Introduction
The assignment will discuss for different leadership theories that will enable to determine the
understanding of these theories in a structured manner. The assignment will provide with the
description of different theories and apply these theories in different leadership scenarios.
Trait Theory
The three traits I think I possess are Creativity, Flexibility and Drive or Motivation to succeed.
The trait of creativity developed when I worked as a leader for one of my projects to develop
distinct slogans in order to sell our project. The trait of Flexibility developed when I worked as a
content writer in a marketing firm which required altering the working hours as per our client’s
needs and requirements. The trait of Drive and motivation to succeed developed when I was a
student pursuing my major in Human Resource Management which required long hours of
studying with my internship on the side to complete my course.
I have a trait of effective delegation and empowerment which will help me to develop as an
effective leader. It is necessary for a leader to possess the trait of delegation and to empower the
juniors. Delegation enables to move the load of work from the leader and creates space to focus
towards other essential tasks and duties.
Based on the analysis I would develop an effective leader as I possess some of the required
qualities of an effective leader. I have a lot to learn and possess different traits from the
leadership theory. But the current qualities and skills I possess will aid me to develop as an
effective leader. The skills of delegation, empowerment, creativity, flexibility, and motivation to
succeed will aid me to develop as an effective leader.

Trait Theory

Situational, Transformational, and Servant Leadership
Situational Leadership: The situational leadership is a style of leadership which enables the
leader to lead as per the requirements of the situations. According to this theory, there are no
particular style of leadership, and the leader must possess different skills and qualities which are
relevant as per the task and the situations in which leadership is required (Ghazzawi, El
Shoughari & El Osta, 2017, para 5, pp.102-110). The leaders must adopt leadership styles to the
performance readiness of the group or the individuals towards which the leadership is directed.
Transformational Leadership: This style of leadership is where the leading causes to change
the individuals or systems in society. This style of leadership brings in a transformation in the
followers and up brings certain positivity and creates value in the lifestyles and attitudes of the
leaders (Chou, 2013, para 5, pp. 200-201).
Servant Leadership: In this approach, the leader is dedicated to serving the organization as a
servant and is fully thrived to focus on the organization and its objectives. The leadership style
thrives for serving the organization in the best way possible (Chou, 2013, para 5, pp. 200-201).
Situational leadership is the most effective style of leadership as it provides with opportunities to
alter the leadership practices and approaches as per the requirements and needs of the situations.
It enables to develop the leadership in a dynamic and strategic manner.
During my internship, I worked with a team where the individuals were low on motivation, so I
applied the leadership style of transformational leadership which altered their personal and
professional attitudes and practiced. This motivated them to work professional and achieve the
aims.

Identify a Leader
Negative: During my internship, one of my colleagues was working as an ATL and had the
power to undertake decisions in the absence of my TL. The ATL often misused his powers and
would proceed in a harmful manner towards other team members. He would often direct his
work he was assigned towards others and create undue pressure on the team members.
Positive: In the same leadership my friend was working as a TL for a different team. He would
often help his team members to accomplish the assigned tasks and would aid them to develop in
personal and professional manners. He often used his power and influenced different decisions
undertaken in the department for the betterment and development of his team and other team
members. He also used his power to help other team members in developing professionally by
providing the required effective resources.
Personal Leadership Profile
Leadership is essential for leading and managing the team so that they can achieve the goals and
objectives in an effective manner. Based on the newfound insight and knowledge of leadership
and management, I want to enhance my leadership skills and competencies to become an
effective leader. In the course, I have learnt about various concepts related to leadership and
management. Along with this, I have also studied the leadership styles of various leaders
including democratic, transformational, and charismatic and servant leadership. Based on the
studies, I like democratic leadership style practiced by Steve Jobs (Pavur, 2012, pp. 269-274).
Out of four leadership, transformational, democratic, and charismatic and servant leadership, I
would especially like to focus on democratic leadership. I believe that there is a long way for me

The leadership style that can be applied according to the Hershey Blanchard Model is delegating
where the leader will delegate responsibilities and duties towards the already motivated and
confident employees (Meirovich & Gu, 2015, para 7, pp.56-73).
Scenario Two
The leadership style that can be applied according to the Path-Goal Theory is Directive
Leadership as the employee is excited to learn about the job but lacks the ability to adhere with
the assigned roles and responsibilities (Pennstate, 2018). The employee is at Low Capability and
High Motivation.
Scenario Three
According to the Trait Theory, the three traits required in the scenario are Drive and Motivation
to succeed, Creativity and Decision-making Skills. These skills will aid in motivating the
employees, creativity will increase the sales and decision-making skills will aid in managing the
employees.
Scenario Four
The Supportive leadership style can be adopted in this situation in order to develop a bond with
the employee and increase his level of confidence (Pennstate, 2018).
