INTRODUCTION
Leadership and management both are essential as leadership is the art of influencing people
to focus on achieving goals and objectives. Leaders provide direction to its team members so that
they work efficiently (Cope and Murray, (2017)). Management is the process of planning,
organising, directing and controlling all the activities. Leadership styles that are applicable to
nursing practice are, transformational leadership, democratic, laissez faire leadership style and
autocratic leadership. These are some styles that are applied in nursing practice, advantages and
disadvantages of leadership style are discussed in report. Difference between management and
leadership is described in report.

Laissez faire leadership – This leadership style is opposite of autocratic as in this style leaders
make decisions after consulting with all team members. In this style leaders take decisions and
