Introduction
Mental health issue refers to a group disorder that are associated with thinking, mood and
behaviour. It includes number of health problems such as stress, anxiety, depression and many
more that are among people. However, there are various kinds of mental illness including ADHD
(attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder), autism spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, borderline
personality disorder, depression, dissociative disorder, dual diagnosis & integrated treatment of
mental illness and substance abuse disorder, eating disorder, OCD (obsessive compulsive
disorder), PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), psychosis, schizo-affective disorder,
schizophrenia as well as anxiety disorders (AbdAleati, Zaharim and Mydin, 2016). However,
mental health problems are more critical and also impact on physical wellness that may develop
complications if not treated on time. In addition to this, it consist different signs or symptoms
which can be observed in mental patients that are based on specific psychological disorder
present. It includes feeling down or sad, decrease capability to concentrate or confused thinking,
extreme feelings of guilt or excessive worries or fears, extreme mood changes of lows & highs,
withdrawal from friends & activities, significant tiredness, problems sleeping or low energy,
detachment from reality including hallucinations, delusions or paranoia and inability to
overcome with regular stress or problems. It also contains trouble understanding & relating to
conditions and to people, issues with alcohol or drug use, sex drive changes, major eating habits,
suicidal thinking, excessive hostility and violence or anger. Meanwhile it has been analysed that
mental health concern become a type of mental illness at the time when ongoing symptoms or
signs cause frequent stress as well as impact capability of an individual to function.
On the other hand, psychological problems requires proper treatment by consuming
required duration of time which facilitate to improve condition of an individual and make them
them completely well. It includes that only medications are to much sufficient in terms of
enhancing health of an individual but psychological therapies and counselling are also significant
(Rasouli and et. al., 2016). Basically, it is required for care professionals and government to
organise health promotion programs to make people aware about initials symptoms of mental
problems and encourage them to immediately consult the doctor for avoiding relevant
complications. Meanwhile, it is observed that early diagnosis of mental health problems is

suitable because it is easy to treat them as compared to late evaluation. However, many of people
are generally facing problem of stress, anxiety and depression but they did not take it seriously
which may results into more complicated psychological condition condition. Such circumstances
are not easy to be treated and professionals requires more careful ad appropriate clinical efforts
in order to make patient overcome with this situation. Moreover, mental health problems occurs
due to number of causes in which some of them are mentioned here. Initially, psychological
issues can be an inherited traits that means family history or genetic transfer of gene containing
trait of mental disorder which pass on from old to next generation accordingly (Liu and et. al.,
2017). Secondly, the environmental exposure before birth is another cause of occurring mental
problem such as toxins, alcohol or drugs while in womb, inflammatory conditions and exposure
to environmental stressors. Thirdly, it includes brain chemistry that when neural networks get
impaired which results into changed function of nerve receptors & systems.
Mental health problems has various risk associated with it about which people are
required to be remain aware for maintaining their psychological wellness. It includes that the
history of mental illness in blood relation including parent or sibling is primary risk of occurring
such issue with an individual. However, it includes the factor of life's condition full of stress like
death of loved one, divorce or financial problems. It consist the ingoing chronic health problem
condition like diabetes and situation of damage of brain that is an outcome of severe injury
(traumatic brain injury) including violent blow to the head. Meanwhile, it involves the risk of
having an experience of trauma such as military combat or assault and utilisation of recreation
drugs or alcohol. Moreover, it includes the risk factors of having past with childhood hood or
neglect, past psychological illness and few healthy relations or friends in life. Basically, it has
been analysed that psychological issue should be treated as soon as possible because they have
various complications in which few of them are given here. Initially, it contains the unhappiness
and reduced enjoyment on life of a person and developing more conflict in family. Secondly, it
consist social isolation, difficulties related to relations and problems relevant with alcohol,
tobacco or another drugs (AbdAleati, Zaharim and Mydin, 2016). Thirdly, it involves the
situation of missing work or school or another issue linked with school or work as well as
circumstances in which an individual is facing homelessnesses or poverty. Meanwhile, it
involves self harm or harming other people including the attempt of suicide or homicide.
Additionally, it includes the weakened immune system due to which human body feel hard time

resisting against different types of infections. Furthermore, it also consist the problems like heart
diseases and another medication condition that may develop.
The early diagnosis of depression and anxiety is very important to avoid relevant
complications. Initially, it consist the criterion of carrying out physical exam by the physician to
evaluate the cause behind symptoms related to psychological illness. However, it involves
number of lab tests such as analysing the thyroid function and screening for alcohol & drugs
which are responsible for occurrence of mental health issues among individuals. Meanwhile it
includes the psychological evaluation by communication with patient about their own feelings,
thoughts, behaviour patterns as well as symptoms. Basically, these problems can be treated by
different clinical methods in order to make patients well-being (Rasouli and et. al., 2016). It
includes antidepressants that are utilised for treating the anxiety, depression and other relevant
conditions. It is helpful to overcome with several signs including hopelessness, lack of energy,
difficulty concentrating, lack of interest in activities and sadness. In addition to this, anti-anxiety
medications are also prescribed to patient by psychiatrist because they are favourable in treating
panic or anxiety disorder along with reducing the issue of insomnia as well as agitation.
Moreover, the mood-stabilising medications are generally used for providing treatment of bipolar
disorder that consist alternating episodes of depression and mania. It has been analysed that

or drug abuse for making people capable to overcome with this addicted situation.

