INTRODUCTION
Leadership is considered as an important art which is helpful in development of well
managed team. In the recent times, importance of leadership has increased due to complexities in
operations in different businesses (Arnold, Fletcher, and Hobson, 2018). This is one of the key
roles of a leader to focus on development of leadership in a well defined manner in order to
develop effective and precise operations. All major companies in the international and national
marketplace should focus on implementation of best leadership practices for increasing chances
of systematic and precise development. In this project example of Tesco company is taken into
consideration which is a British multinational retail firm performing operations in 11 countries.
The Tesco company was established in the year in 1919 and its headquarters are based in
London, United Kingdom. This project will cover characteristics and traits of a good leader
along with key aspects of good leadership. The report will cover the key considerations which
distinguishes leadership with management. The report will also include reflection on what I have
learned from this module and other things.

What is involved in being a successful leader
A successful leader is the most important resource for an organisation who is capable of
making a company more effective at the marketplace. Successful leader performs various
responsibilities which are important to be considered in order to lead the marketplace. The main
role of a business is to perform key considerations which are important to be developed in order
to formulate actions according to contemporary business environment (Bush, 2020). Successful
leader should practice all the major approaches which are helpful in making employees more
versatile. Qualities of successful leader of Tesco are mentioned below:
Goal oriented- It is very much important for a leader to be goal oriented in order to
achieve the key targets. The goals of employees and whole organisation should be the
main target of leader, so that whole business entity can do progress. In order to develop
goals and achieve them, there is a need of practising key considerations which are
important. Framing the strategies and policies are also important tasks for a leader in
order to accomplish targets in a specified time period.
Motivation- This is one of the major qualities which should be present in a leader to lead
the organisation. It is also one of the key roles of a leader to develop and formulate key
practices which are important for the company. Motivation is a most important factor
which should be considered in order to give spirit to employees. With the implementation
of best motivation techniques, it could be possible for the company to enhance
performance of employees (Bush, Bell, and Middlewood, 2019). Motivation is also one
of the important factors which is important for academic growth. In order to enhance
productivity and output of employees motivation is a major factor.
Enthusiasm and positivism- A successful leader is always enthusiastic and positive in
dealing with every aspect or function of a business. It is most crucial for a leader to be
enthusiastic in order to set an example for other employees. The main role of a leader is
to spread positivity in employees so that they can remain positive in each and every
situation (Chongwony, Gardner, and Tope, 2020). The positivity is also supportive in key
situations of the organisation and it is also main task of a leader to make employee
positive in critical situations of company.

qualities correctly (Gürlek, and Çemberci, 2020). Company managers or directors are focused on
increasing profits and making more money with the support of leadership in a well defined
manner. It also helps to develop empathic leaders and the right kind of people to maintain a work
culture. Influencing the behaviour of others is known as leadership but with professionalism.
Leaders are responsible for motivating and encouraging their subordinates to achieve their goals
and objectives. Efficient managers need to maintain personal contact with their employees. A
good leader must support all his subordinates in every situation. This helps build good
relationships with employees. It also helps improving business revenue opportunities. It also
analyse the use of different leadership styles by management to help supervise and manage
different business operations. The companies in global and domestic marketplace including
Tesco focus on increasing chances of good leader development. Key considerations which are
important for a leader makes the whole organisation developed and versatile.

into consideration application of best leadership theory. The autocratic leadership is considered
as least important theory as it ignores effective decision making. In order to lead the competition,
it is essential for a company to focus on main elements related to leadership style (Hallinger,
2019). I will focus on selecting suitable leadership style in order to increase my approach
towards precise leadership. I will select democratic style of leadership so that I could lead others
and their involvement. The participation of all employees or team members in decision making is
most essential for a personality and employee development. Leadership approach is best strategy
which helps in increasing the productivity of whole organisation.
Adam's Equity theory of motivation
This is one of the major motivational theories based on social interaction and its related
aspects. This states that employees feel motivated when they are treated equally and weighed
fairly (Hassi, 2019). Fair treatment not only helps compare effective and efficient levels, but
directly motivates employees to achieve the best results to remain competitive in the market.
Motivational theory and practice have been shown to help motivate individuals to perform their
best when leaders and managers instruct employees.
Monitoring, supervision and control
A good leadership can be established with the help of effective monitoring and

and Iqbal, 2020). I will implement ethical practices in leadership and try to be honest so that I
should lead other. In order to develop my personality, I will take help of development of quality
trends. I will also develop information and communications technology skills so that I could
manage my subordinate team members. I will also implement key practices related to leadership
in order to develop my potential for key job roles. I will take into account all the duties I will
need to perform and then I will focus on obeying duties with more enthusiasm.
