Leadership Management
There are five practices of leadership that are given by Kouzes and Posner. Being a
supermarket manager, I have to play the role of a leader in order to encourage and motivate
the staff. I applied these five practices and get a good result. Although, I faced some
challenges but it has a more positive impact as compare to negative. I always start the work
by setting the vision in order to operate smoothly and achieve the objective as per the plan
and vision. Setting the vision shared the moral values with the people in order to inspire the
employees. .
The other practice of leadership is model the way which defines the behaviour in the
way that reflects the share values. I always shared the values with my teams so that they
perform well in their services. But sometimes, I faced some challenges while sharing some
moral and ethical values with the employees as everyone has their own perspective (Pardey,
2016). For example- Employees understand the rules and regulation of the organisation as per
the different way which is different from the manager perspective during the training period.
The challenge the process is the practice which I always want to apply in the
workplace so that I can achieve success in maintaining the employees. I always encourage
my staff to grab the new opportunities by analysing the risk, and the capabilities in order to
do so. There are many times I failed in evaluating the risk while grabbing the opportunities.
The practice of Encourage the heart, I always appreciate the employees who are
working with the organisation (Business Balls, 2018). Each and every month, the rewards
events are organised by me on the basis of the work of employees. This method also helps to
encourage the rest of the employees in order to perform their services well in the
organisation. But due to these practices, the conflicts also arise in the workplace. This can be

explained with the examples- The people of the organisation who are not awarded on the
basis of their performance are getting demotivated due to which the issue of conflict among
the members is arises.
The practice of enabling others to act is the best practices which help me to improve
the performance of employees. I always encourage the staff by appreciating them in front of
others or by giving them rewards in award meetings. But allocating them new responsibilities
with the trust helps to maintain the performance of employees. I promoted the employees
with their position during the meetings of performance appraisals. I also encouraged them to
grab new opportunities to achieve the objective. Example- In every year, employees are
promoted for the upper positions in the supermarket.