Aim: The aim of this project is “To examine the use of leadership and management
theories in mental health to deal effectively with patients suffering from depression and anxiety”.
The mental health problems are severe condition which are required to be deal by
carrying out proper and careful clinical practices in order to deliver appropriate care to patients.
It includes that decision making of nursing staff should be accurate and personal nurse is
required to be appoint for every individual. However, it includes to utilise effective leadership
theory in respect of managing nursing staff among patients to improve their overall health. It
consist the criterion of understanding difficulties faced by staff wile dealing with people
suffering from anxiety and depression. It is favourable to develop way of performance clinical
practices with the help of using effective mange theories so that work load can be managed
among employees (Reeves, Parkera and Konkle-Parker, 2016). It will provide support to deliver
appropriate care services and provide accurate medication to every individual for making them
overcome with their psychological condition. Moreover, it involve to examine different
leadership theories and management theories to identify the suitable one to provide effective care
facilities for well-being of mental patients. In addition to this, it includes the examine that
different leadership theories are appropriate for differentiated conditions. Furthermore, it is also
helpful to identify commonly used leadership and management in healthcare organisation to deal
with people having problem of anxiety and depression.

reflect about presence of psychological issue. It consist to determine proper cause behind
occurrence of any type of psychological problems like anxiety and depression which helps to
make appropriate care plan for addressing the specific issue of an individual. Meanwhile, the

Justification
This study is all about to analyse about mental health problems and their management
among staff member of hospital so that every patient will get appropriate care facilities. It is
essential or hospital management to make sure that every individual will get personal attendant
and medication on time (Reeves, Parker and Konkle-Parker, 2016). As there are number of
psychological issues are occur which lead to various mental problems. This lead to changes in
their mood and behaviour which result in increasing of psychological disorder in them.
Meanwhile, the treatment can be occur in various ways but while treating with mental patients it
is necessary to implement effective strategies from which their health can be enhanced. It has
been justify that the leaders and managers are efficient to treat patients with mental disorders by
their interpersonal skills. So, leadership and management theories can be used to deliver
appropriate care to mental health patients. There are some effective clinical practices which help
in treating mental patients by considering their perception, behaviour and mood (Huh and et. al.,
2017). The effective care depends on decision of health care practitioner or nursing at the time of
delivering care to them.
Basically, the objectives of this investigation to evaluate effective leadership and
management theory to allocate desired clinical tasks among employees which helps to achieve
goal of improve patient outcomes. This result in obtaining effective and positive outcomes in
their treatment. The leadership and management can help such patients as they have appropriate
skills such as communication and others which help in developing care treatment among

and et. al., 2016 The main aim of this is to obtaining leadership and management theories in

2016). The main aim of organisation is to implement such strategies and theories that can help in
delivering appropriate care to mental health patients. As leadership and management theories
can help organisation to make decision which benefited patients in their health. This can provide
support to health care professionals in terms of health from which they can influence care and
treatment.

In context of this project, it is based on the aim of analysing mental health problem
including anxiety and depression among people. It will focus on the effective diagnosing
technique in order to examine actual cause behind occurrence of particular psychological
disorder. However, it will provide support to care professionals to make an appropriate decision
making in terms of making an individual well-being. This project is about understanding of
mental health problems that occur in individual life by various issues that leads to psychological
issue such as depression, anxiety and stress (Tang and Koh, 2017). It also includes effectiveness
of clinical practices that help in treating mental health problems of patients. In care and
treatment, leadership and management plays an important role in effectiveness of care to mental
health patients. So, the theories of leadership and management are also included in this project
which assist in delivering proper care to patients. The main aim of this project is to integrate
strategies and procedures that can help in developing care among mental patients.
On the other hand, this investigation will focus on the basic understanding about mental
health problems which specially consist anxiety and depression. It is observed that these issues
are commonly determined among people due busy and fast life. However, it has been analysed

that anxiety and depression is mostly evaluated in context of young individuals. It includes that
lack of awareness among citizens related to depression or anxiety is responsible for developing
relevant complications in their condition, it is necessary to provide desired information about
psychological disorder among individuals along with making them formed about precautions to
avoid such problems (Trompetter and et. al., 2017). In addition to this, this study will also
include the analysis of effective clinical practices which are appropriate to be carried out for
conducting diagnosis of evaluating particular psychological disorder along with their actual
cause. It will facilitate to establish an efficient plan of action for providing accurate care services
for welfare of an individual.
The identification of cause and actual reason is important because it is essential to
eliminate that specific cause which helps to treat particular mental health problem in proper
manner. It includes the criterion of conducting physical test, lab test including MRI or CT-Scan
and psychological examination by communicating with patient (Elhai and et. al., 2016).
Meanwhile, it consist various treatment practices which consist antidepressants, anti-anxiety
medications, mood-stabilising medications, antipsychotic medications, psychotherapy, brain
stimulation treatments and substance misuse treatments. The evaluation of various types of
leadership and management theories that are applicable among mental health staff to deal with
psychological patients in proper manner. It includes the utilisation of correct leadership style in
terms of managing work load in healthcare organisation so that they can attend every single
patients in desired way. Meanwhile, it consist manage clinical operations to deliver better health
among people suffering from depression and anxiety (Jacob and et. al., 2016).
