THOMAS-KILMANN CONFLICT MODE: Reflection
The activity required us to take the Thomas-Kilmann conflict mode test, which assess the ways
one resolves conflict when faced with differing views. Prior to this activity, I considered myself
to be a compromising person and someone who would bend their ways for the need of others. I
tend to find a middle path when faced with a conflict with anyone. Additionally, I also thought
myself to be more concerned about other’s issues than myself. The same has been revealed in the
tests. The test score came 8 each for Compromising and Accommodating, 7 for Avoiding, 5 for
Collaborating and 2 for Competing (Thomas and Kilmann, 2019) . Thus, I am largely a diplomatic
person, who is also concerned about the needs of others while ignoring my own. Additionally, it was a
revelation for me that I have a trait of ‘ The Turtle’ which suggests that I do not find it worth to resolve
conflict and generally avoid people and issues that might cause any problem. Being accommodating
and bending for the needs of others could be not a great thing for my achievements. (Eilerman, 2006)
Being able to know my strength and weaknesses, I can use these in case I face a conflict situation, and
can improve my negotiation skills (Stitt Feld Handy Group, 2004) .
