INTRODUCTION
Leadership can be defined as the process of leading a team in which various members are
working for the accomplishment of a common goal. In order to complete all the tasks on time it
is very important for leaders to make sure that they are guiding all the subordinates in
appropriate manner (Aritz and Walker, 2014). Organisation which is selected for this report is
Kellogg's which is a food manufacturing company and operating business all around the world.
This assignment is based upon analysis of different leadership styles and suggestions regarding
the ways in which improvements could be made in them are covered under this project.
MAIN BODY
Analysis of leadership style
In order to make sure that the goals which are related to different tasks allotted to staff
members are achieved or not it is very important for leaders to make sure that they are guiding
employees properly. For this purpose they are required to follow appropriate leadership style
which can help them supervise all the subordinates effectively (Claxton and Sarti, 2014). There
are various types of it which could be adopted by the leaders in Kellogg's to attain long term
business objectives. These are autocratic, democratic, laissez-faire etc. from all of them leaders
in the organisation follow democratic leadership style. It is analysed below in detail:
Democratic leadership: It is also called participative leadership because leaders ask the
staff members to take part in decision making process and provide opinion on them so that
highly effective strategies for future development could be formed. It is based upon free flow of
ideas and collaboration because it can help to find best suitable ways to accomplish critical tasks
easily (Herrmann and Felfe, 2014). In order to reach all the business goals successfully with
highly motivated staff members, Kellogg's uses this leadership style because it helps to provide
opportunity to workers to share their ideas for improvement to leaders. With the help of it
decisions could be made quickly which helps to execute the plans as soon as possible. It is also
beneficial for the formulation of effective strategies. Morale of employees could be increased as
they will have the right to take part in the process of forming decisions. It provides freedom to
all the staff members to contribute in decision making process of organisation.
