Managers and leaders play an important role in improving the efficiency and
effectiveness of an organisation in achieving its long term goals by effectively coordinating and
organising various activities (Terziev, Georgiev and Georgiev, 2017). Managers help in
planning, organising, budgeting, controlling and executing activities in organisation while the
leaders focus on leading the employees, allocating roles and responsibilities among them,
monitoring their work etc. In this report JD Sports is taken which is a British sports fashion retail
company that offer sportswear, accessories and other products to its customers. In this report the
management and leadership styles along with the theories that can be applied by mangers and
leaders will be discussed so that highly efficient working environment can be created within an
organisation.
Main Body
As the businesses are expanding in global markets the composition of workforce is
changing with employees belonging to various caste, sex, backgrounds, nationality etc. working
together and coordinating their efforts so as to achieve organisational objectives. It is also
important that managers and leaders change their styles of managing staff so that effective
working environment can be established (Hamilton, 2018). It is essential that ethical decisions
are made in organisation so that benefits of all the stakeholders can be maximised along with
enhancing trust of employees in practices of organisation. It is also important that technology is
given importance in organisation, risks and ambiguity is managed, work-life balance of
employees is increased and equal opportunities are given to employees. All these actions are
important to be taken by managers and leaders so that highly productive and efficient workforce
can be developed which can help in increasing profitability of organisation. Following are
