INTRODUCTION
Working with leading people is a process where company guide or improve their
employees’ skills, leadership and management qualities. In this process leadership plays an
important role because with the help of this quality organization manages themselves and the
whole team (Lepsinger, 2010). The present report is based on the Virgin Media; it is a company
which provides all electronics items like mobile phones, computer, television etc. This firm is
famous for their fast customer services and the management skills. It also includes the
recruitment process of a new staff and the legal, regulatory and ethical considerations which are
related to the company internal and external environment. Further, how leadership styles rise the
profit of the firm has been described in this report.
TASK 1
1.1 Documentation to select and recruit a new member of staff
The main work of human resources is to recruit a suitable Peron in the company. Virgin
Media want to recruit new manager, so for this firm use advertisement media (Mendenhall and
Osland, 2012). With the help of this activity they can easily get the suitable person. The
documentation to select a new member explained as below;
Job analysis- In this first step, firm analysis the vacant place in the organization and also
find out which position is vacant. Further the human resources decide which kind of person is
suitable for this post. It also includes the job description and job specification. Job analysis
includes basically six steps which are;

Recruitment and selection-In this human resources' department describe which method
they are following for the candidate selection (Lev, 2013). In Virgin Media firstly they take the
resume of the person after this HR department checks all the details of the person that it is
suitable for the job or not. As per example for the office manager they need a person whose

1.3 Conflict and difficult situation faced by the manager during selection process
As a manager off the Virgin Media when I am taking the interview I faced some
problems which are based on IT department questions. All candidates are good enough but they
have lack the practical knowledge of the computers and electronics machine. But finally I chose
the two candidates for the office manager. They both are talented, good communication skills,
positive and attracting personality and the good knowledge to how to deal with customers. But
the post is vacant for one person so I check their human habits and give them one situation which
are related to deal with ground workers (Zhang and Bartol, 2010). So I found that one person is
short tempered and do not know how to manage and deal with this kind of worker. And the other
one is quite good; he politely talks with the workers and try to convince them in their local
language. So finally I choose the second one for the office manager because in business every
day we have to face so many clients which are having different nature. So on that time a manger
should maintain their nature and be polite with others.
1.4 Own contribution to make the selection process more effective and fairer
According to the previous answer as a hiring manager I would change some things in
selection process. Firstly before hiring the candidate I check all the family background of the
person that he/she has any criminal records or not. In online test time I add one practical test
which hare based on the repair of the equipment's (Yang, Huang and Wu, 2011). By this I can
judge that person have any practical knowledge or not. Then finally I check their human nature
toward the difficult condition and how they manage all people in one time. It is very important
because as a manger it is our duty to manage all the company in one time. So these things which
I want to change in selection process.

2.1 Skills and attributes needed for the leadership
Responsive to the groups’ need- leader is not a single person he/she takes all the other
members with them (Kurland, Peretz and Hertz-Lazarowitz, 2010). In Virgin Media company

leader must be responsible toward all the staff members. For the better leadership they have to
give time to all employees, listen their problem which are related to the work environment. Then
provide an appropriate solution on time.
Team building- In organization all people work together so it is necessary for all of them
that they have better understanding for each other. So for this create a team building program
into the organization, provide them work into team so by these employees create a trust on each
other.
Commitment to the staff- Good leader always know that as a single person he/she not
able to do all work. For the better leadership it is important to give opportunities to other team
member, take their suggestion into the work and time to time give them proper training
(Obiwuru, Okwu and Nwankwere, 2011). By this, leader can easily mange all the staff member
and create a positive environment.
Communication- What leader want from their team member it may be clear in their head
bu without a good communication it is not possible that it can be clear in all team member head.
So it is important to create a good communication in their Virgin Media . With the help of this all
team member easily communicate their problems and idea with each other (Oreg and Berson,
2011). And with better communication trust build and company's employees can easily know the
vision and mission of the firm.
Commitment- The good leader must follow their commitments toward the customers and
employees. A person should respect the decision of other person and try to more flexible in their
mind or thoughts. By this they can easily give a good leadership skills to other person.

workers can easily do their work and also feel comfortable in the organization. Firm take time to
time feedback from their employees and customers by this, they can easily know about their
drawbacks and they can solve them on time. By applying, different leadership style leaders guide
their employees. One of the best thing which adopt by Virgin Media is everyday they spend their
