INTRODUCTION
Management mainly focuses on the process of planning, organising, directing, staffing and
controlling the things activities of the business. Leadership mainly look over the directing
function of top level management for the better functioning of each and every individual working
in the organisation. Management is the procedure of planning, organising and directing the
activities and resources of the organisation to attain particular goals effectively and efficiently.
While, leadership is delineated as an ability of an individual or a group of person to guide,
influence the people or employees in the organisation to work properly to achieve goals.
This presentation covers analysation of important leadership and management theories.
Along with this, evaluation of challenges the social and health care sector present to managers
and leaders.

Leadership theory
The theory explains why and how some people become leaders (Bush, 2020). With
leadership theory, a leader mainly focusses on behaviour and traits that individual can adopt to
increase their capabilities of leadership. It helps people working in the organisation in increasing
their skill and knowledge to become effective leader to handle their team effectively and
properly. Some of the leadership theories in context to Treetops Care Ltd is explained below:
Behavioural theory: This theory focuses on how leaders behave and think how other
leaders can copy these traits. It states that leaders are not born perfect and successful,
they work hard and can become successful with the help of learnable behaviour. In
Treetops Care Ltd, leaders use these theories to address human dimension related to
working. It aids them to be adapt base and flexible on their position.
Great Man theory: This theory is also known as trait theory, which states that people are
born with the skills and knowledge of being good leader. They have innate skills and
traits which make them perfect and they do not have to be learned and taught for become
good leader. Application of Great Man theory in Treetops Care Ltd implies that people
which are in power deserve to lead others as they have traits that they have been endowed

with. In the company, there are some leaders who have skills and traits and are not
needed to put efforts to learn leadership skills and become a perfect leader. Theory of Transformation: According to this theory of management relationship
between managers and employees plays an important role in the company. It states that
the effective managers and leaders inspire and directs the workforce to work effectively
and efficiently in order to attain success and goal of the business. The leaders of Treetops
Care Ltd use this theory which helps them in inspiring, developing vision for the
members of their team motivates them to achieve common goal of organisation.
Management theory
Management theories are assumptions of management which highlights the creation of
standards to increase the production capacity of the business (Parkhi, 2019). These theories focus
on improving output and rewarding high performance. Management theories helps managers in
understanding the rules and regulations and according to that they have to handle, manage and
guide the employees and business. Some management theories opt by Treetops Care Ltd to
enhance their business profitability are as below:
Scientific Management Theory: The theory which helps to increase the productivity of
individual to increase the production level of the firm is known as scientific management
theory. This theory was given by Fredrick Winslow Taylor, hence, it was labelled as
taylorism. Managers of Treetops Care Ltd are using this theory by standardize their time,
process, costs and equipment across all processes. Responsibilities in the company is
specifically share out between employees and managements.
Administrative Management Theory: This theory helps in framing a path, which leads
to design an organisation at large scale. It includes five functions of management that
helps business operations to be conducted. Treetops Care Ltd implementing all five
functions in their organisation to achieve their operational objectives. Managers of the
company are getting proper guidance from administrative management theory to make
plans and to achieve them.
Human relation theory: This theory aids companies in working in effective and proper
manner in order to achieve organizational goal, success and profitability. According to
this theory it is people working in the company plays an important role to attain its goal.
So, it is compulsory to provide proper environment conditions to their workforce.

given task effectively by listening the views of each others, proper communication,
coordination and many more.
Challenges the health and social care sector presents to leaders and managers
Health and social care sector is growing field with ample number of rising employment
opportunities across the globe (Bush, Bell and Middlewood, 2019). In health and social care,
leaders and managers are facing huge challenges in order to recruit, select, develop, stimulate
and retain workforce. In Treetops Care Ltd, leaders and managers faces mentioned below
challenges:
Workforce shortage: At present, health and social care sector is facing shortage of qualified as
well as skilled workers. In Treetops Care Ltd, operating within health and social care sector
leads managers and leaders to face challenge of skill shortage. It is because graduation rate
of leaders in the sector is unable to fulfil rising demands. Due to this, managers and leaders
of Treetops Care Ltd are unable to find right candidate for right position.
Technology: Health and social care also presents challenge of technology on business
establishments. In the sector, emergence of new technologies, ranging from specified
equipment or software to information systems, makes it challenging for leaders and
managers of Treetops Care Ltd to foster adaptable to technological changes in hiring,
training, influencing and retaining right staff.
Regulation and compliance:In the health and care sector regulation and compliance is the
challenging factor for the managers and leaders of the company. There are various rules and
regulations like paid leave, workplace safety, retirement, tax charges, cybersecurity,
healthcare reform and many more. All these are very challenging for the leaders of Treetops
Care Ltd as they have to work and manage things according to the rules and regulations.
CONCLUSION
From the above presentation, it has been concluded that the leadership and management both
plays an important role in order to achieve success, profitability and goal of the organisation.
Leadership theories that are applied in a health and social care company are behavioural theory,
great man theory and theory of transformation. Management theories used by managers of health
