order to commit to a shared
vision and pushing individuals to be better personally, ethically and productively (Sokol, 2017).
Intellectual Stimulation: Indra Nooyi focuses on individual to be independent and
creative. She focuses on empowering each employee to invent new local flavour of Lay's.
Individualized Consideration: Indra Nooyi focuses on showing appreciation to the
employees by writing letters to each parent.
Indra Nooyi tends to possess various technical skills which is mainly dependent on
human, technical and conceptual skills.
Technical skills: Indra Nooyi has technical skills and use her scientific knowledge in
order to introduce fibre from orange peels.
Human skills: She always tends to focus on keeping people first in order to achieve
organizational goals (FEW, 2015.).
Conceptual skills: Indra Nooyi tends to focus on bringing vision to reality which helps in
