INTRODUCTION
Leadership introduces as an art of motivating and inspiring people or group of person
towards accomplishment of common goals. Within an organisational setting, leadership meaning
is directing colleague and employees with a strategy to meet the business requirements.
Management refers to the process of planning, organising, decision making, motivating, leading
and controlling the physical, human, finance and information resources of a business to reach its
goals in effective and efficient manner (Haque, Sher and Urbański, 2020). Along with this,
sustainability is important within leadership and management because with the help of this, they
leader and manager can easily manage companies with society, environment and long term
sustainable development goals in mind (Swanwick, 2019). For this report, Brewers Fayre is a
chosen hospitality organisation that is specialising for serving traditional British pub food. This
licensed pub restaurant chain was founded in 1979 and headquartered in Dunstable, England as
well as served area of United Kingdom. Main purpose of this report is to identify the positive
impact of sustainable leadership and management within Brewers Fayre.
TASK 1
P1 Different classical management theories and their application within Brewers Fayre
A classical management theory is a type of management theory that is based on the
beliefs of employees, which are related with their economic and physical needs. There are
different types of classical management theories that are beneficial within a workplace of
Brewers Fayre (Soomro, Memon and Shah, 2020). These theories are explained in context of
Brewers Fayre;
Scientific management theory: Scientific management introduces to the management
theory that evaluates work flows to enhance economic productivity, especially employee
efficiency. Scientific management theory was developed by Frederick Winslow Taylor in 1880s
and 1890s within U.S. manufacturing industries. This theory is essential within a workplace of
Brewers Fayre because it increase employee’s productivity and performance that result in
achievement of long term goals and objectives. For this theory, Brewers Fayre should monitor
performance of their workers as well as give them training and instructions when they required.
This will be essential for hospitality organisation in retaining of talented employees for longer

theory that is concerned with how to manage employee productivity by understanding their

contributed by Mary Parker Follett, Elton Mayo, and Abraham Maslow. Therefore, this is
important theory for Brewers Fayre because this will helps them in increasing of motivation and
satisfaction among employees that result in improved productivity and higher employee retention
(Jameel and Ahmad, 2020). This will be beneficial for them in improvement of their brand
reputation at national as well as international level.
P2 Role of the leader and different leadership styles in a Brewers Fayre
Leader is an individual person that motivates and inspires their employees to work
towards achievement of organisational goals and objectives in successful manner. There are
different roles of leader within a workplace of Brewers Fayre. These are explained as under;
As a role of motivator: Increasing motivation among employees is main role of leader
that helps business organisation in improving of their business performance. In order to motivate
employees, leader of the Brewers Fayre have to provide accurate direction towards work.
Therefore, motivated employees within a workplace help Brewers Fayre in increasing of
customer base that output in increased profitability.
As a role of decision maker: This is another main role played by leader within a
workplace of Brewers Fayre. They have responsibility to make an effective decision about the
achievement of business growth and success (Lofquist and Matthiesen, 2018). Thus, making
effective decision is essential for company in improving their business performance and
productivity.

Sustainable leadership is when a business leader manages companies with long term and
environment development goals. This is important and beneficial for company because it helps
them in fulfilment of its corporate social responsibility as well as marinating of their financial
performance. Therefore, use of Laissez-faire leadership style and Democratic leadership style,
Brewers Fayre become able in maintaining of their financial performance through protecting
environment and societies (Latif and et. al., 2020). For example: with the help of democratic and
laissez-faire, Brewers Fayre can easily motivate their employees to work in effective and
sustainable manner. This turn to impact on their business performance and growth of Brewers
Fayre.
Sustainable management within hospitality industry or Brewers Fayre major develops
understanding and skills within hospitality business management, which incorporates profit,
ethics, people, planet and equity. Sustainable management is important for hotel in reducing of

The Internal and External Factors that influence the management styles and structures in
Brewers Fayre and affect the performance of Organisation are Technology Available, Company
policy, skills of staff, number of staff available, competitors, customer wants, desired quality,
legislation and many other factors. The Internal factors are as follows-
Number of Staff is an internal factor that influences the management style and structure of
Brewers Fayre. It is important for the manager to identify the staff needs and fulfil their
requirements so that they can give their productive outcomes in making business of Hotel
Successful (Walsh and Arnold, 2020). The Organisation must identify the number of staff
required to perform the activities and functioning of Hotel.

Technology Available is also a factor that influences the management structure and styles
of Hotel. The Organisation must focus on new technology that helps in attracting strong
customer base towards the Hotel. The technology helps in improving performance and efficiency
of employees so that they can provide better services to customers.
Company Policy is another factor that can create an impact on management style and
structure of Organisation. The Brewers Fayre must work according to the Organisation policies
that are set by board of directors in order to run the business smoothly and effectively. The
Management must work according to the company policies to reduce any conflicts and problem.
Skill of Staff is also a factor that affects the management structure and style of Brewers
Fayre. It is important for the organisation to hire the top talent with good skills that attracts the
customers towards brand. The skill of staff matters in maintaining the positive environment and

From the above mentioned report, it has been concluded that leadership and management
are important part of hospitality organisation. It has been concluded that sustainable leadership
and management helped hospitality business in reducing of its waste as well as attraction of
larger base of customers within minimum time. There are different types of leadership styles i.e.
Laissez-faire leadership style and Democratic leadership style. These helped hospitality
organisation in successfully development of its business. Along with this, use of hard and soft
leadership and management skills also helped hospitality organisation in accomplishment of
competitive advantages.
