Introduction
Leaders are defined by their virtue of helping themselves along with identifying a right path for others.
This paper discusses in-depth about the various leaders and their contributing roles in an organization.
The leaders identify a right direction and the followers follow the path (Van Knippenberg, 2013).
Leadership helps in formulating a strategy which would be a ‘winning’ situation for the team. The leader
ensures and inculcates a dynamic, inspiring direction for the team. In order to bring visionary changes, the
leaders bring changes along with the steadily improving the current situation or performances.
The leadership can transform a personal vision; motivate people by inspiring it along with bringing
resources to achieve common organization goals (Ward, 2016). The leadership provides a compelling
vision by which it can transform people towards achieving visionary goals. It has been seen that the
people can lose vision after a while along with motivation and enthusiasm to achieve it. There can be
different theories related to leadership and leaders can bring in different approaches as per the leader's
perspectives. The leadership can bring good results along with bringing the desired resources, goals and
powerfully influence the people to achieve the goals. The leaders can use either the necessary resources or
the team or can bring in both while achieving the goals (Tourish, 2014). The approaches and the
perspective can be different either for the team or for the leaders while dealing in achieving the visionary
goals. This paper highlights all the strategies, theories and formulates development plans and areas in
defining it.

Discussion of what Leadership is
Leadership can be defined as the power to influence people or group towards one visionary goal. The idea
is to motivate, infuse power along with influencing the people's behavior to provide an effective result.
By bringing in the best of the resources and people's attitude towards the organization goals, the
organization is able to achieve results and objectives. It is often seen that the organization has best of
resources, people, caliber, and the pre designed strategy, but they do not have the power to influence
people to bring in the desired results. Often the motivational factors are missing and people lack
organization visionary goals. They are just focused on the individual goals. The role of the leader within
the organization is to understand the individual’s needs strategies and their behavior in order to match it
with the resources. After taking the necessary step is to inculcate the individual goals towards the
organization goals (Renz, 2016). As the organization and the hired human resources are dependable upon
each other, hence they should take appropriate steps to bring in the desired results. The motive is to
influence the people minds and their behavior towards the visionary goals by bringing in efficient and
effective results. The power to influence people can be done through monetary, incentives or by giving
perks, but by influencing their behavior and minds towards the goals, people can bring in the best of
results. Leadership influences people in such manner. People often confuse leadership with the managing
people, but these both are poles apart. A leader can be a good manager but a manager can or cannot be a
good leader. The leader influences people by their virtue and through their talks. The leaders can bring
change through ability along with delivering success stories. A leader should possess the qualities such as
self-awareness, integrity, courage, inbuilt confidence, enthusiasm and innovation while bringing in the
desired resources with the team efficacy.
The appropriate theory which applies and is suitable for the modern times is the transitional leadership. It
is also defined as managerial leadership, which brings in the supervision, organization along with the
performance under one platform. It attributes the concepts of the rewards and the punishments. It closely

monitors the steps taken by the employees, influences them and can motivate them through rewards or
can punish them due to non-performance (Northouse, 2015). They take into the consideration of the day
to day progress reports along with the status quo towards the organizational goals.
The other type of the leadership is the transformational leadership, which works towards the motivation
making them follow towards one visionary goal by influencing them. The followers are engaged by
making them focus towards the goals. They are strategically influenced through behavior and mind. They
work along with the sub ordinates to bring in the change, along with inspiring people in their behavior by
bringing change in their behavior.

Discussion of questionnaires and implications of results
The importance of the various leadership theories and the implementation of it bring in the desired results
to bring in the employee job satisfaction along with the pre-defined results. Through this, the
questionnaire was distributed in order to assess and judge the leadership styles, along with satisfying the
employees and formulating strategies. For me, leadership is all about defying changes and by bringing
changes how we formulate and take necessary changes towards the changes.

Discussion of class activities and implications of them
Leadership is a great sense of the pride as it involves the feeling of ‘self-efficacy’. The sense of
competence is followed by the followers. The leader's behavior, attitudes are reciprocated by the
followers. People follow the leaders and hold a sense of belief along with faith. The leader’s wisdom is
followed by the followers in achieving the goals. As per me, a person can be a good manager but to be a
great leader requires a phenomenon changes. People can get directions from the manager but getting
engage in the rationale behind in following such thoughts and achieving the goals, this can be inbuilt by
the leader. The management goals and the vision are short sighted but the leaders are able to see beyond
the power of control. People can abide by the manager instructions but people will always follow a great
leader directions throughout their life (Kark, 2013). For a leader, his followers can go to any length for
any task within flip of seconds. The leader changes the behavior, attitude and the mindset in achieving
goals. People look up to the leaders when in confusion or lacking guidance. It is the trust, faith and a
belief which makes the leaders co-exist within our system. But a great leader can also result in the
damaging the organization. It is very important that the leader's thoughts are fully absorbed by the
organization and similarly for the leaders, they need to fully reciprocate the organization goals. Any
changes or any deviations in between the strategy of the organization and of the leadership should be fully
transparent. This holds true as it, both the leader and the management are hold trust in each other. There
bonding needs to transparent. The actions and words spoken need to be equally justified. If the leader is
not inclined towards the organization goals, rather focused on his individual goals. It will only result in
the failure of the organization. It is very important to sail in the success story of the organization, all the
team members, leaders and the management should have one clear visionary goals. For this, the leaders
should make united efforts to balance the management and the subordinates. This can only happen with
the help of virtue, faith, belief, and transparency. People follow leaders who follow visionary goals. The
management needs to be dependent on the team members and the leaders. The success stories of the

