In the essay, discussion is carried on the different concept related to culture, people and
contemporary leadership. It is true that leadership has become the essential aspect in the
organisation. it helps in influencing the people to work better in the organization. Leadership

material. As per my understanding, leadership skills are significant as it helps us in achieving
the professional as well as personal success. However, it is true that we have to face some
problems related to development of leadership abilities and capabilities. I have also learned
that it is essential to include the leadership skills in the integral part of our education. It helps
me as well as other people to become flexible by applying the leadership abilities and skills.
In the current scenario, role of leaders has become quite essential for the success of
organisation. In addition, I also think that effective leadership begins by ensuring self-
awareness. It means, we need to work hard for understanding the strength and weakness. In
my view, if a person is trustworthy, working, supportive, then he has the capacity to become
the successful leader. It is because a competent and confident leader has the capability and
ability to move their followers on the positive path (Pardey, 2016). I was not competent
enough to make the deal with others for the resources. However, I believe that I am
successful in making things happen.
Moving forward to the next section, I have also provided the example related to the criteria
for determining the effectiveness of the leadership. I have also mentioned the type of leader

follows:
Positive outlook: For an effective leader, it is essential to encourage the team members in a

the talent management and recruitment. Talent management plays an essential role in the
organisation. This is the reason most of the organisation tends to effectively manage the
employees and helping them in developing their capabilities and skills for retaining them
(Mikkelson, York and Arritola, 2015).
We have taught the concept of talent management and its characteristics is being explained.
In my understanding related to the theory of talent management, I think that the human
resources plays a vital role in maintaining the performance and talent of the employees. It is
done by identifying the gaps and filling those gaps. By identifying the gaps between the
current and desired performance of the employees, it become essential to apply the necessary
talent management theory. I have understood that the gaps in the people affect their attitude,
performance, and behaviour. Due to the lack of leadership qualities in myself, I have faced
the issue and that leads to my in effective performance (Puccio, Mance and Murdock, 2010).
Group discussion was also the part of in class activity. It helped in knowing the importance of
attention and focus at the time of group discussion. It also helped me in knowing the other’s
point of view. We have also given the several exercises at the time of discussion in order to
know the knowledge and apply that knowledge at the time of discussion. The group
discussion was conducted between the various students in class room that were asked to
effectively participate and give their views regarding the topic of leadership and its
importance. Some of the members have stated that leaders are born rather than made. The
belief of those people was depending on the skills that a person has from their born. As
compare to this, one of the members has stated that leaders are not born. Leaders can also be
made through effective abilities and skills. All the members have taken the active
participation in the discussion by presenting their point of view regarding the topic. I was
lacked in participating at the group discussion, as I was not having the proper information
regarding the leadership. Besides this, I was also not able to speak due to lack of confidence.
It has presented my gaps in skills due to lack in conveying the thoughts regarding the
effective leadership. In this way, I learned that it is require by me to learn on the topic of
communication skills (Kwiatkowski, 2019).
As per the learning of concept, I have understood that retainment of the proper talent within
the organisation provides benefit to the company for the long time. For ensuring this, it is also
required by the leaders to properly recruit the person. Besides recruiting, it is also essential to
provide the proper training in order to maximise their skills and potential. Performance
