INTRODUCTION
It is very important to understand the role of leadership and management in an
organisation. Report will include an overview of presentation and reflection of own learning
while working in team.
MAIN BODY
A. Overview of presentation
During the team presentation me and my team worked to identify the leadership and
management within a company with the help of research and collection of different information
and data(Rai and Mukherjee, 2015). The assignment was divided into different parts and
distributed among us. A dead line was set to complete the part and submit it to the group. After
collecting the information we discuss with each other whether information is up to the mark or
not in order to make this presentation informative.
We analysed that leadership and management are two different parts of the organisation
where management plays a key role in planning, managing, controlling and also monitoring
different processes of the organisation and on the other hand leadership plays an important role
to give right direction to its company. Not only this me and my team also founded that there are
various challenges that Auto-mobile sector is facing with respect to current market situations.
There are many global factors that impacts Auto-mobile industries like change in currency,
inflation etc. and these factors are having negative impact on production part of this industry. As
government of US changed many laws, it directly impacts the Auto-mobile industries(Potter,
2015).
Me and my team also founded that customers demand have changed and they are
switching to electric vehicles as they prefer eco-friendly cars and motors. There are many
substitutes available in market that are creating high competition in market because of which
many Auto-mobile companies are facing challenges for having positioning in market. Another
major challenge is the technological changes in market as on daily bases new technology is
invented that creates competition in market and it becomes necessary for all Auto-mobile
companies to adopt them in order to raise there productivity.
With respect to this presentation, me and my team also founded an important information
about the leader Mary T. Barra who is CEO of general motors company and plays an important
role to handle different situations as a leader. Many changes occurred in General Motors and

During the team presentation me and my team worked to identify the leadership and

Mary T. Barra played an important part in handling these changes. In order to bring
technological changes in the organisation, Mary T. Barra as a leader worked in reducing
emission with zero crashes and emission and not only this he invested in AV. Managers of
General Motors also worked in all tough situations as during the Brexit, cost of product
decreased with high manufacturing cost and managers handle these changes by increasing
product process but it impacted customer base.
As me and my team was doing research on leadership and management, me and my team
founded that the managers of an organisation works in formulating strategies and plans and
leaders helps in implementing these strategies with effective operations of the company. During
the presentation me and my team analysed from different from data and information that General
Motors can use Hofstead cultural dimensions' framework in order to identify the cultural
differences(YahyaVana and Salman, 2017). It was founded that all countries are having different
culture and on that basis only they have there organisational structure, decision making process,
masculinity ratios, risk policies and ethical culture and norms. General Motors is also having
cultural differences because of which there strategies and norms vary from other international
businesses.
At the end me and my team during the preparation of presentation with effective research
analysed that leaders of organisation use their own ways for motivating and influencing its
employees. Leaders at GM, explore their own ideas for encouraging the employees and develop
connection with them. They make the employees engaged and set different goals in order to
achieve the targets by encouraging them with different reward policies.
B. Reflection of working process
Description:-
It was a good experience to work in team as it helped me to learn lots of new things while
working as part of team. We divided our team in order to make the things easy going by dividing
part of presentation among each other and setting dead line for its submission.
Feelings:-
In staring if was difficult and some time frustrated to handle the team as all were having
different perception over a single discussion that was creating difficulty to work together. But we
motivated each other and worked very hard in order to manage the things. Our ideas were
different and many times we argue with each other but at the end we also come up with an

There are times when we were unable to meet for the discussions, at that point of time, me and
my team used different communication tools in order to get connected. Many data was
exchanged with the help of Emails and one leader was decided among us who was having
responsibilities to collect the data and analyse it and also compile it. The leader worked very well
and coordinated effectively with us. This group activity helped me out in many ways as I learned
to work with people and share my ideas without any fear. Previously, I was very shy to express
my opinion and during the presentation also I thought twice before putting my ideas in front of
my team. But as time passes and with the help and support of my team members my
communication skills get improved.
Analysis:-
The reason of this successful group presentation is that we all members have self
identified strength which we used effectively in order to handle various situations. I learned
about my strength and weaknesses which helped me out to enhance my strengths and overcome
my weaknesses by working on both. I learned new things related to role of leadership and
management in an organisation. I got to know about Hofstead cultural dimensions' framework
that how it is useful in determining cultural differences in company. For the same me and my
team researched a lot and understand different situations that leaders and mangers faces during
these situations. Working in group helped me out in many ways as my decision making
capability got improved and this will be helping me in my future projects as well.
Conclusion:-
I learned new things while working in team that is to plan and then divide the tasks
according to the capability of the members. This is helpful in pursuing the task more effectively.
Many times during the discussion we disagreed with certain points of each other and argued with
each others points. But after completion of this presentation I realised that these disagreements
resulted to a better result and an effective presentation.
Action plan:-
This experience will be helpful to me in my near future as I got to know about strength
and weaknesses which I can improve for my future assignments. My communication skills also