organization are a result of the group success and not an individual success. A great leader can be
successful only if the entire team is able to deliver success stories (Daft, 2014). The critical path towards
the success should be equally achievable and manageable. People come up with problems, a manager
only knows the directions which are imparted by the management, But a great leader can help the people
change their outlook due to the identified problem.

Discussion of leadership development areas and a plan to improve
My leadership skills have a competence along with the balanced thoughts towards the achievable goals.
The certain quality of leadership such as the sense of belongingness, faith, delegation skills, effective
communication, adaptability along with the innovation and wisdom comes with experience and times.
Nobody is successful in delivering results unless they have failed in their lives. A leader needs to be able
to define his follower's vision towards the success stories along with the perspective of the failure. As it is
a known fact, that the success and failure are two sides of the same coin. One needs to be rational in the
behavior, attitude, and outlook towards the achievable goals. People often view problems as a blockage
and look up to a leader. The leader not only synchronizes the individual's problems but transforms the
team problems into the visionary achievable goals. For me, a great leader is like Mr. Obama Barack and
Mr. Narendra Modi. They not only exercise a balanced approach towards their own nation but while
making strategic decisions they keep balanced perspectives of every individual and nation. A good leader
should be a great listener apart from being an effective communicator (Bolman, 2017). Through this, the
people, team members, and the management are able to bond, connect and approach him. If the leader is a
dominating individual, it would only result in imposing directions and lack rational thoughts while
achieving visionary goals. People will follow direction, but they would only complete the task which has
been assigned to them, they may not go beyond the vision as to why it needs to be done? The rationality
behind it?

Conclusion
A great leader needs to infuse his energy in the behavior, attitude and the beliefs of his followers. The
faith a great leader holds in an organization visionary goals should be transformed in a similar manner in
his followers. It is often that the people are able to absorb the directions and the assigned tasks
temporarily, but by making they understand the rationality behind achieving such goals can only result in
the success stories of the organization. People follow a great leader and a leader follows visionary goals.
A manager can give directions but a leader can provide guidance towards the goals (Avolio, 2013). A
leader brings and takes the individual goals and inculcates it with the organization goals. As organization
cannot coexist without the team members, the goals identified should be same. It is evident that the team
members have their own set of aspirations, goals, and desires to be fulfilled. A leader understands that
and takes their defying success stories into one aspiration organization goals. The followers believe in
achieving the organizational goals as their own individual's goals. People can forget organization or the
managers, but they can never forget a great leader whose lessons are remembered for life. People often
contribute complex problems as work in an irrational approach, but a leader would like to explore the
opportunity and would provide an innovative futuristic approach. While exploring new opportunities,
there can be road blocks, new challenges might make the visionary goals of the route. A leader is not
afraid to face it and secure a stable path after an in-depth evaluation. The leader’s actions and behavior
are ethical in nature upon which the decision made can be trusted and believed. A leader should be
rational and strong headed, quick to take decisions. The locus of control, persistence in approach should
never be out of scope for a leader as he has to balance the management and the subordinates. For the
management and for the subordinates as they blindly follow the leaders, a leader should always take
decisions strategically keeping everyone’s perspective in his mind. There are various contributing
theories, which may defy leadership. A leader is personified due to his values and virtues. The leader
through his innovative solution and creativity is able to resolve the complex dynamics of the problems.
To keep people engage and inculcate their goals into the organizational goals is the responsibility of the
leader.

Appendix (Example)
People look up to the leaders for delivering success. For example, Mr. Narendera Modi, prime minister of
India has not only inspired people with his defying thoughts but also made his followers believe and work
like him to achieve the visionary goals. The country India was always progressed, but with the leader like
him, he has changed to a perception of the world and of the people in viewing India.
Another example, Barrack Obama, he has translated success stories by co-operating and co-ordinating
with the third ally countries in bringing down terrorism.
