A group is a collection of different individuals who come together for a particular project or
assessment. They share a common objective and work for the organisation. They all work to
satisfy the needs and wants of the organisation with the combine efforts of all. They all work in
coordination with one another and try to maintain good quality of work. People in group are
given more benefit. They get more recontamination the organisation in comparison to
individuals. When people demand in group they are answered with more responsibility and this
way they are protected against any exploitation by the head authorities.
The nature of the group can be broadly classified into formal and informal group:
Formal Group: Group of people combined together by the management of the organisation to
work for a particular task or project comes under formal group. They are created for achieving
the targets of the organisations. Few informal groups are as follows:
1.1Technological group: In this the members of the group possess knowledge of technology and
are provided with the technical work of the organisation.
As the motivational theory has positive effect on the workforce similarly it also helps the
manager in the organisation in various ways.
1.Helps in getting work done:By providing positive motivation managers can motivate employee
to work with full dedication towards a particular project. Only if the manger has good motivation
power he can get the resources effectively utilised by the employees and get the project
completed on time.
2.Cost control: In the process of motivation employees are motivated to work as a family. When
the employee gets the feeling of belongingness with the organisation he takes the resources of
the organisation as their responsibility(Mai and Paxinos 2011). This helps in increasing the
working efficiency, increase in the productivity with incurring minimum cost on productivity.
3.Friendly environment: In the process of motivation everyone is treated equally. No one is
benefited with extra advantages over other without any reason. This brings a healthy
environment in the organisation and everyone feel happy at the work place. This motivates
individual to do good job which results into increase in the total efficiency of an individual.

tasks and work with positive attitude so that the goal can be achieved.
2.Good leadership: it is necessary for the informal groups to have a good leder. Only if group
has a good leader all the members of the group will work in a focused manner and the goal of the
organisation will be accomplished.
3.Group size: Big groups means more complex flow of information. In order to be effective in
doing the task small groups are preferred over the big groups(Parker and Collins,2010).
Communication take place easily and more effective work is done in groups with less members.
4.Group norms:These are the basic guidelines or code of conduct which is provieded to the
members of the group and they follow these norms as long as they are part of that group. These
norms could be related to the code of conduct, the dress code or the minimum attendance. In
many cases actions can be taken against those who violate the norms of the group.
5.Synergy: It is believed that the results are more effective when they are given by group efforts.
Therefore in order to bring synergic effect in the organisation the group should work with more
dedication and responsibility to give the best results.
4.3 Impact of technology on team functioning of 'City College and Enterprise Rent a car'
It is wrong to say that technology always have positive effect on the business. There are mixed
effects of technology on the business(Samuels and Shugart,2010). It is necessary for all the
business type to remain updated with the technology as only than one can maintain its stand in
the competition of the market. Only by using the the latest technology one can think to be excel
in his field. For city college it is important that they remain updated in the technology to provide
the students with what is best for them(Walumbwa,2010). Online services has become very
popular and has maximum demand in the market. Car rent company can provide their customers
in the groups till the task given is not completed(Nadiri and Tanova,2010). Once the task is
completed group also get over.
