INTRODUCTION
Management operation is the essential function of the organisation which helps company
to take further expansion plan which helps to focus on the organisation inputs and organisation
outputs. Main objective of the operation management is to utilise the all necessary resources and
make effective product outcomes. This process helps to satisfy the needs of customers and gain
maximum profit returns. Present report based on two case studies, in which they will discuss
about the leadership characteristics and the role of leaders. Report also will discuss about the
different models and theories of situational, system and contingency in different organisation.
TASK 1
P1 compare the different roles and characteristics of a leader and a manager.
Leaders and managers both plays a very essential role in the organisation. Manger is the
effective individual who manage the company roles and responsibilities in very effective manner
(Bahmani-Firouzi and Azizipanah-Abarghooee, 2014). Besides, leaders who influence
employees for better performance. As per the case study by Wiseman, president of Wiseman
group they motivate themselves after they facing many troubles and conflicts in the working
environment.

Leader and manager both are the important and necessary element for the organisation.
They both work for the organisation goals and objectives. Leaders lead the team members
motivate them for the better performance. Besides, manager have responsibility to complete the
target within specific time period. Customers always prefer to select those organisations' product
and services which company management environment and working is good. Manager and
leaders the reason of this success (Ellis and et.al, 2015). Who lead and manage the work in such
an effective way. In case of any discourage and ineffective working leaders needs to adopt some
effective techniques and theories in order to meet the needs of employees While company having
risk factor manager take decision in order to mitigate the uncertain events.
P3 apply different theories and models of approach, including situational, system leadership and
contingency in different organisational situations.
Organisation adopts different types of leadership theories which depends on the company
aims and objectives.
Situational leadership theory: Situational leadership is depends on the situation. This
leadership style helps to survive in complex environment. On the basis of this theory leader
should be mature and enough to handle the complex situations. It also has responsible to adopt
new changes in the market.
Contingency leadership theory: this theory is defined the behaviour of the leader or an
individual. This helps to maintain the good relation with the stakeholders. This leadership
approach motivate employees by the good behaviour. The main role of the leader is to create
positive environment in the company. According to the federal theory, theory of motivation
always depends upon the effectiveness (ExpĆ³sito and eds., 2016). Just like a Liz Wiseman after
they going through from many conflicts, finally they decide to take the responsibility of their
team mates and start interacting them as a good leader.

This leadership model firms used when they decide to expand its business activities or
new product and services. Liz Wiseman should adopts new skills or knowledge in order to
enhance the new leadership approach. Along with the that, this model helps to motivate the
environment towards the great efforts (Fayol, 2016).

Management theories: this is the management theory which helps to generate the management

relation with employees and understand their needs and wants.
Leadership theories:
ļ‚· Trait leadership model: this theory of leadership generally focus on the different
behaviour and uniqueness of individual (Hatziargyriou, ed., 2014). In this theory the role
of leader is to understand the compatible level of the employees and behaviour as well.
ļ‚· Contingency theory: this theory of leadership focuses on two factors of motivation task
or relationship. In this theory the role of the leaders is to identify the best possible task for
the employees.

P4 Explain the key approaches to operations management and the role that leaders and managers
play in Hyundai.
Management operation is the important factor for Hyundai to take the measure decision
making approach (Zakariazadeh, Jadid and Siano, 2015). In order to make the effective
operation management Hyundai needs to gaining competitive environment in order to reduce the
operational cost. With the help of some approaches Hyundai will get effective management
operations:
Dynamic approach: in order to compete with global market company needs to adopt
dynamic and changeable environment in order to grab new opportunities.
Lean Production Graphics: this is the kind of systematic approach which helps to
eliminate waste within a manufacturing system.
Leaders role: the main role of the manager is to motivate and encouraging the employees to
adopt new changes. Leaders always coordinate employees and help them to adjust in the
dynamic environment.
Managers role: the role of manager in operation management is to manage the work in
effective manner and delegate the roles and responsibilities among employees.

Operations management enhance the profitability of the business environment. The focus

the system. Besides, negative environment of the company may affect the business functions and
operation activities (White, 2016).
Financial strength: Company financial position may affect the business activities. This may
give negative impression on the market as well. Due to lack of financial position company fails
to purchase quality of raw material.
Relationship between employers and employees: Another factor which affects company
policies which is relation between employees and employees.
External factors:
External factors of the business environment would also affect the position of the
company. They may affect the position of the company such factors are technological, political,
legal, social factors etc (Slack, 2015).

environmental, social, economical, technological etc. like political factors influence the business
activities in adverse manner. These factors affect due to changes in demographic, changes in
interest. Besides, another main factor which affects company environment (Morschett,
Schramm-Klein and Zentes, 2015). Company needs to adopt some action plan in order to reduce
the negative impacts of the external factors.

From the above report it can be concluded that, management operation is the important
part of the organisation which helps to introduce other factors in the management. Present report
discussed about the two case, first is about why great does don't make great leaders or second
one is about Hyundai. In which they explained about the roles and responsibilities of leaders or
managers, different leadership and management approaches. Moreover, all essential aspects of
this report is very important for every organisation or an individual to maintained their man team
perfect.
