1.1 BACKGROUND TO THE RESEARCH
Every organisation be it profit or non-profit organisation requires management and
leadership for ensuring that all actions are taken towards the organisational objectives. Similarly,
management assists in the implementation and formation of all necessary strategic planning for
the success of an organisation (Samosudova, 2017). Charity and non-profit organisations with
great leadership are able to handle every activity without putting in situations and the charity's
clearly defined objectives is more readily attained. Leaders influence the variety of results which
include customer satisfaction, productivity, sales, revenue and many more (Taylor, Wills and
Hoadley, 2019). For conducting the current investigation MCM int’l Ltd is selected because it is
known as non-profit organisation. This organisation provides assistance to the single mothers,
pregnant teenagers and low-income family. In the current dissertation, investigator has aimed at
grasping philosophy of management and leadership (Álvarez-González and et. al., 2017).

1.3 JUSTIFICATION FOR THE RESEARCH
The main purpose of conducting the current investigation is to investigate about the
leadership styles and practices. These practices are introduced by the volunteers who serve in
MCM int’l Ltd. The leadership and management practices is chosen as the topic of the current
investigation because they assist in managing every activity and operations of the business in
appropriate and systematic way (Hammad, Samier and Mohammed, 2020). now a days,
leadership is more important for every organisation to use in order to enhance their employees
motivation. The present investigation also includes the strategies used by non-profit
organisations to execute in the business (Alrowwad and Abualoush, 2020). This topic is also
chosen to determine the impact of leadership within the charitable organisations (Ding, Choi and
Aoyama, 2019). The current research is needed because it helps in determining various types of
leadership practices especially for non-profit organisations (Hallinger and Hosseingholizadeh,
2020). There are certain work in these non-profit organisations that are completed when the
company follows appropriate leadership theory. When companies form strategies of leadership
they face certain challenges so the current investigation also aims at finding solutions and ways
to mitigate and overcome challenges (Cole, 2018).
The current research has determined that non-profit organisations use transformational
leadership theory because in this leader operates with followers and unit beyond their immediate
self-interests to determine required change, forming a vision to lead the change by inspiration
and influence (Thomas, Trucks and Kouns, 2019). The major benefit of transformational
leadership at the business level is that it assists to create a greater sense of commitment to the
mission of non-profit (Kim and Peng, 2018). It has great impact on the business when they
visibly use such leadership skills into action (Jones and et. al., 2018). By conducting the current
investigation, researcher will gain information about the various types of leadership theories and
management. This information will be useful for researcher especially when they will enter in
their professional career (Lu, 2018).
