INTRODUCTION
Leadership refers to ability of individual by which they can influence and give guidelines to other
individuals of organisation (Noe and et. al., 2017). Leadership comprises of both practical skills and research
area which encompasses knowledge of individual to guide organisation, team or an individual. Leadership
development involves expansion of capability of individuals by which they can effectively perform their role of
leadership in organisation (Anderson and Anderson, 2010). Management development refers to process of
systematic management growth and training by which knowledge, attitude, insights and skills of individuals
can be enhanced. In this report Kelly's Eye Footwear is taken, which was initially known by Kelly Shoes. It
was started by Sean Kelly in 1991 in Lucin, Dublin. Sean was shoemaker who used to repair shoes and
sometimes make shoes. Then they started their own organisation which provided handmade boots for
football, rugby and soccer players. In following report executive summary is provided, key criteria is identified
which is must for new chief executive officer.

This report is inclined to identify key attributes which are essential for role of Chief Executive Officer. This
report will gain insight into profile and characteristics of three candidates which are chosen by Board of
Directors. Initially knowledge, skills and attributes possessed by different candidates for CEO in Kelly's
Eye Footwear are recognized. Furthermore, selected criteria for this post is identified. It is essential for
organisation to acquire a candidate who have strong vision and must align behaviour of individual to
achieve organisational goal. When appropriate candidate is selected, it is must that training and
development must be provided to individual so that they can acquire skills which are missing. This will have
direct impact on vision of organisation.

Kelly's Eye Footwear is known for offering hand-crafted football boots. They are providing their
services in different parts of Europe and UK. They are experiencing a high growth. Major reason behind this
is that healthy employee relationship is maintained among management and Sean is known for rewarding
loyalty with one-off generous bonuses. This helped him to retain their employees for longer duration of time.
Sean is about to retire from position of managing director. As there is no one who can take this position they
have opted for appointing CEO. Person who will be appointed as CEO will be responsible for handling entire
department. For conducting recruitment of individuals for this specific post key criteria has been formulated
to decide which candidates meet requirements of that role.

Marketing: Candidate must be aware of marketing theories. Furthermore, individual must have
adequate knowledge of marketing techniques which they can be used for promoting services provided by them
in international market (Carmichael and et. al., 2011). This will enable CEO of Kelly's Eye Footwear to ensure that
techniques which are used by marketing department are effective.
Customer and Employee Relations: CEO of Kelly's Eye Footwear must consider relationship with
each entity so that they can have appropriate advantage. They need to ensure that person who has been

Problem Solving: It is the senior post within organisation, so it is must that recruited candidate must
be able to deal with different hurdles which can arises within organisation at any moment of time, they can be
due to functionalities of organisation, alteration in decision-making or modification in any of policies or laws

Analytical Skills: It is relevant for candidate to possess this skill so that they can have adequate
knowledge of of both environment i.e. external and internal, advertising and pricing strategies which are used
by competitors. This will assist CEO to formulate their strategies by considering these aspects.
Communication: Candidate who is selected for role of CEO must possess fabulous verbal and written
communication skills (Donate and de Pablo, 2015). They must have professional vocalization and empathic
listeners by which they will be able to address different board of directors and managers and also listen to
them.

responsibilities and various situations which can have significant impact on organisation.
Creative: Person who will be operating in senior role must be innovative and creative so that they can

Adaptive: Chosen candidate must be adaptable to different situations which may occur within
organisation and may not possess irrelevant attitude due to their position. This will help them to adopt to

CEO (Goetsch and Davis, 2014). Each criteria has been scored out of 10. To understand this example can be
considered like technical knowledge which must be possessed by CEO is scored 9 and its importance within
organisation is 100% that means 1. By this it can be said that in technical knowledge score which is
mandatory to attain is 9 (9*1). Individual must have minimum 83.7 score to be shortlisted for profile of CEO.

characteristics for this profile but there are certain elements which must not be taken into consideration
