Leadership is about coping with changes that includes technological changes , increase
in competition, deregulation of markets, change in demographics etc. on the other hand
management is about coping with complexity arises in carrying out business functions like
planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and controlling (Carr-Ruffino, 2019).
For example talking about military analogy A piece time army can only survive when it
has good administration and management in its hierarchy on the other hand wartime army needs
competent leadership at all the levels.
Complexities are manged by companies initially through planning and budgeting in
contrary to that leading starts with setting vision.In addition to that management requires
controlling and planning for plan accomplishment on the other hand leadership requires
motivation and inspiration for achieving its vision (Kotter, 2000).
How do you create a culture of leadership?
For creating the culture of leadership companies can recruit people with having high
leadership quality and equally efforts should be made to enhance their career because individual
having effective leadership quality set examples for others in addition to this corporation
deliberately create challenging opportunities for developing leadership skills and management
provide such a risky task so that they can learn from failure (if any) that will help in increasing
risk taking abilities of the employees which is one of the quality of a good leader. Also
companies take various initiatives to broaden the narrow base of employees which is needed for
enhancing leadership skills in a person (what leaders really do, 2001).
